I can't say enough good thing about these guys. The service, the quality of the job and the way they work with you and your budget is exactly what I'm looking for in a contractor. They just installed a new sprinkler system and they did an absolutely fantastic job! They came to my house after the installation to make sure I was satisfied and understood how the system works. He gave me a lot of tips on how to save money on my water bill and yet keep a healthy lawn!
They absolutely have my business! No way I will try other any landscape! Give them a try, you will not be disappointed! -
I’ve used NXNW for the past couple of years and they have shown to be very knowledgeable in their field. Just like any vendor, they are not perfect but they do own up to their errors and make things right. They work with their customers and keep an open communication with all parties.

I have worked with NXNW several times over the last year on various commercial and multi family projects. In my experience, they are one of the top landscapers in the state. They are reliable, knowledgeable, and solution focused. Would highly recommend.

As an Association Manager, I’ve worked with many landscapers, and North by Northwest is one of the best. They’re reliable, professional, and keep my communities looking great year-round. Their team is easy to work with, quick to respond, and always go the extra mile. Residents have noticed the difference, and we’ve received lots of positive feedback. I highly recommend them to any HOA or property manager looking for top-quality service.

I have had a decent experience working with folks here. They have shown up on time and taken care of my requests and have been professional.

Sergio is amazing! Always has great customer service and excellent communication, fast to jump in and help with any issues that arise.

While it IS very local, it's not anything special.

I’ve recorded my interaction with North that I have attached to this review.
My HOA contracted this company to maintain the grounds of our property, and I don’t usually care all that much about who comes out to cut our grass, but ever since we started using North, our property has started looking horrible. Trash everywhere, torched lawns, the whole place is now a dirt pit.
During the freeze this year (2026), an irrigation pipe burst in my yard that resulted in water gushing from underground and that obliterated my yard. We called North for 3 days straight to have them come fix it, trying to explain the urgency of the situation, but they didn’t take it seriously and came on the 4th day (photos of damage included).
When a guy finally did come out to fix it, he dug a 3’x5’x1’ hole smack dab in the middle of my front yard. As he was digging, he was literally just throwing all of the dirt, rocks and debris all over my yard. It makes absolutely zero sense that rocks and rubbish wound up almost 5 feet away from where he was digging. And when the guy got done for the day, all he did was brush some dirt over the hole he dug- he didn’t level it, he didn’t clean up after himself, he left dirt and rocks literally all over the place (photos and videos of the mess he left included).
That’s how my yard sat for almost 3 weeks until he and North finally came back to our property. When I approached the guy to talk to him about why he would leave the yard of my home looking that way, I gave him every opportunity to tell me that somebody else instructed him to leave the mess he left in my yard. He didn’t take it. And so instead, it was just him giving me excuses as to why it was left in disarray (video of my interaction with him included).
This happened in late January/early February and they still have not come to fix this. In the video of my interaction with him, you can hear him say that it’s bad and offer to “brush some dirt over it,” when it was very clear that was not going to fix the problem he created.
I was so appalled by this. Listen to the video. I kept trying to give him some sort of credit. The guy hasn’t been back to our property since mid-February, and he’s supposed to be the guy who project manages their workers.
This is one of those “not my yard, not my problem” companies. An “I’m only doing what’s in the job description” company.
They never bend down and pick up trash, they just use their leaf blowers to blow it all around the property. They scalp the yards to the point where close to 95% of our homes don’t have any grass. We are paying this company to effectively destroy our entire property and wave around weed eaters for a few hours every single week.
My home was appraised ~6-7% lower as a result of what this company has done to our property.
Well I tried uploading the videos, but I can only include photos. -

Not only is this company unreliable (after canceling an appointment they didn't show up for follow up appointment) they do not stand behind their work.

Couldn't get past the receptionist who refused to give me an estimate without having an irrigation system and commiting to an annual maintenance contract. Just needed a quality lawn service and quote on installing an irrigation system. Not a great first impression.

one of your employees was not wearing a mask in a Wendy's
It's not a great look in a health conscious place like Austin.
If he did it on his own time it wouldn't be as bad, but the fact that he was driving one of your branded trucks means he's advertising your services and damaging your brand. -
These are some of the worst landscapers I've ever seen. Rake a pile of leaves and not pick it up for months or just have a lawn mower run it over instead of doing their job. I often see the workers sitting around playing on their phones. Poor quality work across the board.

