Selected THS to do a major home addition including adding a bedroom and extending two others. This was a major effort. Tom was very professional and walked us through all the options. He delivered the final result on time as requested. Jonathan was prompt and easily reachable addressed all our concerns and kept us abreast of all developments during the construction. We started the design process with THS and ended up not proceeding because of exorbitant pricing.

First off, this was our first remodel attempt and we admittedly made a few mistakes. Our first mistake was paying a $4,000 “design fee” before even getting a real estimate from THS. When speaking with Tom on the phone prior to paying, he stated that an average gut remodel close to what we were looking for (an 8x10 bathroom) could run up to $30k on the high end.

After the “design” process, the initial quote was $47k for a total gut. It was stated that the initial estimates do tend to run over and we understood this, but this was almost 50% over the top end provided to us verbally beforehand. Getting the estimate after paying such a large sum was our mistake, and we gave the $4k to THS willingly (read: naively), but retrospectively, it seems wild to me that such a large amount is paid before a reasonable written estimate is given. Perhaps this is how firms such as this work, but it felt like a bait-and-switch sort of situation. We ended up getting a few more estimates from other contractors which were far more reasonable.

When we balked at the price, Tom suggested a very expensive bandaid (vinyl flooring over existing 70 year old floor, drywall over existing 70 year old tile, and reglazing 70 year old tub and surrounding tile) and the price was still close to $30k. Our second mistake was not getting more estimates up front. We ended up gutting the bathroom with a different contractor for less than the expensive bandaid proposed by THS.

Another incident that rubbed us the wrong way was the accidental cashing of a check which arrived extremely late after being lost in the mail. A second check for the same amount was delivered in person, and weeks later the initial check arrived via mail. We were told the lost check was destroyed, and received an email a few days later stating it had accidentally been cashed. The money was refunded immediately by THS, but this could have created a very bad situation for us.

In fairness, THS and the team were extremely professional throughout, and I’m sure they do high quality work, I just can’t imagine that their product is that far superior to warrant such a ballooned price. I also give them credit for returning what was left of our “design fee”, which they did not have to do.

Working with Tom and his team as his HVAC Contractor permits us to see the quality of construction and the attention he gives to all of us customers. Top notch service!

We have used Tom's company for several renovations over the years with both my home and my parents. Doors, windows, a beautiful pergola, and renovating an in-law suite with kitchenette. Very happy with the work, detail, communication and timeliness!

We remodeled our bathroom, livingroom and master bedroom. The estimate & timeline was given to us and the job was completed 2 days after the estimate completion date During the remodel we made several big changes and they were very accommodating. I would highly recommend Tom and his team.

Tom, Jon, and THS team just completed a remodel of our basement with the installation of a full bath. They did a really good job and when there were any hiccups they made it right. We encountered about 5-6 of their subcontractors and they were all very professional and really great to work with.

We had a substantial project done at our home by Total Home Solution. We renovated our kitchen, bathroom, basement and backyard deck. The workmanship and design are fantastic and we are delighted with the results. It was a real pleasure working with Tom, Chris, Joe, and the entire team. When we have projects in the future we will definitely have the work done by Total Home Solution.

We hired Total Home Solution to put an addition on our 100 year old home. Construction always comes with bumps but they were great with communication and took care of everything that popped up. We love our addition!!

They managed the make-over of our patio - adding full outdoor kitchen, fireplace and a big roof. It was a large project. Work started when they indicated, and their team was onsite daily until the project finished. Work was high quality and their teams were very knowledge. Good communication through process. The project manager was onsite regularly to talk through an hurdles and check on work progress. They have also been responsive after the job on any little issues that arose, and helped with a bathroom remodel after the main project.

This was our first experience with home renovation and building an addition. Friends told us to expect hassles and delays. They said 'don't be surprised if the project runs overtime and overbudget.' Well it did happen. But not by much and I love my new space. I have a modern space which is bright and has clean lines and I have Tom, Jon and Shannon from Tribe Kitchen. Thank you all.
