Unprofessional and unresponsive, once paid the bulk of the cost of the job (which he insisted on) it would take multiple calls to get him to return to work. When he would finally show up it would be for a couple hours still not completing the work. Left us high and dry, never completed the job and did not do what he said he would do.

SCAM ARTIST. I had J.L. Smith come in to have a cable wire installed, and he 1) charged me $15 more than the top end he mentioned on the phone ($215 total), and 2) made several holes in my basement ceiling which he just covered with blanks, 3) ruined my baseboard with his drill, 4) pulled the cable wire through the living room floor and then back into the wall above the baseboard (leaving the wire exposed), 5) didn't show me how the wire was exposed until I asked why he was drilling through the floor, and then 6) tried to tell me that's normal for the wire to be exposed and no one would see it because it was behind a shelf. All the while trying to sell me on doing other jobs around my house. He talks very sweetly on the phone but did such a terrible job. Would never recommend and will never call again. I don't know how this man has such high reviews on Facebook and Thumbtack.
