Solar Energy System reviews in Antioch, Tennessee

They say it starts at the the top and thanks to Steve Johnson, Lightwave Solar's owner, it appears that everyone in his company understands what it takes to work at a very high level of professionalism and expertise.
Every member of the Lightwave team made the process of adding on to our existing solar array, easy. Pre-install was completely without issue. They evaluated my needs, then worked with the TVA to determine the maximum system size, filed the proper forms, obtained permits, coordinated with my local utility company, and answered all my questions. They completed this part of the process early and were prepared to start my install two weeks earlier than they originally scheduled.
The install crew was friendly, professional, neat and worked well with each other. In addition to tying the new panels into my existing solar system, they also tied everything together to work with my whole house, 36kW propane generator - a fairly complex process.
When the install was complete, they took the time to explain how everything worked and showed me how I could access all of my solar generation statistics online.
It’s rare that I feel comfortable recommending an organization without reservation, but in this instance, I can say that after three months, everything is running perfectly and I’m still very happy with every aspect of the job. -
We purchased solar systems from Lightwave Solar for both our business and our home in 2020. The people involved were clearly knowledgeable and helpful and the results we are experiencing are great. It was especially helpful the way the company took ownership in managing every detail of a Federal USDA grant from front to back. The process took a very long time from contract signing to finish for various reasons. The experience would have benefited from more timely communication from the company, our only significant complaint. Doing this in the year of COVID19 surely made it a bigger challenge, All persons involved were cheerful, optimistic and passionate (as well as knowledgable) about their role in expanding clean energy solutions. We chose Lightwave because they had strong references for being a strong performer in this market. We were not disappointed.

The Lightwave Solar team was easy to work with, responsive and reliable. They considered several alternative layouts before settling on the best configuration for our situation. We are please to have 10 KW of solar panels, which covers most and at times, all, our energy usage for a month. Thanks!

Early in 2016 our family broke ground in building our new home. We knew we wanted solar and we had reached out to the companies in the area and selected Lightwave solar. From the beginning, they made it as easy as turning the key. From applications for the solar program all the way to getting things secured with our future electric company. After moving into our home, the installers were out and finalized our system bringing everything online. Our first full month of November we received our first bill. Two electric cars, entertaining during the holidays and getting a new home set up meant we'd used a good bit of electricity. $17 Dollars...the utility company had as a credit! This was amazing. This was an amazing investment and an equally awesome experience.
If you are looking to learn more about solar, you must reach out to Lightwave Solar. -
Have had the solar panels producing power for 3 months now and seems to be working great. Took longer than expected for installation, was supposed to get started right after first of year but didn't get going till April. Also power company had agreed to relocate house meter next to panels out in field but later decided not to so additional trenching had to be done to bury wiring. Overall quite pleased with system and installation, looking forward to see how system does throughout a full year, so far so good.

I needed LightWave's help after a wind storm caused a tree to fall on my house. The tree destroyed ten solar panels on my roof. LightWave's technicians visited me to assess the damage and plan repairs. LightWave's project manager took over from that point. After the design was complete and approved, the installation crew completed the job in a single day. Every LightWave representative was pleasant and professional. I would recommend them to anyone who needs their services.

The whole team at LightWave Solar did an all-around excellent job! They showed up on time as expected and communicated everything very clearly on what I can expect to see and happen. They were all very professional and courteous throughout the entire process. I am already seeing MUCH lower electric bills. Thanks again to everyone at LightWave Solar, I greatly appreciated your services.

