I have used Texas Elite Electrical Services for multiple projects at multiple residences over the past 5 years. I've had a panel change at one house and several troubleshooting items over another 3 residences where James and his employees were quick to respond, fix the issue / complete the panel change. The work was professional, and the employees were overall politer and more courteous than most other trades contractors I have come in contact with. I'd like to address the negative reviews I see here and provide some insight. I am a chief inspector holding multiple certifications and although I do not currently work directly in an electrical field, I do have experience in that trade and the workings therein. I see that the Sheila Zacharias mentioned that “the work was good except for one thing” and then makes mention of the “one thing” being “wire tampering” or not getting a “temporary pull”. Then, in a later review, mentions there now being “bad wire in a conduit” that kept tripping the breaker. I want every person reading this to see through this right here and now. If the work was good to begin with, meaning everything was working, turned on, and functioning, then something would have had to have been done to create the problem referenced in the second review, which is called a “short” by the way. A short in the circuit does not create itself without outside influence and would immediately be noticed upon turning power on to the facility in question otherwise mentioned as a “bad wire in conduit” in the review. Physics don’t lie. People do. Especially when they are upset about incurring a $500 charge. Let’s speak on that momentarily. First, let us address the fact that there is no validity to the terminology “wire tampering” or “temporary pull”. Call the power company on this. What she is trying to reference is called “meter tampering” and “temporary pole”. A “temporary pole” is used when there is NO POWER to the property and the contractor is in need of power to complete the job. Temporary poles are common in new construction but not necessary if there is currently power at the facility. In reference to “meter tampering”, please also call your power company on this. This is the charge you receive when you continue using a meter, upon purchasing property or moving into a rental property, without having the account switched into your name. It happens to be a $500 charge as well… That being said, I find it difficult to believe power had been moved into your name for 2 years prior to the contracted work being performed and somehow a contractor that came in, not following the proper protocol, was able to cancel your account at the power company. No contractor can have the city cancel your existing utility ACCOUNT. That sounds absurd to even indicate happened. If you didn’t have an account when he was done with the work, then you didn’t have one when he started and that is NOT his responsibility. How could he start OR stop a utility account in someone else’s name? In the second review, I assume “turning the power out” means turning it off, otherwise indicated as a disconnect, and there is no charge I’ve ever incurred for that…just my experience. I also find it funny that Sheila mentions the city of Dayton and the power company’s alleged statement of “not following protocol”. Seems like those 2 entities wouldn’t use someone that didn’t follow proper protocol, warranty his work, or perform sub-par work, yet, Texas Elite Electrical Services is constantly contracted to the city of Dayton for electrical work at many of their facilities and has to deal with the same power company for any work in the area. I’ve met James to pay him for jobs while he was completing work at these facilities, I’m not just taking someone else’s word for it. I hope this provided insight. Reviews like this, by people like this, are the most difficult part of running a local business and contribute to the reason you end up paying sky high prices from major players driving from 50 miles out to do a small amount of work.

I needed a new electrical pole installed and James (the owner) was very responsive and answered all of our questions and concerns. They were very professional and did a great job. I would highly recommend this business to anyone that is looking for a trustworthy company.

A large sweet gum limb fell at 5:30am and ripped my power line off my house. I called the city to report the problem, Texas Elite had someone at my house within 30 minutes to assess the issue. The employee then had about 4 guys come out to help remove the tree limb and restored my power in a very timely manner.

I have personally known Texas Elite Electrical to lend a helping hand where families have been down on their luck....you don't find people or companies like that nowadays. James takes pride in his work and cares. Thank you Texas Elite Electrical for always doing such a great job! Your hard work is truly appreciated!

I have worked with Elite for years. James has always been fair and reasonable. I have hired him to straighten out things my builder could not figure out after construction. I will definitely continue to employ his services.

I called to have an electric meter and header put in. We made the appointment and no one showed up. I called the next day as I was sure they were busy. They came out that afternoon and gave me a possible bid of $2500 which seemed high ... but I agreed. I have yet to hear back from them. As that was a month ago. I suppose it wasn’t enough money for the job to give me at least the professional courtesy of we are interested in doing the job for you or a call to say I’m sorry we missed you. So, I. The future they won’t get my business. I guess they have to much business that the small jobs aren’t important to them!

