Used Armstrong for a few years and was always happy with the service. Professional, friendly and informative. This year they rescheduled appt for the next day which was fine, but then the next day they were a no call- no show. Just bad business.

We moved into the house and I asked the realtor, "Who supplies oil around here?" He answered, "Armstrong." So, I ordered oil from Armstrong. It seemed very "pricey" but I figured that all were about the same price (give or take a little). Armstrong is approximately $1.10 to $1.15 PER GALLON higher than six of the local heating oil suppliers. One of those suppliers (the one I am now with) has a perfect 5-star rating from customers. On a 200 gallon purchase, that's $225.00 more. With 3 more likely refills, that's $900.00 more per year. Wow.

I bought a house that had oil based baseboard heating. The previous owners had a boiler maintenance contract with this company. As per the contract I have to buy oil from Al Armstrong. Beginning of January 2021, I spoke to a lady in this company and asked about the details of the contract and if it was transferable. I was told the contract is for boiler maintenance and they would clean the boiler sometime later in the year and yes the contract is transferable. She also told me my previous owners are their customers since 1993, that is 27 long years. I asked about a minor leak where the copper pipes are attached to the boiler and a lot of corrosion due to this leaking for years. I was told the current contract does not cover plumbing. I said I understand that. Because the contract stated I have to buy oil from this company I continue to buy oil at their ridiculous prices with the hope they will help clean the boiler. To give you an idea when I could get oil for $1.95 a gallon elsewhere Al Armstrong sold oil to me for $2.90 a gallon. That is $0.95 per gallon, the next time they charged me $0.65 per gallon more and when the third time I have to buy oil in beginning of April they wanted $0.51 more per gallon than I could find elsewhere. I asked when is my next scheduled maintenance? Guess what? the only maintenance was done in November 2020 when my previous owners still owned the house and there is no more maintenance unless I singed up for another contract which I was not told upfront but I was told the service call and boiler are still covered. So I asked there is a gauge I guess it is a temperature gauge which is filled with water and I cannot read anything. Clearly it is broken and needs replacement. Is that covered? The story changed again. We have to see what it is and the service call is free but if we have to buy the part we will get it at the best price. Sure, I am willing to believe these crooks who made me believe there is one more maintenance that is part of the contract and sold oil at ridiculous prices and once again walked back on the coverage will get me the best price on a part. This is how they treat a customer of over 27 years and I can imagine what kind of treatment anyone else will get. So in a nutshell you have to pay them $400 a year for a boiler maintenance contract and pay their ridiculous premium on oil prices and in return they are not transparent with anything and nothing is actually covered. Stay away form these crooks if possible.
