Landscaping reviews in Troutdale, Oregon

I recently had Hillside Landscape Maintenance do a clean up project at a house we just purchased. They did and excellent and very professional job. They communication from the office staff about planning and scheduling the work was first rate and the crew made sure they knew exactly what we wanted done. I would highly recommend them t my family and friends.

The crew is very professional, thorough, and they do an excellent job every time. I highly recommend HLM and am so glad I popped my head over the fence years ago to ask for their card when they were working on my neighbor's yard.

Highly recommend Hillside Landscape. Absolutely busted butt on removing river gravel tilling adding soil and seeding. In our case it was a partial back yard grading, seeding and in one full day they were done. Came back to check on the yard periodically and we followed their instructions on watering etc. The images posted are exactly one month from the job finished to where it is at the 30 day mark. Did I say highly recommend? You bet! Thank you for the great communication and the hard work! Our family is extremely happy we have a full back yard vs an old RV parking pad and river rock covering everything else. Hope you enjoy the photos usually nobody posts aerial images of a before and after. :)

Going to knock this one down to one star. One year later over 80% of the yard has died. The photos I have posted show where one soil and another was laid down. Everything the has a dark soil color has died. I have reached out to Hillside Landscape and asked them to back the work done for over $7000. All I received back was "looks like you have a low spot would you like to restore it? A quote? NO! the top half is great! The fence line and deck area are dead and so is what I paid!

I have never left a bad review but take the money and run? Then request more?

Hillside has done two projects for me (yard/bed maintenance and pathway installation). I've appreciated their communication, friendliness, willingness to answer my questions, timeliness, and quality of work. I plan to continue with them for future projects.

Hillside does both my weekly yard maintenance and my annual gutter clean out. They do an excellent job caring for all the plants and regularly cleaning up debris. If you're looking for the best in Portland, this is your team.

Title: Complete Yard Transformation — Turf, Pavers, River Rock & Border Wall!

I can’t say enough good things about Hillside Landscape Maintenance! My sloped yard was a challenge — uneven ground, worn-out artificial turf, and no real structure — but their team completely transformed it into a space that’s both beautiful and functional. They expertly fixed all the landscaping problems in the yard created by myself and non professionals over the years.

They were able to reuse the existing artificial turf, saving me money while making it look practically brand new. The turf is now expertly fitted to the slope. On top of that, they added patio pavers to extend an existing patio that looks fantastic and creates the perfect spot to relax.

The crew also installed river rock throughout the yard, which gives everything a clean, natural look. To finish it off, they built a garden border wall that really defines the space and ties all the elements together.

Every step of the process was smooth and professional. Hillside office staff and crew were very helpful answering my many questions. The Hillside team arrived on time each day, worked hard, and clearly took pride in their work. They paid close attention to every detail, from the layout of the pavers to the placement of the rocks. Their cleanup was top-notch too — when they left, the entire area was spotless.

What really stood out was their communication and expertise. Bret took the time to explain what they were doing, offered great design suggestions, and made sure I was completely satisfied before wrapping up. It’s rare to find a company that combines craftsmanship, honesty, and professionalism at this level.

I couldn’t be happier with how my yard turned out — it’s now one of my favorite places to spend time. If you’re looking for landscapers who do high-quality work and truly care about the end result, Hillside Landscape Maintenance is the team to call.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly, highly recommend!

I recommend them. We had a retaining wall installed and our overgrown yard cleaned up. The work was done well and the crew was very friendly and professional. They even suggested a use for pile of rocks that had been left over from a past project and moved those for us. We plan to have them start maintenance with us.

I hired Hillside Landscaping & Maintenance for two projects around my home. One was general clean up and the other was spreading a fairly large amount of bark dust in an awkward location. I am very pleased with the results of both. Communication with Hillside has been excellent from the initial inspection and bid to the final tidying up. From start to finish everyone at Hillside has been friendly, attentive to detail, and professional. I am very happy with the price, the scheduling, and the final result. Based upon my experience with these two projects I intend to retain Hillside for ongoing monthly upkeep.

I have used landscapers many times in many places. My experience with Hillside was by far the most professional. The quality of work far surpassed our expectations. Consultation services prior to the actual project created a seamless experience. Communicating with the office was a pleasure. Thanks Gordon and Patti

Bret and his crew blew through our very large yard removing all the unwanted plants and repairing all the irrigation in just a couple of visits. Bret has been great to work with and they did an amazing job! Now we're ready for just weekly maintenance. Thanks guys!

We had a great experience! Very communicative team and I appreciated the work crew sending pictures since I couldn’t be there in-person. They were very patient with all my questions and could complete the entire scope of the project. Highly recommended!

Can't say enough great things about Hillside Landscaping and Maintenance. We started with just a quote for monthly lawn and garden service. Bret was great to give us an estimate that is fair and they do exactly what they stated in the cost no cut corners. We then had them repair a small retaining wall. Again fair price, job looks beautiful, all area's clean and pristine. This last request was to have our second story gutters cleaned. They not only cleaned the gutters but made sure the residue on the house and yard was cleaned as well. I am amazed every time at not only the excellent service EVERY time, but everyone encountered at Hillside has been kind, courteous, thoughtful and given the kind of service that we believed was a thing of the past. We absolutely are so pleased and recommend them highly.

We recently hired Hillside Landscape Maintenance for a project that included overdue yard maintenance and tree and shrub trimming. The work they performed looks amazing! They provided responsive communication, a detailed proposal and were patient with our questions. Bret and the crew showed up when they said they would and the work was completed on time. It was so easy to work with the Hillside team! They were all helpful, had a great attitude and we will definitely be using their services again!

We recently worked with Hillside Landscape for a sod replacement in both our front and back yards, and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

From start to finish, the team was professional, responsive, and easy to work with. They clearly explained the process, showed up on time, and completed the project efficiently. The crew did an excellent job preparing the soil, removing the old lawn, and installing the new sod so everything looks even, healthy, and well-finished.

What impressed us most was their attention to detail and pride in their work. The yard looks completely transformed, and they left the space clean and ready for watering and care.

If you’re looking for a reliable landscaping company that delivers high-quality results and great service, I would absolutely recommend Hillside Landscape.
