This review is on behalf of my father, Terry Taylor, in Houston, who does not have a Google account but was extremely satisfied with this company's services and wanted to make sure his experience was made public.

When the last few years of drought conditions in Houston created some major issues with our home, I visited with neighbors in our area who I knew had remodeling and general home maintenance projects done on their homes recently. Contender Construction got consistent reviews for quality of work and value for money spent.

Contender Construction owner, Stephen Box, met with my wife and me and spent almost two hours listening and asking questions about our goals which included replacing damaged cedar siding and repainting our unattached garage, removing and replacing a sidewalk from the street to the front of the house and removing and replacing the concrete patio and attached sidewalks at the rear of the house. We also chose to replace the front door unit of our home. Over the next couple of days, Stephen sent options to consider for each part of the project. At the end, he sent us a proposal that included all the elements we chose with relevant pictures and prices that included parts and labor.

Contender’s specialty sub-contractors on our renovation were all complete professionals. Every phase of the project was done well using top quality materials. The front door unit was installed and sealed carefully, and both sides of the door got multiple coats of paint.

As with most projects on sixty-year-old dwellings, modifications to original bids must be expected because of unanticipated challenges that appear. Stephen wisely warned us of this prior to making the original bid. Our modifications were minor and very reasonably priced. It is worth noting that the front-door unit we ordered ended up costing less than originally quoted, and Stephen credited us for the difference on our final bill! We wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. Personal integrity counts.