The provider was great when we first entered into the commercial landscaping agreement. After about 30 days it went down hill. Weeds everywhere, only 2 hours allotted for service on a 6 acer property. Much of the property was left undone at the end of each service leaving our property looking unkept through the leasing season and the rest of our time as their customer. Their agreement states that if it rains on your service day they will not come back that week but work in time at other visits to make up for it. LOOK OUT FOR THAT. They also decided the back fence of our property is no longer part of the contract even though they had cut it in the past. It took 5 months to get them to cut this over growth. In addition to the landscaping service we received from them being subpar and inconsistent our account rep, crew leaders, and service date changed multiple times.

While setting up the appointment was easy with Rose being very responsive, there was a serious breakdown in communication today(3/3/2020) as I waited for someone to come give an estimate. I waited 2 hours and had 3 different phone conversations. The first time I called, I was assured that someone would be on their way and that they had left at 10:05 AM (the appointment was from 10-11. Seeing as they were coming from north Austin, and I live in south Austin, I was ok with that, though worried about how much time I was taking off from work to make this appointment. At 11:05 I called again and was told that they would now call to check in on the worker. I wish they would have called earlier, but still, I'm understanding and willing to wait a little longer. I get a call back 10 minutes later saying that the person coming to get an estimate was called into a commercial project and would not be making the appointment today.
All of this could have been cleared up with a simple phone call at 10:30, I could have made it back to work and rescheduled. Things happen. Just frustrating that the call wasn't made to check in sooner rather than wasting a potential customer's time.
I understand they get most of their business from commercial projects, but until they can figure out a way to make sure communication doesn't break down, and that they actually have the staff to do residential project assessment, they shouldn't take on any requests for residential projects. -
If I could give negative stars I would. These people are extremely incompetent and continue to kill everything they touch and do hundreds of dollars of damage to my landscaping, thousands of dollars around the nieghborhood. Unfortunately, I have to deal with them because my HOA hired them, but they are some of the most clueless incompetent landscapers I have ever witnessed. I had to put up signs all over the garden that say "Please do not prune or spray" and every time they come they completely ignore it and I have to yell at them while they are spraying the sign that says "do not spray" and inevitably they kill tons of things every time. Yesterday, they thought they were weeding but in reality pulled out 30-40 of my flowers that were growing, including a peony that was literally sitting below the sign that says do not prune. After talking to them multiple times and putting up signage, there seems to be nothing you can do to keep them from killing everything they see. Do not hire these people, they will destroy everything and are beyond incompetent.

I have been a customer of North by Northwest since August 2007. They used to be quite good and I was satisfied. In the past year, their service has deteriorated to the point that I am now searching for a new lawn care service. They are undependable and I never know when they will show up. More and more Tiffany sends out emails saying "crews are running behind because of .... (rain delays, cutting back winter die-back, leaf raking, etc.). The problem is when you miss your scheduled day, they don't seem to show up to ever make up your day and you have to wait for the next round. I'm on a maintenance contract so I am billed monthly whether I get the service or not. This past month my husband and I have spent countless hours in the yard, raking, trimming, and weeding on our own. It's infuriating. I just paid my bill for the past month and it made me furious that I am doing so much of the work myself. My husband called North by NW to see when they are coming (they were last here on February 15). We were told they will come Friday, March18th. Well, it's supposed to rain on Friday so I guess we will be missing our service once again!!!

Working with NXNW has been a series of follies. Aside from the sloppy landscape work they did, I had also signed up for a lawn maintenance plan hoping they would rid my yard of weeds. Instead of making my lawn look nice, they sent out some inexperienced hack who literally ruined more than half of my yard with the wrong chemical mixture. This hack they sent out also managed to spray the chemicals on my pavers and side wall of my house which left lovely blue stains for weeks. Thanks for that NXNW. Fast forward to today, I have a dead patchy lawn and was forced to hire a new company to fix their mess costing me significantly more money than I wanted to spend on lawn care. Of course they wanted to fix the problems they created but after 3 weeks of no follow up from the owner I decided to part ways with them. Working with NXNW has been a nightmare. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
