This negative review is about Dan.

Bought a tree last September, everything looked great until late Spring. Emailed Molly and she was helpful letting us know that our tree looked heat stressed, and we should water on a weekly schedule (not surprising with the drought). She also mentioned that if things hadn’t improved by September, to reach back out (there is a one year warranty on our tree from date of purchase). Called back early September since nothing had changed with how our tree looked despite plenty of watering (leaves always drooping and many dead branches that were once growing). Explained that I was still concerned, and looking for advice on how we can help our tree basically not die.
Spoke to Dan on that first phone call in September and he was very short, let me know to send pictures to Molly’s email again, and he would take a look himself. Never heard back. Sent a follow-up email. Still nothing. At this point we were approaching my warranty (surprise surprise), so I had to call again a week later and spoke to Dan once more. He was curt. Told me he thought Molly responded (passing off the blame). Very rudely, and with a laugh that let me know this wasn’t worth his time, he told me that our tree looked “perfectly fine”. With that he was ready to hang up. Our tree does not look perfectly fine, it continues to look heat stressed. Again, I’m no expert, but heck did he need to be so off-putting? Just a customer concerned that their tree may succumb, really not asking much here.

Dan is rude, demeaning, and offered no kind help. I’ll take his advice and just keep watering, but wouldn’t be surprised if the tree never makes a comeback and I’m out the money. This experience has felt nothing short of Dan pushing me away until the warranty is up.

Where could Oakland Nursery have improved here? Maybe something like “Sorry I didn’t get back to you, I have had an unusually busy week. I did take a look at your pictures and I actually think your tree looks really good compared to some others I’ve seen. Just keep doing what you’re doing and I think it’s going to be completely fine going forward. It’s a young tree, so this summer has been especially tough, but I still think you have nothing to worry about. No need to fertilize or anything, call us again in the Spring if it’s not recovering.”

HIGHLY overpriced on Xmas trees. In fact double the price of Straders. Thats 2m down the road.

Helpful staff with good advice, great selection, reasonable prices. Good selection of fruit trees.

On February 16th 2025 @around 5pm I experienced the absolute worse service at The Dublin Oakland nursery. The lady that works in the back where the house plants are treated me the worse I have ever been treated in my life- I am a loyalty member customer who is an avid collector of rare and non are Aroids, I spend on the average 1k a month at Oakland nursery- this time I decided to try the Dublin location out and after this I will NEVER step foot into that store again and I will tell everyone I possibly can the same. I belong to several plant lovers groups not only on Facebook but here also in central Ohio!
As I was back in the greenhouse area this lady watched me the whole entire time looking down at my pockets , followed me around, and even called for back up she made useless small talk with her “backup” as I tried to ignore her and look at what I came in to BUY! I felt as if she thought I was stealing. I was absolutely appalled and no longer wanted to spend my money I. Her store, so I as I begin to walk out towards the front of the store to exit she proceeded to follow me, making comments as if she was going to call the police, I ignored it. The whole time thinking of not only her ignorance but also my mother who was sitting I. The car eating on me! When I got outside she continued to watch me walk to my truck, I pointed at her because I wanted my mother to know what I was experiencing in a store that I have been going to since I was a child, I’m talking the original Oakland nursery in Oakland park on the North side of Columbus I grew up on Dunedin rd. Literally the street that dead ends to the place I used to love to go in the summer time and see the beautiful flowers and citrus trees out back, or dream of riding out from behind the gates in one of those iconic “Oakland Nursery” Delivery trucks, or during Christmas time when Santa would come and I would sit on his lap so my mother and father could get my sister and I pictures taken for that years Christmas card to send to family living in other city’s and or states.
I love the New Albany location I visit it almost daily, I live 1/2 mile away- they almost know me by name. (By face for sure) like I said I spend at least $1K a month there.
When I had had enough of this lady’s ignorance and my pride almost broken I decided to turn around and walk back in to confront her. But when I got to the door she turned around and played “Ignorant”. Like I wasn’t even there, like what I endured never happened, as if what she did was okay. I know nothing will come of this, she won’t get talked to, I don’t know her name to point her out. But I know her behavior was appalling and I just hope this 0 star review is a blemish on the reputation of a store that was so significant in my life even as a child. No one ever should be treated the way she treated me, a life long loyal customer!

