Great company!! I had Black Hat come out to inspect my chimney and fireplace after my wife and I purchased our home. We had a wood stove that was rusted out badly due to a missing cap on the chimney. We just wanted a fireplace for the effect and not really to heat the house. Another company that came out before them quoted us for a lot of repairs to be done that Black Hat said was in good shape and didn't need to be repaired. They saved us a ton of money!! And also, he gave us a cage to go around the fireplace and chimney cap that someone had given him so we had a useable fireplace after $85 instead of the $6000 quote from the other company! We will use them again no question!

Black Hat is AMAZING!!! I called in the morning and they had a crew nearby. Within 2 hours they were at my home! We thought we had to have the chimney swept. But they were so honest and told me that it was clear and didn't need swept. We did have a problem with the damper but they were able to fix it and save us over $500!!! My total bill was under $100!
I had called a local chimney sweep, but he
told me over the phone that he would need to sweep the chimney and it would be $150, without even coming out to see what the problem was.
I am only calling Black Hat in the future!

Called Black Hat Chimney for a water drip in the fireplace. They came out and inspected and told me that it was a simple fix and was straight up honest in what I needed done. Kirk and his son were honest and amazing! Definitely will use them again! I highly recommended this company!

Nothing but praise for Kirk Sims and Black Hat Chimney. We lost a chimney cap and liner due to a storm. I had no idea who to contact. I found them in a Google search. I emailed him after closing and he contacted me by phone within 30min. He was at my house at 8am the next morning. He spent 15 minutes and within 24 hours I had an estimate. When I accepted the estimate he scheduled immediately. Appeared early the appointed day and was done in an hour. He swept my roof, replaced a gutter cap at no charge and stuck to his estimate. One of the easiest transactions I have ever had! Highly recommend!

Black Hat arrived on time & offered my family a fair assessment of the current condition of our fireplace/chimney and was unconcerned with pushing high cost remedies.

I called to have one chimney inspected in our 170 year old house, purchased a few years ago. We were investigating the potential of opening up a fireplace that had not been used for decades. These men were knowledgeable, courteous and professional as they advised us on the safest and most economical direction to persue. In the end, they advised and did not even charge for their service inspection. I would recommend them to anyone in need of chimney and fireplace inspection.

These guys are so honest...it was incredible. I had been told by another company that I needed some repairs to my chimney, costing a couple of thousand dollars. They came out and told me the truth that I didn't need any repairs. I would highly recommend them to anyone!!!

Black hat did an excellent job cleaning my chimney and fireplace. They even made me a metal cover to put over my ash tray since mine was broken at no cost. I would highly recommend Black Hat to anyone needing a cleaning. These guys were very kind as well as professionals. They were also the most reasonably priced in Midle Tn. I checked numerous!!!!

I never leave reviews but i just had to for these guys! Kirk and his son were fantastic!! They cleaned both our chimneys that hadn’t been cleaned in years. Repaired the cracks and sealed it to. Put caps on the top to keep birds from getting in to. Then we were missing a shingle on the roof and just decided to fix it while he was up there at no charge!! Such great people! They do all kinds of work so give them a call if you need some handy work done. Thanks guys!!

We bought a house with 3 chimney flues, Black Hat came out and inspected all three but only charged us for the one dirty one they cleaned. The owner of the company was the one who came out, and he talked us through the safe use and care of two very different types of fireplaces in our home. He was incredibly knowledgeable and reasonably priced, not wanting to charge us for unnecessary things. He ended up charging us much less than what was an already reasonable quote over the phone.

Great local company to work with! Had an estimate with another popular chimney business and Black Hat definitely had the better pricing, but also didn’t oversell. They were very straightforward and I truly believe were honest with what needed to be done. Warranty included. Will definitely recommend and use again.

Our fireplace has always had problems between cracks in the liners and cracks around the edges of the firebox to the sound of water dripping when it is raining, so much so that we never trusted lighting a fire in it. When we found Black Hat Chimney, we asked for a cleaning and an inspection. Kirk arrived and immediately saw some problems with the lining, mud work, and trouble with the cap on the chimney. He warned us that lighting a fire in our fireplace would cause our house to fill with smoke due to the obviously poor placement of the liners in the firebox not being aligned with the flue. He immediately saw concerns that we had noticed previously and others that we had not. He was very knowledgeable and honest in his inspection. Upon looking up the flue, he declared it did not need to be cleaned and he was not going to charge us for a cleaning fee or an inspection. He came on Friday morning and had a quote drawn up for repairs by Monday morning. The quote is very reasonably priced and we are glad to finally have a trustworthy company for our fireplace needs. When we first moved into our house, we had a well known chimney company inspect it and they gave us a very high priced quote for some bogus repair work, did not point out half of the problems that we have seen over the years (and which Kirk noticed immediately), and left us with a very bad taste in our mouth. I am SO GLAD to have found Black Hat Chimney and highly recommend them.

Unfortunately, your response to my previous review is very inaccurate, you never attempted return a call after multiple attempts to call you in the past couple of weeks. We did have the flashing redone as a last ditch effort to stop the leaks - sadly it was money lost- we opted to not use your company for that because you were pretty confident that what you did by replacing the cap would fix the leak when in fact it did not. Ultimately the bad review was left because of a failure to fix the problem but more than anything a failure to communicate. If anyone from your office had simply reached out last week to say, unfortunately we do not offer a warranty on that work, and been willing to discuss the issues that would have been very much appreciated, instead you simply ignored the calls which is unprofessional.

The gentleman who came to our home was honest and upfront on every aspect of our fireplaces. He was very informative, explaining everything he did - and about the set up of our fireplaces.

Kudos to Megan in the office, as she was very helpful, too. We trust Black Hat Chimney and look forward to having them back to service our fireplace needs.

We had them do chimney cap for us a few years ago, and have had leaks ever since. In a recent inspection, another chimney company found that it was improperly installed with parts being installed upside down. We reached out to them to give them an opportunity to see if there was a warranty aspect that would cover it or if they would come out to make adjustments to it. We never even received a call back. We are now going with a different chimney company, but it is sad that people will not stand behind their craftsmanship or even return a phone call.

Had some repair work done by Black Hat Chimney. When I tried to light a fire for the first time, there were some issues with smoke coming back into the house. They came out the next day and showed me how he starts the fires to prevent that from happening. Gave me a pack of starter material and didn't charge me anything for his visit. He was super nice and knowledgeable and I will definitely be going to them for all my fireplace maintenence needs!

They did great work and gave great information for me concerning using my wood stove.

I’m so happy with these guys. Very professional and showed up right on time. I could not believe the amount of creosote that came out of our pipe. They got it done quickly and no mess. I feel much better about using our stove this winter. I will only use them in the future. Give them a call…you won’t be disappointed.

Never got service from this company however I was at McDonalds getting breakfast today. When I got to the window to pay, I was told the person in front of me paid. What a blessing to me and family! We're so appreciative so I thought I leave a review to say thank you! That really made our morning! ☺️
