Another great experience with the crew from Davey Tree in the Capital District, New York. We used Davey last year for tree trimming and removal and were extremely pleased with their work. We ended up hiring them again to remove four trees and trim several others after winter storm damage in March. Devon came out to provide a very competitive estimate for the work and it was done in May. Devon is awesome to work with and so knowledgeable about trees and what work needed to be done. The three workers assigned to the job were Keegan, Joe and Ivan. The first two were here last year too. All three were friendly and professional. They were all extremely knowledgeable and skilled at their work. Very fun to watch them do their jobs with safety being their priority. Their cleanup after the job was impeccable. Great job once again and I continue to highly recommend this professional group at Davey Tree!

Excellent tree care company. They do everything from landscaping. To tree surgery or removal. The founder of the company John Davey started the science of tree surgery in the early 1900's. The company has been around since 1880

Negligent lack of regard for safety. Illegally park their trucks in the bike lanes.

If they are willing to put bicyclists in danger by blatantly ignoring super basic parking/driving regulations, it puts into question how many other safety regulations they ignore.

If I could give zero i would dont recommend then one bit. Most unprofessional company. They will cut down the tree but will not clean up there mess and leaves the mess for the home owners to deal with.

I cannot figure out, after multiple attempts, to delete my first review, but Davey came out and inspected the job and is willing to make changes to tree trimming. They were professional and courteous in understanding what we would like changed to meet our expectations. Thank you, Davey.

STAY AWAY! We hired Davey based on past experience with tree fertilizing. We hired them this time for tree and arborvitae trimming. We are completely dissatisfied with the quality of work and false expectations of what services would be provided upon job completion. They stated they would prune, trim a clean up arborvitae- no visible work is apparent after the job. They trimmed a maple improperly and may have jeopardized the health of tree according to a second expert opinion I have received. I was also grossly overcharged for the amount and quality of work performed. When meeting in a second meeting for work quality, we were explained that trimming arbs was not good for the health of the tree. That should have been explained in the first assessment prior to charging me for work they didn’t do.

This company applies toxic chemicals across my lawn, including substances I believe contributed to my dog’s cancer. The only warning they provide is a small sign tucked away in one part of the yard—hardly visible and easy to miss. Their applicators spray not just the grass but also the sidewalk and even part of the road, allowing these chemicals to wash into storm drains and the sewer system.

In my view, their practices show no regard for families, pets, or the environment. The end result is a lawn that may look like a golf course but is unsafe to walk on or enjoy because it’s saturated with harmful chemicals.

We had a tree uprooted with the storms that passed through. It landed on our neighbors’ property so I called Davey the following morning. They came out that day and scheduled the removal for the next day. They did a wonderful job! I have gardens surrounding the uprooted tree and they were very careful and did little damage.

Was hired through my power company to cut branches near power line. There must be 15 feet of clearance for safety reasons. I understand this, but this company cut branches that were not growing towards power lines and now my tree will die. I warned the guys I have a carpenter ant problem and to please do not over trim. They went way beyond cutting just the limbs near power lines. The first tree is my maple. While they did not over trim this tree, they still made unnecessary cuts that were NOT growing towards any power lines. You can see these in the picture. Now, the last tree in the picture WAS my tulip tree. It is a slow growing tree and was barely near any power lines. I told them that tree was not doing well and and to please not over trim that tree as well. You can clearly see they went out of their way to cut MOST OF THE BRANCHES OFF. I had a arborist evaluate the tree and I now have to have it removed (expensive... who has to pay for that?!) due to the fact it will now die and I already have carpenter ant infestation.

As a homeowner, I’m very concerned about the way this company treats lawns. They apply chemicals that I believe are unsafe, yet the only warning is a small sign placed in one corner of the yard that’s easy to overlook. I’ve seen them spray beyond the grass—onto sidewalks and even into the street—where it can wash directly into the sewer system.

It worries me that these practices put kids, pets, and the environment at risk. A lawn may look green and uniform, but what good is it if it isn’t safe for families to actually enjoy?

