Bella Brothers Construction

I am amazed at how Bella Brother’s Construction has received positive reviews. I have only had negative experiences with them. They do a classic BATE AND SWITCH to steal your money, change projects, and do not stand behind their work. Their owner has no accountability or professionalism once you sign the contract and leaves you wondering where your deposit goes, when you will be assigned project managers, and when/if your projects will ever be started (or competed).
During my experience with them, they have changed project managers 4 times- one quit, one cursed me off (demanding money before project was completed), one was brand new and finally the owner “took over a project” before breaching our contract and backing out. They lacked all communication and follow up, which required me to constantly reach out to them for updates, project starts, etc. They constantly try to upsell you even though they had originally told/promised certain tasks would be done. And finally, the owner, himself, lacks all professionalism and accountability and backs out on projects via email with little explanation without the decency to actually discuss it with you.
In conclusion, if you do proceed to use Bella Brother’s construction, which I would HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND. I would make sure your contract includes EVERYTHING before singing- including start dates, completion dates, the fine details, what is included vs no included, etc.

We hired Bella Brothers for a complete rowhome renovation in the spring/summer of 2016. The short version of our review - we love our home, had a very good experience working with Bella Brothers, and wouldn't hesitate to hire them for a future project! For more details, keep reading!

Just to give you an idea of the scope of this project - this is a two story rowhome built in 1910, in need of a complete head to toe renovation. New electricity, plumbing, HVAC, all new windows and doors, new floors. On the first floor, they removed 3 walls, installed one new support beam, rebuilt the rear of the house (to the extent that it was basically an addition), renovated the entire kitchen, added a powder room, and recessed lighting. All bedrooms on the second floor were updated, and the bathroom was expanded and completely renovated. Half of the basement was finished, and laundry was moved from the first floor to the unfinished half of the basement.

Before we hired them, we must have spoken with at least 15 other contractors. Fortunately for us, we came across Bella Brothers and it felt like the right fit after our first interview. We had a very honest conversation about the project and Tom seemed to have the experience in rowhome renovations that we were looking for. Tom was very careful to make sure we stayed within our budget, which we appreciated. He also let us contact several references.

Bella Brothers also had one main asset that differentiated them from all of the competition that we considered - their full-time designer, Arsan and a boutique showroom. Not a single contractor that we spoke to offered either a designer or a showroom. Both Arsan and Tom helped guide us through the design process and were patient, thoughtful and informative throughout. Where other contractors said "no it can't be done," Tom and Arsan found a way. Visiting their showroom made the process easy - they had samples of most of the finishings (floors, tiles, knobs, cabinets, etc) in their showroom so we got to see everything in person before we made any decisions.

In regards to cost - During our initial meeting with Tom, he said his strategy is to budget for everything upfront so that there aren't any surprises down the road, and that turned out to be true. There were no "surprise" cost increases during the entire project for things that Tom's team didn't account for. The only cost increases were additional items that we decided to add to the scope on our own (either because we didn't think of it in our initial contract, or we simply changed our mind).

As for timing - the project only went slightly over our timeframe, but that was okay for our situation.

In regards to quality - Bella Brothers didn't go the "cheap" route - we have lived in the house for 5 months so far, and everything is functioning smoothly, looks great, and seems to be very durable and good quality.

As clients, I'm pretty sure that we were on the demanding, meticulous, hyper-focused and particular side -- I know that we were not "easy" clients. Not once during the process did the Bella Brothers team make us feel like we were too demanding or asking too much - they were incredibly accommodating to all of our requests and (not exaggerating) hundreds of emails and many phone calls we must have made during this process.

At the end of the day, we LOVE our new home and we would not hesitate to hire Bella Brothers for a future project. We highly recommend them to anyone doing a home renovation!

Had a great experience with Bella. New kitchen, remodeled second floor bathroom, added laundry on second floor, added bathroom on third floor and refinished all floors on all 3 levels. Worked well with my bank with regards to financing and was professional from start to finish. Would recommend and work with them again.