The team at LightWave Solar is helpful, communicates well, very professional. We had a very good experience with LightWave in assessing and purchasing our solar system. The technicians are very good and LightWave Solar uses very high quality parts.
This is an update related to the historic ice storm that began on the weekend of January 3, 2026. We have a 24 panel LightWave solar system and two PowerWall backup batteries that store 26 KWs at full capacity. As soon as the national weather service sent out the winter storm warning our system began to fill the batteries from the grid and by midday Friday, January 23 we were at 100%. Having experienced the ice storm of 1994 I was determined to do everything possible to make it through this one at home.
Next, I am aware that in extremely cold weather batteries become less efficient so I insulated our PowerWall batteries (which are located on the west side of our house on the outside) using eggshell foam, a sleeping bag, an old bed spread, and on top, a water resistant tarp that I folded in half. I tightly wrapped the insulation using rocks on the bottom and top of the batteries to hold it all in place.
The other thing that helped us is we have a gas fireplace in our living room that is one of the newer models that is very efficient and radiates a lot of heat to the room (it is a vented system that we purchased through AshBusters).
When we woke up on Sunday morning January 25 we looked out the window to see snow and ice covering everything. Trees and tree limbs were down all along our street and in our back yard. Thankfully none had hit our house or damaged the power line from the utility pole to your house.
We immediately looked at the Tesla app to check the status of our system, and sure enough, it showed that there was a grid outage and we were on the battery backup system. We were getting no solar at that point since the panels were snow and ice covered. We turned on the fireplace, used only one light in the room we were re in and planned how we were going to survive what might be several days of grid outage. We had enough canned food and water to last a prolonged outage, but we were going to need to conserve as much battery backup as possible.
We then contacted some neighbors and friends who were completely without power and no heat and invited them to come stay with us as long as they needed to. Six friends stayed with us 1-2 nights and our neighbors across the street came by everyday to charge their cellphones. We did not receive grid power until Wednesday late afternoon February 3. Our fireplace kept three rooms reasonably warm (ranging from 60 - 68 degrees F) through the 10 day period. By using only 10-15 % of stored battery per day we managed to never lose power and the lowest battery storage point was 19%.
By Wednesday January 28, the sun had melted the snow and ice from 8 panels and we began to get some solar power (Yay!). Each day brought a few more panels on line. By the end of that week almost all panels were generating power to the batteries and the worst of the freezing temperatures was behind us.
We conserved battery power by only using the microwave to heat food, only made hot coffee once a day, never used more that one lamp (ate by candlelight each dinner - which was rather romantic), and shut the doors to all rooms that were not being used to conserve heat from the fireplace.
We have a gas water heater in the basement - so we used plenty of hot water (washing dishes by hand, taking showers) because the vent pipe from the water heater to the chimney radiates some heat and helped keep our pipes from freezing.
Bottom line - we survived this storm fairly comfortably at home because we had the LightWave solar and battery backup system and a gas fireplace. I highly recommend this to you not only because it might be a life saver in an emergency like we just experienced, but it will also significantly reduce your electric bill throughout the year. -
The entire team at LightWave Solar went above and beyond to ensure that our solar install was done on time, on budget, and to our satisfaction. Professional in every way. I can't get over how seamlessly they have integrated everything to our 1960 built home. Very well done. An added bonus is their handling of the necessary licenses, myriad forms and paperwork and approvals from local power company and TVA. These guys deserve 10 stars!

The process to get started is the most involved but once the installation is approved by your local power company, you're ready to go. It took about a month from approval to turning the system on. There were hiccups but the team at LightWave handled them all quickly and professionally. Everyone who came to our home for installation and commissioning was extremely professional and neat. The jobsite was cleaned up each day which I appreciated. They also gave us an estimate of solar generation based on month and for the first month they were spot on! I would highly recommend if you're looking for a solar system to consider this company.

I loved my experience with LightWave Solar! From the get go they were very professional and easy to work with. Getting solar panels on my house was a bit of a process with obtaining proper agreements and permits with utilities etc, but they handled every step-from sales through installation. I was impressed by the technology they use to project over the course of the year how much sun will hit each part of the roof to help decide if and where to get panels. They also have different financial options and help navigate what's best investment for you. And there are currently major tax benefits! Feels like a smart investment mixed with a really great feeling, knowing that the power I use in my house (and to charge my electric car) are from the sun. It's pretty amazing to get my utility bill now, and depending on the month, it is either a very very small amount or they pay me. Going solar has been a great experience and I can't recommend LightWave enough for helping me to do that!

Aaron was the best guy to work with. He was very personable and had great customer service. We were always happy to see him with the crew that was working that day because we knew we would be taken care of. Thanks Aaron! *I wanted to say thank you to Andrew as well! They are a great team together, and Andrew did such an amazing job helping us as well!*

Lightwave Solar did a great job on my house! They were very professional, answered all my questions, and worked around my schedule. The solar panels are working well!