Uses the loves trucks stop in diamond oh 20 minutes from their company in Kent as their personal parking lot. Takes up half the parking lot with 13 trucks taking up at least 16 parking spots most being able to double park this leaves over the road truck drivers with no where to eat or sleep for the night,at least you could do is double park to leave more spots open for other drivers. Why not just park at your company 20 minutes away?

his company was hired by Embridge Gas.. thy arrived at my 80 year old mother’s woods and decimated a 20 foot path through her woods without her knowledge and without providing any paperwork. They provided not explanation and had horrible bedside manners. They then demanded from us how we wanted to handle the over 100 trees they took down. Supposedly, there was an easement, allowing them to do this. We were never provided the documentation supporting the easement, and my mom has owned this woods since the 1940s! Terrible company with terrible service. You try to call and talk to somebody and they just toggle you from person to person.. Such a disgrace that a company can do this and in the middle of winter destroying wildlife and property without any notification or documentation!
Do Not Hire Them!!

HORRIBLE!!!! It's been since December 10th (nearly two weeks ago) - workers left branches all over lawn and hillside - not returning calls. Damaged a California buckeye in the process. VERY disappointed! I opened a case through PG&E to complain about the service.

Outstanding care and service was provided by all of the gentlemen who worked at our home. Kevin scheduled the job around storms and rain and had a crane lift and 4 men at our property within a day before we had heavy winds. There are several 100 year old trees which needed trimming and unfortunately an 80 foot tall tulip poplar that had to come down in a maze of gardens. Mats were laid to protect our lawn which I don’t think other companies are prepared for. They worked hard and did a wonderful job without complaining that I occasionally watched safely out of harms way. The lead man Matt answered my questions and Josh and Aaron did the heavy lifting. Great team! Got most of a huge job done in a day and were back the next morning to finish a few details. I think Kevin’s estimate was correct because we didn’t receive any back charges. Thanks guys! We’ll call you again!

Making a complaint again the Davey entire crew of approx 15+ guys that appeared to maybe be off duty YET STILL WEARING your company logo. The entire crew that was staying at the Comfort Inn & Suits that also went into the connecting restaurant B4O4. I was there with my family for dinner along with several other families in the restaurant. The crew were all extremely loud, swearing vulgarly, carrying on without a care that there were even little kids there. AND SPEAKING TO THE WAITRESSES LOUDLY IN VERY SEXUALLY HARASSING MANNER!! From where I was sitting, there were a few of the older men on the NW side of the bar along with a few of the younger guys sitting at the E and the SE side of the bar making very derogatory comments to at least one of the females behind the bar. My female server came to check on our table, which I then asked her if she was ok with what these guts were saying. It was very evident that she didn’t want to say much but did say “Well I just try to ignore it because it can get worse if she was to say anything.” Your crew was wearing and representing YOUR BRAND AND NAME while drinking and sexually harassing female staff at a restaurant IN PUBLIC FOR ALL TO HEAR AND WITNESS! This took place on Friday 12/26/2026 approx 730/800pm, at the B4O4 located at 2424 S Mission St Mount Pleasant MI 48858. This was absolutely disgusting behavior and they ALL should be reprimanded. Understandable that they may have just come off of a long shift with helping the other utility companies during this current ice storm, but again THIS WAS INEXCUSABLE BEHAVIOR IN ALL OF THEM, INCLUDING THE ONES THAT DID NOT TRY TO STOP THE ONES WHO WERE SPEAKING INAPPROPRIATELY!
I just thought I’d post this for their corporate headquarters to know what kind of disgusting, disrespectful men they have working for them.

They do not respect properties around the ones they are working on. My property didn’t even have any trees that needed cut, but they sure like to drive through mine and leave fairly large branches laying on a brand new fence that was just installed this spring. All the branches in this photo are from the neighbors property that Davey did not remove carefully, and they don’t even have the respect to at least remove them from my yard and off of the new fence and shrubs that are planted in my yard. They also have piles of branches left in two other neighbors yards that did not have trees growing that they didn’t care to clean up. Just lazy and disrespectful work from this company, I’m sure they were the cheapest bid for NIPSCO and it sure shows in the quality of their work. They also park their equipment way up my driveway far from any easement or site where work is being done just in the way of my parking
