Roofing review

Attention all homeowners or business owners who are looking to have their roofs replaced. This is a review for Franciscus Roofing Company. I strongly recommend not using this company. They’re work and craftsmanship is subpar. They’re service is also subpar.
I bought a home in Florida, fall of 2019, which had to have a new tile roof installed before closing. The seller used Franciscus Roofing Company. The roof came with a guarantee which transferred to me once sale was complete. The following is my experience with this company.
1. They left roofing nails and debris around the home exterior which filled an entire 50 gallon contractor bag. I know because I cleaned it up.
2. Within the first year we had a leak that went into the garage. May 2020. I called the company and after some time a representative came out and located the leak from the roof. They said they fixed the leak. I replaced the drywall and repainted. The next rain showed the leak was never fixed. They never water tested their work. I called back and after a week another rep came to the house. They said they got it this time. I waited to re drywall and finish which was a good thing as it still leaked. It took 4 times before they fix it.
3. This past January, 2024 the next leak started. Directly over our front bedroom. I called the company on a Wednesday as water was pouring in from a rain. No one returned my call and when the next rain came on Friday I contracted another company to begin work to stop water coming into the house. Since the roof was still under warranty I called Franciscus again and finally a rep came to the house. He said he will fix the roof and not to worry. I told my new contractor that he can do the drywall repairs and roof stucco repairs but Fransiscus will be doing the roof work. My contractor agreed and called off his roofer. Fransiscus sent one man to fix the roof. He worked for a few hours and left. The rep came by the next day and water tested the work. It failed. He said he will be back the next day and fix it. He never showed up. Rain again more water. I called and got no response. I remembered the previous experience so I hired my contractor’s roofer and fired Fransicus off the job site. The new roofer sent a crew of 4 men and worked 8 hours to properly fix the roof. 2 hours were dedicated to redoing Franciscus’s work. Once they finished and water tested, the roof was perfect. They water tested again in the morning and all good. I was able to put the room back together.
4. I called the company and asked to speak to the owner. I was contacted by an agent, Tom, whom I explained exactly how Franciscus handled the job so poorly. I asked him for compensation for the roof fix only. Not waterproofing exterior wall, roof stucco, drywall, paint or carpet. Just the roofing bill as I thought since they couldn’t actually fix the roof then they would make good on the roofing work. Tom told me he would talk to the owner Lee Franciscus. I didn’t hear from Franciscus so I called in again and that’s when the owner Lee told me they fired Tom. So I explained to Lee what his company did he apologized and said he would look into it. I sent him the bill as well as pictures of his company’s work and the new finished roof. No response, nothing from this company for over 3 months. I realize that they don’t plan on making good on their subpar work. Disappointing.
5. I have yet another leak from roof. This time I just got my roofer to fix it. I have pictures of the work which once again is unbelievably poor.

6. I’m telling this story so hopefully no one else gets screwed by this company. Basically buyer beware.

Albert Hobar from Franciscus Roofing came to our house to check on our roof. He was very nice and easy to talk to and answered all our questions. He not only checked on the leaks, but did some things to help the situation until we can get them fixed. We really appreciated his kindness and his extra efforts to help us.

My experience with Franciscus Roofing was outstanding! With the help from Logan Godfrey and Steve and his crew. They were courteous, responsive and very professional. Logan followed up with me to make sure the work was done to my satisfaction.
My neighbors have commented on how well the crew cleaned up after the roof was installed and one is thinking of having Franciscus Roofing doing their roof too!