Lightwave solar has been an awesome partner to deploy the solar+battery solution. Not only are they highly professional in both responsiveness, meeting dates, and the installation itself, but they also feel like a partner, constantly listening to input from my end and applying it when needed. Cherry on top was that they were the lowest price per kWh plus storage from all contractors I queried, so not only was their price right, but also quite fair. I was so happy with the experience that I already moved forward with an expansion to fully build my roof area. Only challenge I found was regarding install times. They are so busy their schedule is about 6 months backed up. Still, it was worth the wait.

From start to finish, Lightwave's team of installers were professional and reliable, always showing up early each morning to get to work.
One of the things that impressed me the most about them was their attention to detail and their commitment to addressing all of my concerns. Throughout the installation process, they took the time to answer any questions I had and to ensure that I was completely satisfied with the work they were doing.
Another thing that I appreciated about Lightwave Solar was their dedication to leaving my property clean and tidy at the end of each day. They took great care to clean up any messes and to ensure that my property was left in better shape than when they arrived.
Since the installation, They've has continued to impress me with their commitment to customer service. They have kept in regular contact with me to answer any questions or concerns I have about the system, as well as to provide me with help using the solar monitoring apps.
Overall, I highly recommend Lightwave Solar to anyone who is looking for a reliable and professional home solar installer. Their attention to detail, commitment to customer service, and dedication to leaving my property clean and tidy have truly set them apart from the rest. -
The folks at LightWave Solar are awesome. They were patient and very responsive to my long list of questions prior to signing the contract. After signing the contract, they kept me updated on progress and walked me through steps that required my input on the permitting process. They made me aware of the current step and the next step so I knew what to expect. The installation crew was knowledgeable, efficient, friendly, and went overboard to make sure the installation met my needs. The accounting folks were also great to interact with. Every aspect of my solar purchase went smoothly thanks to the great people at LightWave....from the initial sales, business office, and installation crews--all of them make customer service a PRIORITY.

We have relied on the Lightwave Solar team for three installations including our home and two businesses. Everyone starting with Rachel McCulley and Justin Huff on the front end planning to Evan Fitzgerald and Liam Keele on the execution were very professional, responsive and followed through.
We live in a rural area with frequent mostly short term outages. Our Tesla battery system has filled the gap reliably.
One of our businesses is grocery market with a great deal of refrigerator/freezer units. Solar reduces our reliance on the grid quite a bit.
Our first install was for our resort and Marina business beginning about six years ago. We have had one repair which Lightwave responded to timely. Otherwise, the system continues to produce energy reliably. -
My solar panels and Tesla power wall was installed by companies that no longer exist. My power wall stopped working. I reached out to lightwave solar for help. Within two weeks, they worked with Tesla to get ensure my power wall was under warranty and installed new batteries. It works brilliantly now. They were communicative and diligent. The price was very fair considering two technicians had to drive from Nashville to service me in Memphis. I recommend lightwave to all.

I was building a home completely off grid and was a little nervous because I would not have another source of power, but light wave was proposed a plan, executed that plan perfectly and the results have been incredible. 50 days with nothing but Solar and batteries powering my 4000sqft home. Thank you Lightwave.

They are terrible and unprofessional. Came to my house and the unprofessional immature surveyors didn’t do a survey worth doing. Then, the company had me hanging on for months for a quote they never intended to provide. When asked why they just said they don’t want to provide it. I lost time and money getting the run around from these clowns.
Very poor professionalism and business practice. Do yourself a favor and choose the next company to save time and money. -
Over 15 years ago, Light wave Solar came out and installed a system. Our inverter finally needed to be replaced. Called Lightwave, they sent someone out very quickly to diagnose. Found the problem a burnt circuit, needed to be replaced.
In a timely fashion they sent out 2 technicians to install the New Inverter. These guys Hector & Joshua were very professional. All I did was ask that they mount the new unit as flush as possible. The new unit was bigger and was worried it would stick out to far and get knocked by someone walking by. They said they understood and got to work. I was there when they were spit balling initial ideas and I can tell they were thinking. I left them alone to figure it out. walking by to check progress I noticed they abandoned their original idea and went with a new idea which looked better. not long later I walked by to check in again and they went 1 step further, coming up with a 3rd way to mount it which came out the best and most flush mount possible. They had to change courses a few times, Without Me Babysitting them, they did the right thing and went the extra mile. They did not just put it up and get it running as quick as possible, they took their time and did the job right. Showing adaptation, creativity, and common sense. Traits hard to find now a days. Thanks LightWave Solar for over 15 years of service : O )
