Chimney Sweep reviews in Knoxville, Tennessee

After 3 attempts (the first 2 attempts on December 9th and 10th of 2025 were no shows and on the 3rd try (December 11th) he showed up late! within the allotted appointment times, with me having to call to try to contact him or the company) to have Jacob come out for an estimate back on December 11th, we still never received a quote from you guys. This has been a poor experience to say the least. If you can't show up for an estimate on time on 3 tries (3 different days of the week) and then never get a quote to me in 2 months, then how can you gain trust to do business? I will be finding another company that is more professional for our needs. Still haven't heard back as of February 11th, and the quote appt was on December 11th...I was home and available for all appointment times. He was nice enough when he showed up and seemed like he halfway knew what he was talking about but thats it. I'd give zero stars if I could. Attached are screen shots of the text msg I received of the appointment days and original appointment scheduling and the second reschedule, but no other communication has been given.

It turns out they decided to not contact me since they couldn't find a replacement unit to fit the current space. OK sure, the house was built in 1996 along with the rest of my neighborhood and i guess we all have the same problem. I also told the guy id be happy to revert it to a wood burning fireplace or even the possibility of adding a wood burning stove. So no options or quotes for that? 2 months of being ghosted and the reply is laughable. I hope that your future customers dont "fall through the cracks" and waste their time like I did.

TN Chimney called us around 6:00pm the evening before our appointment to let us know the estimate would be $250+. They advertise free estimates on their website. With a winter storm coming, we agreed to the fee. They agreed to discount it to $150 due to them confirming last minute. No one showed up to our appointment time. We called and they sent someone over to tell us our blower was out and he would send us an estimate. That was two weeks ago.

Update: More than 30 days later and still no estimate or inspection report we were charged for.

Waited a week per the comment to our post. The week passed, still nothing.

Not good. Worse install I have ever seen… I trusted them, paid them, and well.. this is what I got. Fireplace brick was installed sloppy and not level. Chimney cap has screws on the top metal portion and is sloped inward. Holds water. Also, has a seen in it and it is the wrong color. Been trying to get them out to fix. First, Matt (supervisor) told me he lost all his good technicians. Now he won’t answer. Called the office several times and left messages. No return call. Was waiting to write the review to give TN Fireplace a chance to fix as they stated they would. But, since I cant get ahold of them, here is the review. I will be pursing other options… TN Chimney - rookie installation company.

They know who I am. They know they botched this install. Josh is the owner and he called me (and played stupid) the same day he wrote the Google response below mine. I added an interesting email conversation that shows (1) that they know who I am and (2) they can’t hold qualified techs within their company. STEER CLEAR of this company!

DO NOT Call these people. We were charged $800 for a cleaning and inspection of two fireplaces. A couple issues were found. Never received an inspection report that was promised. Also I tried contacting the engineer thru the company secretary so I could address the issues that were found. Never received a call back and was promised by the secretary each time he would call the same day. I called at least 7 times. So basically the stole $800.00. I hate liars and thief’s. Special place set aside for them.

We’ve used our fireplace for 11 plus years now and were overdue for some repair work to the outside and inside. After checking around with a few other outfits, it was apparent that this company had the most experience and knowledge for the project.
It was a big expense for us and I now know why after watching the crew work for so long. We’re definitely glad we went with Tn chimney and plan to see them again for our daughters home remodel.

Updated: After posting my review, the company promptly called me and came to remove my old wood stove from my property! The following is my edited review:

The work and workers in the actual project were wonderful. They both stayed until after 7 PM to make sure the job was completed in one day due to some Hurricane Helene supply delays. Our previous stove was a very hefty wood slammer that had stopped working and wasn’t up to code.

Our project required a cleaning of the interior of our chimney due to the previous wood slammer. We had to get a liner installed and get a new cap put on because ours was very cracked and damaged. During really bad storms, there is some rattling but no leaks. New flashing was also installed.

We have been using the stove for almost two months. We got the Buck Stove 81. It does a great job heating the downstairs. If we really pack it and have the fan going, the majority of our upstairs is toasty warm as well.

Would have been five stars if not for the lack of communication after the job was completed.

Due to a scheduling issue, Jacob arrived almost two hours late for the appointment. Once he arrived though, Jacob was friendly and polite, excellent and thorough in his work. He was careful with the equipment to insure the home was protected during the inspection and did a great job of explaining the issues with the fireplace and chimney. It took two days and a few phone calls to receive the written inspection report. Once the report was finally received, it was very detailed with many pictures. Jacob followed up with a phone call to see if there were questions and quickly sent an estimate for the recommended repair work.

I would encourage the office staff to improve their scheduling so that there is adequate drive time between appointments and to be provide support to inspectors in sending reports in a more timely manner.

