After researching several landscape companies, I ultimately chose McDugald-Steele, and working with Adam was one of the best decisions I made for my home.

I originally reached out because my backyard had a serious drainage issue. Every time it rained, the yard became a mud pit, and no one seemed able to come up with a real solution. At the same time, I wanted to create more privacy and design a backyard that felt beautiful while still being low maintenance.

For the front yard, my vision was something inspired by a French or English garden — elegant, organic, layered, and timeless. Adam immediately understood exactly what I was trying to achieve. He created thoughtful plans, listened carefully, and never pressured me to move forward before I was ready.

In fact, I waited close to a year before doing the front landscaping, and later completed the backyard as a separate phase. Adam was patient throughout the entire process and always made himself available whenever I had questions.

The results exceeded my expectations. The front landscaping completely transformed the home and has that refined, romantic look I wanted without feeling overly formal. The backyard drainage system was even more impressive. They solved a problem that multiple people struggled to figure out, and now the yard drains perfectly with no standing water at all, even during heavy rain.

The privacy tree line they suggested has filled in beautifully and completely changed the feeling of the space. Looking outside now feels calm, private, and polished.

What also stood out to me was how well McDugald-Steele coordinated with the irrigation company throughout the project. Everything felt organized and thoughtfully executed from beginning to end.

They are a premium company, and the level of work and care they provide fully reflects that. Even after the projects were completed, Adam has continued to be responsive and helpful anytime I’ve needed something.

I've worked with McDugald-Steele (specifically, BJ, who managed my project and Tracy, who designed my project) for over three years. They designed and executed my entire backyard remodel--complete with a pergola, outdoor fireplace and synthetic grass in my daughter's play space. They're extremely detail-oriented in their planning, creative in their design and efficient in their execution and planting. As a side note, I began this project with two other landscape designers but had to abandon working with them because I wasn't confident they could tackle the scope of my project in a timely and cost-effective manner. McDugald-Steele also performs my maintenance; they require no micro-management in maintaining my landscape design, which hasn't been my experience in the past with other companies.

My experience is based on a phone call to them. I called and asked if they do a service and mid sentence without saying a word the receptionist transfers me. Then a man answers and says he isn't interested in my job because I am outside the loop. I can't speak to their actual work but the two persons I interacted with had terrible customer service.

The McDugald team is amazing. They have been creating beautiful landscaping for our home for over a decade and s as Keats have fresh creative plans. A pleasure to work with and look forward to every visit .

I have a small garden area outside of my apartment that had to be totally redone after some major work disrupted our entire garden area. Our landscape architect, Adam, was very knowledgeable and conscientious as well as personable and easy to work with. I could see from the beginning that he could offer us some new fresh ideas that would give the garden a new look. I trusted him completely which turned out to be the wisest choice I could have made. The people doing the work all wore crisp starched uniforms and looked very professional. They were quick precise and neat. After living in Houston for 53 years, I am sure I have not worked with such a trustworthy and pleasant group of landscapers ever! Thank you all.
