I had bragged on Davey for some tree removal and rightly so. Everything went very well. People have always been kind. But I also had also planned treatments to help some new trees I had planted. They came out and sprayed some fertilizer on the ground and said they would be back in 2 weeks to inject something into the ground. The papers I was given that day said ”select trees treated with humates in preparation for fertilization in a couple of weeks” and the person told me the same thing that day. No one ever called back so I contacted Davey and was told that I was told wrong and nothing else would be done until the spring. I will trust them that was correct and that I was told wrong, but $240 to come out for a few minutes to spray some fertilizer on the ground is outrageous in my opinion with another $240 due in the spring.

This is an edit to my prior above review where I had questioned whether all the services I was charged for were completed in fertilizing trees recently planted. Stephen from Davey came out and spoke with me about my concerns/review. In the end, he made things right by me so I am updating my rating. It is obvious to me from speaking with Stephen, that Davey does care about taking care of their customers which is refreshing.

This is an updated review as of May 16th, 2024. Stephen with Davey came out to the house today and fixed the problem. We talked about the problem and we both could have been better with communication. The work is completed and I was assured if there is any other problem with the work, it would be fixed. I really think it's good now.
I changed my 2 stars to 5 stars now.

THIS WAS THE FIRST REVIEW
The only reason they got 2 stars is because they were hired by my insurance company and Davey came out fast to remove 2 trees that had fallen but I guess at $8500.00 I'd move fast too. The problem is they left massive ruts in my yard and almost 10 months later, I can't get a phone call or my yard fixed. If you hire them or your insurance company recommends them, check your yard before they are paid. I didn't have that option since it was insurance and the company that hired them, could care less. I truly hope this review helps with someone's decision before you are out of a lot of money or your yard is trashed.

COTY'S CREW: From Stephen McLaren's original walk-through and suggestions to when Coty's Crew came on the scene, THE DAVEY TREE EXPERT COMPANY was totally knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Not only did everyone know what they were doing, the entire team appeared to be enjoying working together. I was very impressed from our first meeting to the time the Davey trucks were pulling away. I also feel that you were reasonably priced, and will be highly recommending DAVEY to my friends. Again, thank you for a job well done!

Stephen came out to our home for a consultation regarding some tree pruning. He gave us so much useful information regarding our trees and bushes including care and damage control from our mowers and last year’s cold weather.
Stephen was completely focused on our concerns and we never felt rushed to finish with our questions. It was such a pleasure meeting with him!
He is a great representative for Davey Tree and we will certainly call on him in the future!

Coty's crew done an excellent job,very polite and professional and met all my expectations of a very picky customer.
Left my yard cleaner that it was when they arrived.
Highly recommend this company for any tree removal.
Their supervisor Stephen was excellent to work with as well, on-time and very fair pricing with no hidden costs or surprises.

A team of 4 cut down and removed a huge Tulip Poplar in our back yard. Cody and Salvadors crew removed the tree without incident by showing great teamwork and a high level of safety awareness and precautions. The team surveyed the tree and area and created a gameplan, this took the first 30 minutes and then they got to work. Cody was in the bucket and Salvador was working / running the ground crew. The whole operation was impressive to say the least. Communications between Cody and the ground was constant, when time came for a drop everyone was aware and verified by each other. The controlled drops were well coordinated and thought through without incident (neighbors fence located 8 feet from tree was never touched!). They protected the yard with plywood and there was minimal damage except where the drops occurred, mostly due to the skid steer moving in to remove dropped limbs, definitely not complaining about that after watching everything involved. The other 2 workers stayed busy removing brush and feeding the chipper, both were hustlers and contributed greatly to the safe operation. Debris trucks arrived on time for replacement. The area was thoroughly raked and blown for final cleanup. The stump will be grinded to below surface after the utilities come out to identify their lines (this is also coordinated by Davey). No complaints from this customer, we truly appreciated the job that was performed and these skilled workers that got it done.

I was extremely pleased with the work Davey did. They showed up on time. They went above and beyond to make sure the tree trimming and removal was done properly and with little damage to the surrounding trees and house. I couldn't be happier.

Just had Salvador's crew and Coty out for the second time to do some additional tree trimming, tree removal, and stump grinding. Just like before, they were on time and did a great job. Even though they had big trucks, there was minimal damage to the yard and they cleaned everything up. The stump grinding really made the yard look much better. I give Davey my highest recommendation. You won't be disappointed.

Coty & Christian were beyond fantastic. Their work ethic showed that they care about the customer. All work was done as stated on the estimate and there was excellent communication before and during the job. Property was left in great condition.

I would highly recommend Davey.

Cody and Salvador's crew did an excellent job by removing a huge oak tree at my home. It was 125 feet in height. They were precise and very organized. Professional in all aspects. I'd highly recommend their services!

We reached out to the Davey Tree Expert Company and Rob Kraker the Arborist came out and inspected our property. He was very informative about our trees on the farm and he sent us a quote for work we wanted completed.