These guys are top notch! We were in a bad spot with our breaker box. They got on the job around 8 in the morning and worked nonstop in the summer heat to get a new breaker box installed. They also fixed two outlets free of charge for us! I will definitely use them again and I highly recommend them to anyone that needs electrical work. You won't be disappointed. The price was good, service was great and they answered all questions I had! Happy Customer!!!

Response to Elite Electrical regarding their response to our review:

We where charged the tampering fee from the electric company, and it had nothing to do with a name or account change at all, that was done way before you all did the job, the account had been in our name for two years prior to y'all doing any work.. This was regarding the power being turned off while y'all did the work, y'all was suppose to get a temporary pull to have the power turned out and y'all never did that, the city said that was the contractors responsibility since you pulled the permit. And if we were suppose to get a temporary pull why you say you were calling the light company to get it, we would have gladly done what was needed if it was our responsibility to do, but you said you were gonna do it, when I asked you after this happened you said you didn't call the light company you just turned power off yourself without doing that. There was no fault on our behalf for what had happened. And if y'all wanted to see a satisfied customer it would have been nice to have gotten a call back from y'all, but as normal you never answer your phone.

Another bad experience with James Crouthers, he will not return our call again. We left him a voice mail to see if the work he done for us is under warranty and no call back. Looks like we will have to call another contractor to fix a bad wire in conduit in the wall of our building that keeps tripping the breaker. In our experience he was good until after we paid him, looks like no good customer service for us after the job completed. Once again this is our experience with him and we will never recommend or give him another job with us ever again.

James Crouthers did some work on a commercial building for us, his work was good except for something he did. He bypassed the electrical company and tampered with the power and shut it off himself and turned it back on without getting a temporary pull. Well low and behold as time went on we found out we no longer had a active account with the power company. The city of Dayton and the Power company acknowledges that he did not do the proper protocol, but since we are the building owners regardless we had a pay a $500.00 electrical wire tampering fee for a mistake/shortcut that he made. I don't feel that it was right, he bid the job from beginning to end we paid him the contract amount, he made the mistake, but in the end we had to pay for something that was not our fault. My husband asked him to pay for the tampering fee and he refused, he asked again for at least half as my husband was trying to be generous enough to split the difference with him and he still refused. We will never use him again because we are dissatisfied with how James handled the situation. He wouldn't never answered our calls back and only wanted to text most the time and he was slow to respond. I feel any reputable good company would take care of their customers especially for the mistakes they made, in our case this did not happen. I am not slandering him in anyway, this is America I have a right to tell others about the experience we had with him, we will not be using him again in the future or recommending him in anyway.

James and Brandon were at my house for two days. They seem like smart, skilled electricians. They chased out several problems I wasn’t even aware of, and switched out several fixtures in my older house. I appreciate how they patiently explained things to me. The estimate that I received was for a flat fee to add a breaker for a hot water heater, and then an hourly fee for everything else. I’m posting this review because, based on what another reviewer said, there may be a pattern with overcharging customers for time worked. For example, I was charged for more hours than the guys were on site for, and I was charged the flat fee on top of the hourly fee. This was all cleared up when I called the person who gave me the original estimate, but I feel that it never should have been an issue in the first place: were they thinking I wouldn’t notice and would just pay it? Also, I do not appreciate that another person who works with the company, Aaron, was not wearing a mask. He came to my property mid-job, apparently to offer advice on a lighting fixture inside. I did not know why he was here and did not know that he intended to enter my home. I had a conversation with him outside; I was wearing a mask as were the other electricians. A bit later Aaron came into my house without a mask on. It seems like common sense to me that if the homeowner is wearing a mask outside and inside, you should not enter their home without also wearing a mask. I have attached a picture of the top of my invoice to prove that I am a legitimate customer. Overall I recommend this company, but if you’ve contracted them under an hourly rate be sure you get what you’re billed for.
