This is J and J Electrical, James Howell has his own business. The bad reviews are for another company J and J Electric, this is wrong to post on the wrong company. He has years of experience and very good pricing, lowest I found. Work was done very timely and got me on schedule quickly.

James came to the rescue when we needed a new meter connection. Brought us up to code and we passed inspection and got power restored. Met with him at 8am and was done by 2. Thankyou James!

Highly recommend Square Footage Maintenance and Remodeling. They removed existing wooden deck and replaced with composite deck with metal railings. Workmanship is excellent.

Amanda and Amy replaced rotted wood on our large shed with covered patio areas, then painted the shed and stained the rafters and posts on the patio covers. They also sealed areas on the metal roof to prevent water damage. They did an excellent job. We highly recommend Amanda and Amy!

Tommy responded to my electrical issue the same day I submitted the maintenance request, and got his electrician out to the house within 24 hours. The issue was fixed within 30 minutes. Everyone I encountered was kind, helpful, and professional. Would highly recommend!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. He lied & took my money - did not finish job. A room that should of took 4 - 5 months due to weather has gone into a year. Having to get another contractor to come re-do and finish job.

DO NOT USE!!!!!- this contractor used our company to install windows for the remodel he was responsible for and then never paid us! We are now out $9925.00, we have put him in collections but based on other reviews that probably doesn't bother this guy at all. I don't know how he's even still in business, his business license needs to be revoked!

My experience with Square Footage Remodeling was amazing. They are professional, extremely knowledgable and allow the customer to have creative involvement, while guiding them with the experience of a professional of over 20 years in the field. I had molding added to my kitchen, living and dinning areas, my oven encased, painting throughout the whole house, entire bathroom remodels, new lighting, as well as some much needed plumbing work done. I believe if you need it created, built, or replaced that they can get it done. The work is executed in a pristine and timely fashion. They are transparent and communicate the process very well. Worth every penny!

I must say working with Tommy from Square Footage I couldn't have asked for better service. I really appreciate how they prioritized or issue and concern. We were looking to leave for Thanksgiving Holiday the next day and was having a constant water leak and they made sure that we were able to leave for our trip on time. Tommy really stayed in contact and being sure everything for the repairs were completed and on time. For all of your home repair needs, please check out Square Footage Maintenance and Remodeling!

I am a real estate investor and I hired Square Footage to do some renovation work on a 1920’s craftsman home. In the beginning I just needed Tommy and his team to do some painting (interior and exterior), take a wall down, and do some kitchen and bath renovations. As we began work we noticed some major problems in the home and realized this was going to be a full gut job. Tommy got right to work and had his crew working full time on my house. He worked tirelessly to get all the old lathe and player walls demoed, rerun new electrical through the entire home, new plumbing and hvac. With a home this old we had lots of issues and Tommy had a quality solution for everything and helped me stay on budget… which is very important to an investor! The lump of coal we started with was turned into a diamond! Tommy and his crew did an amazing job on my renovation and I will trust him with future projects.

I think a true test of a newly built home is how does it stand up to the test of time. We have been in our Schell home for 9 years and you would think it is still a new home. No nail pops or cracks on the walls. All of the HVAC is humming without any maintenance issues. The tile and wood flooring throughout the house has stood up well even with 5 grandkids and 2 dogs doing their best to rough it up when they frequently visit. The outside siding and trim needed your basic painting which is expected near the coastline but no issues with the products used for trim.

We have built 7 new homes during our lifetime and not one of them held up like our Schell home. I would strongly recommend Schell Brothers and if by chance I do build another home, it would be a Schell home.

As of this writing, the last posted review is 2 years old. So… let me update you on a near million dollar Schell Brothers built home that we built. The model selection and design is a beast of its own where they literally nickel and dime you for everything in a home. Now then, after the build and closing: the house is a Million Dollar Turd!!! After living in the house for a month, what we have discovered is extremely crooked walls, a tile shower that has more caulking in it than the exterior. It was built incorrectly as a well built tile shower should have ZERO caulk in it. Here’s a few other issues we’ve seen: crooked molding, terrible miter joints, mixed match molding cuts, a crooked front door that whistles badly when there’s any wind, light switches that don’t do anything, bent HVAC return vent coverings, a screened in porch that has two sides with a 1/4 inch gap that allows bugs through, a sidewalk poured below grade that pools water after a small rain. We paid extra for painted walls and were told that they would use satin paint, they used flat. The paint was cut in and trimmed so poorly… Stevie Wonder could have done a better job. Windows lacking interior trim, flooring that looks suspiciously like it was not installed properly… I could go on and on with the LOW QUALITY BUILD that Schell Brothers created for us. But I think I’ll just do a 5-10 video and post it on YouTube. Bottom line, STEER CLEAR of these folks. They may have built a good product years ago but now I believe that it’s all about the MONEY!! 💰 I hate this house. Jim Walter’s built a better house!

Review of Our Schell Brothers Home – One Year Later

Our home is now a little over a year old, and unfortunately, the experience with Schell Brothers has been deeply disappointing.

While the buying and selection process was passable—it wasn’t great, but it was relatively smooth—that may have been the only positive part of the entire experience.

Once we moved in, the poor quality of construction quickly became apparent. Here are just a few of the issues we’ve encountered:

Extremely uneven floors – A ball can roll from one side of the house to the other without any push.

Substandard trim work – Sloppy cuts and finishes throughout the home.

Poor carpet installation – Pieces were cut poorly and laid improperly, and we were told these aren’t covered under warranty.

Damaged deck boards – Also not covered under warranty.

Faulty HVAC system – We've had six service visits and it still doesn’t work correctly.

Painting – Large sections were left unpainted or done so poorly it would’ve been better if they hadn’t painted at all.

Bowed trim – Trim pulls away from the drywall in multiple areas.

Unresolved warranty items – Some issues have been pending for almost a year with no resolution.

Dealing with the warranty team has been equally frustrating. Responses are often filled with excuses or temporary fixes rather than actual solutions.

Schell Brothers markets themselves as a premium homebuilder, but the only “premium” aspect we’ve experienced is the price. The quality and service have fallen far short of expectations.

Bottom line: I would strongly advise others to avoid building with Schell Brothers unless you're prepared to deal with serious quality issues and poor customer service.
