I hired Jim & Sons to make some repairs found in our home inspection. They were communicative and performed the work quickly and neatly. We now have them on our go-to list for all things electrical!

I cannot say enough good things about this business. I have several projects I need done and they came out quickly and provided great estimates, that were easy to understand, and they were very knowledgeable with options and recommendations. Ron came out to do the work in the bedroom. He was friendly and very professional. He happily answered any questions I had along the way. There was minimal drywall work and the patching was left clean and easy for us to touch up. All debris was vacuumed up and there were no boxes or wire clippings left behind. But most of all, the job was perfect, everything I wanted at its conclusion, and within the budget. I look forward to working with them on every electrical project I have, going forward.

Since my husband and I bought our own home they have done all of our electrical work. When Jim’s team was preparing to install electric baseboard heaters in our third floor nursery, he found out the baseboard heaters we ordered to have installed weren’t arriving on time ( this was in the winter) he came on his own time and dropped off his own electric heaters for us to borrow until they arrived to be installed. We will never use anyone else. Amazing prices to boot.

Thought there was a larger issue with the breaker box, as a breaker kept flipping and sparking. Was told I'd get a free estimate on the problem. Turns out a defective appliance just needed to be unplugged and then the breaker flipped back fine. I was never called to talk about the problem or to have pricing relayed prior to doing the work.

Was charged a "minimum fee" of $200, which, given the simple situation, I find pretty ridiculous. Will not be going to again.

TL;DR Professional electricians, clean work, timely and the right price

I appreciate experts who help their customers understand what they are paying for. That builds trust and shows integrity in an industry that sometimes feels it's lacking that all around.

His guys that came out to give me a quote double checked other electricians' work and informed me on all the decisions I needed to make to complete the job.

One thing that was awesome - one of the other electricians told me they would have to knock out walls to install new outlets for me. Jim's guys didn't do that at all - everything was so nice and clean - no extra work for me to go along with my regular life!

This is one of the best companies I have ever worked with. I needed a full rewire of my house to get rid of knob and tube wiring. Out of the 7 quotes that I got, this is the first one that was honest. Joe and his team worked hard and got it done ahead of schedule. There were some curveballs and with every one they handled it professionally and gracefully and always came with solutions to our wiring problems. We were living in the house during the rewiring and they cleaned up everyday before we got home making sure it was safe for my children. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for electrical work.

Main circuit breaker tripped, and wouldn’t reset. Jim & Sons had someone out the same day, and presented me with two options. As breaker box was @ 60 years old I opted to replace it. Parts obtained and work done quickly and neatly. When I thought there was a problem they responded immediately and cheerfully. When it turned out the was no problem they were gracious, and didn’t charge me for the unnecessary visit.

Extremely smooth and professional experience. Read reviews, reached out via form on website, received a call within 15 minutes, had an appointment that afternoon, diagnosed both issues we had, fixed them on-site. Staff was friendly, informative, easy to work with. We've found our new electrician!

We hired Jim and Sons to address the knob and tube wiring in our historical home, a significant safety concern for us. What followed was an absolute nightmare of unprofessionalism, incompetence, and rudeness.

First, they started the job and left for the day, not realizing our third floor had no power. We overlooked this initial oversight, thinking it was a simple mistake since they were due back in a couple of days. When they returned, they claimed they had “finished” the job. However, the knob and tube wiring was still connected! When we asked why, they said they were hired to install lights, not fix the knob and tube. This confusion was supposedly due to a mix-up with their admin. Despite our frustration, we decided to pay for the lights and the knob and tube work.

But the problems didn’t end there. Even after supposedly finishing the knob and tube work, several outlets and lights didn’t function. We had to hire them again and pay even more to fix these issues. Shockingly, we discovered they had lied about removing all the knob and tube wiring. We had to call them back again and pay more for them to finish the job they were initially hired to do.

When they finally left, a couple of outlets still had no power. To make matters worse, we discovered they had put all the outlets and lights from two floors on a single breaker. This causes the breaker to trip constantly, and our power flickers whenever we turn anything on.

When we complained about this mess, they were extremely rude and condescending, demanding more money to fix their mistakes. Working with them was like pulling teeth, and their attitude throughout the process was infuriating.

We would never hire Jim and Sons again. They were unprofessional, incompetent, and rude. Avoid them at all costs if you value your time, money, and sanity.

UPDATE AFTER RESPONSE: The originally request was to eradicate knob and tube, that was clearly communicated to the estimater and his wife at reception. There was zero communication between team members and service was terrible and they performed a real hack job. DO NOT HIRE

Did great work and we're very knowledgeable and professional.

OMG, these guys are the best! We had a problem with GFIs where the breaker seemed good but the GFI and just some of the downstream outlets and GFIs were dead. For me it was a real head scratcher.
Rick and Tony came out the next day and arrived ontime at 830 am. Within an hour they diagnosed and fixed the problem which was faulty wiring of the GFI.
I told them they did not have to but they insisted on repeatedly putting on booties when coming into the house.
They have a $200 fee for coming out that covers repairs if they do not need to install expensive equipment. I think that is very reasonable in today's world.
Rick, who lead the team, strikes me as being honest as the day is long.
It is so good to find intelligent, honest, and competitant craftsmen to fix stuff when it needs.
Jim's Electric is now my go-to place for electrical repair, inspection and installation.