Then Davey sent Coty's Crew out to complete the work. Coty's Crew was excellent!!! They arrived at 8am and completed the removal of 7 large dangerous trees by 12pm. They did this with the efficiency only true professionals can provide. They not only cut these trees down safely but they completely shredded them into wood chips during the whole process.

I have rarely seen a crew that worked this well together. They are highly professional and ultra efficient in execution of the plan. Excellent bang for the buck!

I can recommend them to anyone who needs trees removed no matter where they are in the forest or next to their house.

My 85 year-old mother was wanting to have some tree limbs cut because of her fear that some would come down on her house or power lines during a storm. I found The Davey Tree Expert Company through a Google search. Reps from the company came out and discussed the work she wanted done and gave her an estimate, which my mother thought was reasonable. During that visit the reps told her that limbs on the 60 year old oak tree in the front yard didn't need to be cut off; they could "cable it" to prevent large upper branches of it from falling during a storm. Somewhat skeptical, my mother agreed to let them do that, along with cutting some large limbs off of other trees in the yard. On the day the work was done, my mother called me and she was "singing their praises"! Her comments included, "They really know their business! They didn't leave a mess in the yard! They saved the oak tree!" "I'd recommend them to anyone!" "The workers were very polite and professional!" "I will definitely use them again if needed."
I want to thank The Davey Tree Expert Company for making my mother a happy customer! Also, thank them for saving the oak tree, which my brothers, sister and I stood beside at the start of each new school year while mom made our picture!

Coty's crew removed about 15 trees that were damaged or of poor quality. They did this within 10 feet of an aluminum fence, never once causing damage. There was some distance to haul all the trunks and branches to their trucks for disposal, so they laid down protection in the yard. When they left there was no sign of the mess! These guys are very skilled and strategic in removing large trees. I will definitely call Davey again!

Job well done. On time, large crew removed a dead tree between our house and the neighbor's. No damage to power , phone, or cable/internet lines. Great cleanup. Highly recommended.

Davey Tree Service recently removed 5 tall trees close to our house and did an excellent job. Cody and his crew were very respectful to our yard and did a good job on clean up. I definitely would recommend them and plan to use them in the future.

Five stars are really too few to reflect how great a job the Davey Tree crew did. Things in our yard were very overgrown at the start of spring. We always call Davey Tree for tree and large shrub pruning and removal and it was clear that we needed their services again. Our arborist, Stephen came to see what could be done and was an enormous help. After a tour around the yard and detailed discussion, he was able to suggest a clear plan to deal with the problem areas we had identified and to give us specifics on how many people, how much time and what equipment would be needed. We received the proposal, accepted it, were scheduled and confirmed in quick succession. The crew of three arrived, as scheduled, and with all of the necessary equipment. After a brief walk around, they began in the front of the house and the sound of the chipper continued intermittently throughout the day. As they moved to each area, we reviewed any particulars. As they finished each area , we were amazed at the improvement that they had made in its appearance . They were very conscientious and even preserved, pending verification, some small shrubs that we had forgotten to mention. They managed to finish and be ready to depart on schedule. It was a difficult job and they did it well. We could not be more pleased.

Rob (an ISA Certified Arborist) visited us last week to provide an assessment of our trees. He is very knowledgeable and left us with a great impression - that he cares about our trees and wasn’t recommending work that didn’t need to be done.

This is our second time using Davey for service and they never cease to amaze me. Salvador and team were professional and polite as well. They brought the right equipment to get the job done quickly and without making a mess. Their precise cuts and teamwork ensured the trees came down without damaging any surrounding vegetation.

These guys are the professionals! We are extremely satisfied and will not hesitate to call them whenever we need tree service. Thanks again Davey. We appreciate you!

What an excellent company! I had a tricky tree to take down near a pool, and they were so careful. I don’t think anything even got in the pool … not a branch or leaf. I watched them gently lower branches when something potentially damageable was below, and lift large branches to clear bushes when cleaning up. Clean up was thorough. We have a lot with 25 or so trees and I have hired other companies in the past, but none better. Our arborist, Stephen, was detailed, and his men knew exactly what to do. Our yard looks great. Everyone was so professional. As I said, what an excellent company!

A great group of people at every point of contact. I wish they had been my first call after all the run around I received from others that were referred to me. They came out even through there was a storm powering towards our area, knocked out a day's worth of work in what seemed half a day, and beat the storm!

I hired Davey (Murfreesboro TN location) to take down two tall dead trees in our back yard. Jason Gunnell came out to assess and provide a quote and within a few days a full crew showed up with all the proper equipment. I have anywhere from patio pavers to vinyl fences to firepits and lots of patio lighting - all connected to or close to the two dead trees. Davey meticulously took them down without damaging or disturbing anything nearby. When they left it was if they were never there…just two trees now gone. No branches or debris anywhere - and the stumps perfectly ground as well. They even went the extra mile to take down a couple dead branches off another tree! Jason called shortly to follow up and make sure we were satisfied. Fantastic service and high quality work…10/10 will hire them again!