Do NOT use this business to repair your Fireplace or chimney. They are HORRIBLE. I am a 70 year-old woman, and they took advantage of that. First, the technician came out to my house one hour later than was scheduled. I had to call to see if he was still coming. He was extremely rude. He did not dust out the gas fireplace. He did not clean out the gas lines. He did nothing but take the glass off, lay in the floor, hit the button a few times to try to light it, look at his phone, and then put the glass back on and told me it needed a part. Then charged me well over $300. FOR NOTHING. I told him to order the part and to contact me. Two weeks later, nothing. Long story short…. me and my family called them at least 12 times during the next month. Everyone answering the phone every single time said the same thing.. “ don’t know if the part is ordered, but we will contact the technician and let you know.” They NEVER called me back. I was SCAMMED by this company. Something like that just hits different when you’re older.

Today we had Casey a technician from Ashbusters visit our home in order to troubleshoot a chimney issue that we had. He notified us before he made it to our home via text and he showed up at the time that he said he would. He was very polite and professional and attentive when we explained our issue. He inspected the chimney from inside the attic and outside on the roof. He was able to resolve our issue on the spot. We very much appreciate everything that he did for us. He is a great representative for his company and the reason that we will recommend them to anyone that needs a related repair.As a matter of fact my next door neighbor will be calling the office about some dryer vent issue that he has.

Extremely profession and knowledgeable service technicians. Would definitely recommend there services to anyone need a fireplace inspection or cleaning.

Ashbusters did a great job working on protecting our 100 year old chimneys. Amber was responsive and upfront about scheduling. Casey did a great job of explaining the best approach and providing a thorough explanation of the estimate. He was also realistic about some possible issues that may happen due to the damage already showing at the top of the chimneys. Jonah and his team did a great job on the actual work and were patient in explaining issues when there were problems with the top layers of brick. I've dealt with a number of sub contractors, and it's always nice to deal with transparent and fair companies.

Jonathan was polite and knowledgeable and had the fireplace back in operation in just a few minutes. He answered all my questions about operating the fireplace.

From the initial inspection by Casey to the final chimney rebuild by Jonah's crew, I am impressed with the quality of work and professionalism. I would highly recommend this company.

Jonah was very helpful in educating us on our issues and concerns regarding the fireplaces and our furnace.

We were extremely pleased with the workmanship and all the personnel we worked with at Ashbusters Knoxville. From Casey who performed the initial inspection and provided the quotation, to Amber who addressed scheduling issues, to Ian and Nick who did all the masonry work. The personnel were professional and friendly. The quality of the workmanship was exceptional! They took care to protect the house and plants. They are very dependable and trustworthy. Their attention to the details of their high quality work was noteworthy. And they thoroughly cleaned up when they were done. We recommend Ashbusters of Knoxville highly..

Ashbusters did an outstanding job! Their attention to detail was impressive. Casey’s and Ian’s communication throughout the process was top-notch. Bob was great! Thorough, clear explanations of how my vent-free gas logs worked and how he checked, cleaned, adjusted system. No more "gas-stove" smell!

Jonah was very professional and knowledgeable and diagnosed my issue very quickly and effectively. I would recommend Jonah to anyone that has a gas fireplace issue.

Anthony and Nik were great ! Got here the time they said they would !!!!! Very professional but also approachable if we had questions. Also cleaned up after themselves before they left Everything they either fixed or added to our house if we couldn’t see it, they showed us pictures. And they got done so much quicker than I thought it would be take. I would highly recommend them

After posting my review Ashbusters reached out to me and refunded my service cost. Ferdinand responded quickly and reported faulty equipment as the problem. I would use them again.

Ferdinand came out to my house to inspect my chimney and clean. When he arrived, I asked if I needed to cover any of my furniture because there would be ash and he said no it would be fine. After leaving. I noticed there was ash everywhere even on my kitchen countertops. I expected that there would be and I wish he had just said there would be because I have drop cloths that I could have placed over the two chairs that sit very close to my fireplace, one of which is a cream colored chair. My basket of throws were right next to the fireplace. I could’ve easily moved those out of the room.

So, if you use Ashbusters, I think they do a good job, but I siggedt covering any furniture next to the fireplace and moving out pillows and throws.

Professional, courteous, knowledgeable service with the bonus of liking basset hounds! Tim did a great job cleaning and inspecting our chimney (Broadacreas subdivision in Powell), showed us the potential problem areas, and gave us a quote for the recommended repairs that we could live with. Looking forward to having the work completed and continuing to be a customer of Ashbusters in Knoxville.

Update: Timmy and his apprentice, (Zach?) came as scheduled and did the repairs (including heat shield and new cap). They worked tirelessly until dusk (before DST ended!) and left us with a clean, safe chimney. I waited to post this update not because I had any hesitation about reaffirming my high recommendation, but because I wanted to include a "first fire" picture! We will definitely schedule for Timmy to come do our annual cleanings in the future.

Second update: Timmy did our annual inspection June 1, and noticed a rather large "step crack" above our front door that we had totally missed when we bought the house 2 years ago. He came back July 9 to do the mortar repairs (there were also cracks some around the chimney) and install a new damper. As always, he was courteous, prompt, and efficient! Still gets a 5-star rating from us!