Lovely Christmas Decorations and North Pole Santa Claus Lane. There are so many gift ideas too.

I am a huge fan of Oakland Nursery. Plants are always high quality and the additional gardening supplies and decor is really nice. I have gotten most of my plants and trees from here.

Excellent place to browse and purchase landscape plants, trees etc. Excellent and knowledgeable staff. They have landscaping options from very small all the way up to very very large trees. Also have a nice inside store and during the fall and winter have a very nice Christmasshop inside. I recommend this location for plants and landscaping, advice, and installation

GET YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE HERE! I love how they hang the trees so you can see the tree in its entirety. Also, the shop has all Christmas decorations during the holidays and it's so pretty. The staff is great, and there is always someone around to help. This was our first year getting our tree there and we will definitely be going back for our next tree.

Such a big selection, fair prices and a pleasant atmosphere.

I’ve unfortunately never had a positive experience here. I came here this morning at 9:20am, and while busy already we were able to park just fine. I shopped both inside and outside, and while I was wandering no associate ever acknowledged me. It’s so bizarre; I walked past at least five and no one even so much as glanced at me let alone asked if I needed help. I had to wander until I found the Preen.
I think the worst though was the cashier. It was not busy which was great, but she had to either be hungover or high. I had to say I wanted to order mulch multiple times because she kept forgetting, and then finally at the end she seemed so zoned out I’m amazed I was able to finish the transaction.
I was at least able to get almost everything I needed. In the future I’ll drive the extra distance to go to Straders.

Store is huge, maybe a little over stuffed with merchandise that shouldn’t be in a nursery. I’ve bought a lot of house plants here in the past, and recently 2 of them died after a couple weeks. Returning them did not go well with a receipt. I was accused publicly in front of a busy store of me not watering them…over and over again by the female manager. She was rude, condescending, and told me at least 8x it was my fault for not watering them. Maybe I under watered, but I did water. Obviously the wrong plant for me, all my other plants at home are thriving. It was just those 2. Anyways, she finally begrudgingly gave me a store credit. For the record, I did water them, they were outside the entire time and it rained a lot. They were outside at Oakland Nursery, so I assumed they were outside plants. Not that you’ll care, but I’ll take my plant business elsewhere.

Love this place at Christmas time. They have one of the biggest sélections, for Christmas decor & atmosphere.

It really doesn’t get any better than Oakland Nursery… but i am only giving them 4 stars because their prices are SO OUTRAGEOUS !!!

Couldn't give Zero or I would. Bought a Christmas tree that was apparently dead. Called in, said no problem to bring a picture and receipt and can exchange. Drove 30 minutes & they said no, we need the tree. the dead one. never going back.

Staff has always been rude to say the least. I've gone to Oakland nursery for years and made my first return today. I was given the runaround and the gentleman at the information desk was reluctant to give the return to say the least. He told me point blank that it was my fault because the hydrangeas were placed in full sun so I needed to consider a different plant. Upon going out to their nursery and purchasing hydrangeas the first words I read on the giant information sign was that they thrive in full sun. Everyone that I had an interaction with seemed like they didn't want to be there and that they hated their lives. Absolutely terrible attitudes, terrible customer service, and extremely reluctant to give the warranty that they so freely advertised. Plants are beautiful, staff is horrendously rude and clearly uneducated as hydrangeas of the limelight variety thrive in full sunlight.

With how overpriced it is, one might expect decent customer service. I appreciate everything they do around Christmas time, but won’t be going there again.

I love this nursery. I live in Fl.. so I make sure when I'm in ohio I go here. Had the best & everything you need for xmas.

This place is terribly over priced and the staff pretentious and arrogant. I would look elsewhere. Trove is a much better service provider and priced.

Love this place. Great selection of plants and they really deck the place out for Christmas. Great holiday decorations and gift ideas.
