Had the team from Challengers trees service out to remove a 75 year old ash tree. They went straight for work and a little over two hours later they were cleaned up and on their way. They were professionals and worked safely as they removed the dying tree. This is the third time they have done work for me and I would highly recommend them.

Great company! It was easy to setup the appointment and it was a great price. They kept me updated on when they would arrive. They were able to remove the tree and stump within a few hours. Will definitely recommend and would use them again.

The crew did an excellent job removing four trees from our back yard. Quoting and scheduling were quick and easy, and the price was right. They had the stumps removed and everything cleaned up within four hours. We will certainly use Challengers again.

Challengers Tree Service came out on 4/3/25 to remove a tree that crashed into my house from the storm. I called them same day and they were out in about 3 hours and they did a fantastic job! They got the problem tree down and put a tarp on the roof for an emergency fix. I would highly recommend them for any service they do, especially their emergency services! Thank you again to Joe and his crew for coming out here so quickly and doing such a wonderful job!

We hired Joe and his team to remove some large, overgrown shrubs from our property. They went above and beyond, removing deep roots and grading the area upon completion. Despite the large amount of rain recently, you would never know there was large equipment in our yard to complete the job. Joe was professional, courteous, and responsive to questions. Price was extremely reasonable and job was completed quickly. I would 100% use this company again and recommend to others.

Awesome service, Joe and his crew were extremely professional, showed up every day at 9am worked until 6pm. The price was right, and after getting several estimates I'm glad I chose this company. Will recommend to anyone who listens.

UPDATE: I can't reply to the reply below so here is my reply to it. The expectation/reality here was way off. A crown reduction (my expectation) is very different from tree topping (my reality). What was discussed in our talks was a crown reduction and the tree being dead wooded. They removed every branch except the large ones, not every single branch was dead. Below he is referring to crowning but what happened to my tree was topping. I now know first hand that topping a tree is terrible and now I have to live with it. When consulting with a professional you expect to be given helpful advice on how to properly manage an unruly tree.

ORIGINAL: Well I hate to be the first one to leave a bad review here but it has to be done. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they were trimming my tree but they absolutely ruined it. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and have given the tree almost exactly a year to see how it would end up looking. It's still ugly to the point I got an anonymous letter in the mail from a neighbor telling me to get rid of it. I love my tree and am not willing to cut it down yet but the fact that, what I thought were professionals, would absolutely butcher a tree like this is absurd. They charged me close to $600 to do this too which makes it sting that much worse.

Could not recommend these people any less. See attached pictures for context. Still pissed about it.

The only positive is my friends and I have had a lot of laughs talking about Facebook posts and looking at these pictures. It's so ridiculous it's all you can really do.

Joe and his crew are such professionals. They show up on time, do quality work, are personable, and help out with whatever they can (and that means a lot to an older couple). The crew at Challenger's Tree Service is very professional and courteous! I am extremely pleased with how quickly and efficiently they removed a volunteer black walnut tree that started growing directly on top of our gas line and within 5 feet of our home about 5 years ago. It took about 20-30 minutes to carefully remove the tree and lightly grind the stump at my request.

Challenger's Tree Service understood my concern about removing the stump because of its location. Challenger's Tree Service considered my need and offered a proposal at the right price. As a courtesy, they contacted OUPS (Ohio Utilities Protection Service, 811) to mark the gas line. After which point I contacted them to set up a time to come out and perform a light stump grind (about 4 inches underground) to level it out.

Working with customer service at Challenger's Tree Service is delightful, both via Google Local Services online and over the phone. Joe Shortridge, the owner of the company, is also very polite and professional over the phone and via text message. I am extremely pleased with how well things have turned out and I would highly recommend Challenger's Tree Service to anyone needing tree/stump removal/grinding services. They did a fantastic job trimming the tree and clearing all the dead limbs. They were fast very friendly and did a fantastic job of clearing all the limbs after! Highly recommend them!!

The team that came out did an amazing job! Not only were they fairly priced but they were kind, respectful, and professional! They removed an old, large honey locust from our front yard. They were very detailed about clean up and I can’t believe how quick and coordinated it all was! I would highly recommend Challengers Tree Service!
