I had a great overall experience with On Point Air Conditioning and Appliance starting with the initial phone call with Jennifer, who was very friendly and helpful, and kept me updated with my appointment and timing of arrival of the technician, and especially with Juan, their lead technician.

About 3½ years ago, my older Kenmore refrigerator had a condenser failure and I had it repaired through American Home Shield. The technician they sent, Adan with AB Appliance Repair, replaced the condenser, which got the fridge working again, but as I later learned, he did not replace the filter-drier at the same time — which should always be done whenever the sealed system is opened.

Recently, the fridge suddenly stopped cooling again. Since Adan had worked on it before, I called him directly (not through the home warranty this time, which I did not renew). He came out but was unable to diagnose the problem. He mentioned it might be a refrigerant leak but did not have the proper equipment to actually test for it. He couldn’t figure out what was wrong and ended up proposing a “replace everything” approach — condenser, evaporator, etc. — with about $1,600 total cost, nearly $1,000 of that being labor, and even stated it might not fix the issue. He charged $120 for the assessment visit without subtracting that initial expense from the follow-up repair proposal.

At that point I got a referral to this company from a trusted AC technician I use, Isaac with All About You A/C, and Juan came out the same day.

Completely different level of expertise and service.
They only charge you $75 for the initial visit and if you need to do a repair, they subtract that $75 off your subsequent repair bill. Jennifer clearly outlined this over the initial phone call so there were no surprises.

Juan ran proper pressure tests and initially considered whether there might be a refrigerant leak, but he had the correct equipment to verify that there wasn’t one. He then unplugged the refrigerator and observed how the pressures stabilized, which told him the system was fully charged. From there, he continued troubleshooting and noticed that the small line coming out of the filter-drier was cold when it should not have been — a clear sign of a restriction.
He immediately identified the real issue: a clogged filter-drier.
He also pointed out that the filter was still the original factory unit (you could see the factory crimp), confirming that it had never been replaced when the condenser was changed 3½ years ago. In other words, the previous repair was incomplete and ended up causing this failure.

Juan had the part right on his truck, replaced the filter-drier on the spot, added the appropriate refrigerant after opening the system, and the refrigerator was fully working again the same day.

Total cost was under $500.

No guessing, no unnecessary parts, no delays waiting days for components, and no “maybe this will fix it” — just correct diagnosis and proper repair.

He also helped clean the heavily dust-covered condenser coils (we have multiple dogs, so they were coated) using a blower and vacuum setup, and installed a new 5 year inline water filter (that I had just ordered and received from Lowe"s the day before) without adding extra charges.

I also gave Juan a tip for going above and beyond — not something you’re required to do, but in this case it felt well deserved given the level of service, honesty, and the fact that he took care of everything the same day.

Juan clearly knows what he’s doing and takes the time to diagnose problems correctly instead of throwing parts at them. I’ll absolutely be using On Point going forward and recommending them to others.
