I was extremely happy with Mr. Handyman and my assigned technician Kendall. Kendall showed up promptly for the estimate and was very polite and professional (service with a smile just how I like it). I received the quote later that day and I quickly made the decision to go forward with the work.

I promptly scheduled the work and we had to reschedule due to rain and they all were very polite and accommodating as we rescheduled.

Kendall again was prompt, professional, and courteous when he got here for the job, which was replacing the rotted out base of a support column on my backyard covered patio and putting in two flag holders into the brick above my garage door.

I was very happy with the work done and want to thank Kendall and Mr. Handyman for a job well done. I will definitely be calling them again for future projects. Thank You!!

I had a last minute need and started my inquiry online, got a call literally mins after and explained what I needed and had an appointment within the day. Be cautious when hiring this company (workers Troy, Kendall, and owner Nelson).

Damaged our brand new flooring with PVC primer spill and multiple failed attempts at an easy PVC plumbing repair.

We hired them to correct an improperly sealed kitchen sink drain tee that was allowing sewer odors into our home because it was not secured to the venting pipe above. A dishwasher reinstall and securing two outlets were also part of original quote but not addressed.

Troy arrived promptly and began the work. Near the end of the visit, an entire bottle of PVC primer was spilled onto our new vinyl flooring in the center of our kitchen. He left with a flooring sample to consult with Nestor, the owner, regarding a potential replacement match. At that time, we also observed leakage on the “finished” piping, and a previously functioning dishwasher supply valve and hose connection had been disturbed and left actively leaking without being shut off or secured.

Troy later returned with Nestor, apologized, and stated they would stand behind their work and open an insurance claim if necessary.

That night, my wife and I spent approximately four hours carefully removing primer from the affected flooring to mitigate staining and avoid replacing vinyl planks that extend beneath our cabinets. While we reduced the visible discoloration, the flooring surface was altered.

The following morning, I observed continued leakage. The office sent Kendall to address the issue. After he left, I inspected the work. The drain tee was disconnected from both the vent and drainage sides. The original issue involved only the venting side and did not include active water leakage. After their repair attempt, both sides were disconnected, resulting in active leakage and preventing use of our sink and dishwasher.

The installed tee and associated piping could be removed by hand without tools. I inspected and documented that certain couplings showed no evidence of primer or solvent cement bonding on the mating surfaces, and Troy had tried to re-use pipe and fittings that should have been discarded.

We communicated these findings to the team and to the owner. In response, the company disputed our account of the events and stated that our description of the installation condition was inaccurate. After initially indicating they would stand behind their work, the company declined to open a General Liability claim, refunded our deposit, and stated the matter was closed from their perspective.

The repair itself should have been straightforward from the beginning. All piping installed by Mr Handyman was completely scrapped after their refusal to fix, and plumbing reworked to code in 1-2h.

We are sharing our documented experience so others can make an informed decision.

If Handyman of Katy chooses to respond publicly, we request that the response confirm that a claim has been opened with their General Liability insurance carrier so the matter can be addressed through the appropriate channel.
