I’m so pleased with my basement remodel in my SugarHouse home done by: Built By Design Construction. I sincerely mean it!

Everything went so well - perfectly. It came out better than I ever imagined! All the crafts people/workers did a fantastic job. I never had any problems.

It was a lot of work as they turned my old sad basement into a fabulous living space! I added a new bathroom, a laundry nook and also upgraded all the electrical throughout the house.

It was a great experience and well worth the time and money. I’m sure it has added a lot of value to my home. Love it!

Built By Design is an amazing group of people who really make your home remodel
vision a reality. From the first moment I engaged with the folks at Built By Design I have been treated with kindness, humor, and respect. Justice, Zach, and Christian follow through and more importantly are expert communicators. Can’t is not a word those guys would use. The work is tops but it is the people at Built By Design that have made my experience so great. I strongly encourage anyone thinking of home renovation to work with Built By Design. You will not be disappointed by the craftsmanship but even more you will not be disappointed by people who listen and follow through every step of the way. I have already recommended them to people looking at a remodel. The BEST company I have ever worked with on anything!!

Excellent quality and the service and attention to detail was better than other construction companies I've dealt with in the past. The new owners even checked in on the job in-person to make sure everything was going according to plan and working with our schedule. I definitely recommend BBD.

Our kitchen and bathroom remodel was supposed to take 3 months. It wound up taking 6 and came in $20K over budget.
After 4 months of living without a kitchen, twenty minutes after the FIRST set of kitchen cabinets were installed, I heard a loud “bang”. It turned out to be the cabinets hitting the floor. Then I realized that they completely scratched the new floor during installation. When we asked to have them replaced, the subcontractor chased my husband out of our house screaming obscenities. Later, we learned that subcontractor’s license was expired while they were working on our home.
Aside from the surreal cabinetry drama, the other things we dealt with were contractors barging into the house unannounced after hours. I spent a lot of time arguing about cabinetry layout, flooring, tiling and even had to insist on things like sealing off the kitchen while the dry wall was being sanded. Whenever I complained, or asked for help the project manager told me to handle the problem myself.
After months of managing one fiasco after another, we decided to fire these guys before the project was finished rather than deal with any further insanity or incompetence. And then I got an angry call from the owner who threatened to put a lien on my house before they had even invoiced me for the final amount.
The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars is because the plumbers and the electricians were good. Overall, please, do your wallet and your mental health favor, and steer clear of these guys.

Started a project with the previous owner of built by design a year ago. The project was a nightmare from day one. Fired them in Feb. They now owe us $50,000. We have been working with the new owners, they have tried to pay us back. However the previous owner left them with a mountain of debit.I hope I don’t have to hire a lawyer.

Ivory Homes built a great home for us in St. George at Sienna Hills. We built the Mancini plan. There were many standard features that would have been upgrades elsewhere. They were very helpful in the design center so that making choices of colors, etc. was easy to do. Tim Sweat was very helpful in making the choices.

I bought a home in St. George. I signed papers in December when interest rates were way better. It was supposed to be done at the end of May. They didn't finish until mid August. The loan I was supposed to do with their preferred lender was no longer available by the time they were done with the house. As a part of my deal Ivory was offering $8k toward closing costs if we used their preferred lender which we no longer could do because Ivory took so long to build the home. In the end, not only was my interest rate nearly double, but they refused to pay the $8k toward closing costs since we had to use a different lender. They completely profited off of their delays. They did the same thing to my neighbor. I tried to work it out with them even after closing with no response. The superintendent was great, the agent I worked with was great, but the company itself has had every opportunity to treat me and my neighbor fairly in regards to this matter and they've chosen to be unresponsive.

Doug Babcock has been a great salesman while we were having our home built by Ivory. He was extremely helpful and gave us constant updates along the way. He is a friendly, supportive and will take the time to answer your questions throughout the whole process. We are happy to be in our home and grateful to Doug for all he did to get us there.

When we first moved to Utah everyone recommended Ivory Homes and we took their recommendation and purchased a brand new build. For the time, we got it for a good price and for not being custom, it was pretty close to what we were wanting. However, almost right off the bat we had severe issues with whoever they contracted out to do our concrete. Our basement concrete is completely split, our outside concrete is a seriously dangerous concern, and our garage concrete has split as well even after sealing it once we moved in like they recommended. Well, we emailed the customer service gal that has helped us with some questions as first time home buyers and she told us that she’d send someone out to lift up our walking pad to get to our house. Well, he did come by but once the concrete settled it made it SO MUCH WORSE! And now we are told that it is our problem because we are “passed the warranty time”. Convenient. I will attach pictures of our issues and the incredibly neglectful and dangerous job that was preformed. Where they “lifted” the concrete had dropped and inch and has caused over a 5 inch split in our stairs concrete. We mentioned before how there are animals such as bunnies, cats, and some sort of mole or vole that continue to get stuck under our cement stairs. We asked them to come and fix the issue that was caused due to their concrete contractor and they have refused to. So disappointing and will be looking for another home builder for our next property.

I will be the first to admit that I was hesitant to build a house. Ivory made the process smooth and I received such amazing support from Scott Burt and the team at Ivory. They would check up on us and see if we had any questions or concerns. Our superintendent was responsive and supportive. Scott advocated for us at every opportunity.I would only recommend LISTENING to Scott! He has plenty of experience. If I hadn't listened to the suggestions, I am confident that my house wouldn't feel complete. And they weren't "costs" - just suggestions to help my home be the best it could be.
Ivory took the stress and minimized it - they helped with colors, had a super that was on top of any construction issues.
The best part is that my husband is a stucco/sheetrock man by trade. Even he was impressed with the quality of work that was done. The Stucco looked amazing!
I wouldn't have guessed that I would have ever built my own home - but with Ivory's support and process it was worth it! Thank you!

Our experience with Ivory Homes has been phenomenal. We looked into several home builders in the Salt Lake area and when we came across Ivory, they were the clear win. We have been very happy with the service we have been given since making that decision. We were given a timeline of 11 months from signing. Our beautiful new home was completed in 9 months. Tim, our agent has been nothing but helpful throughout the process. It has been made seamless due to his hard work and care. He represents Ivory very well and clearly takes pride in pleasing his customers. Along with that he takes responsibility and has made sure that any questions or concerns we had were fully resolved by him in a timely manner. We also have been so pleased with the hard work shown by our super, Amy. She is a rockstar! Our encounters with her have been few because she simply has gotten the job done! She is pleasant to work with and her attention to detail is unreal! It is evident that she takes pride in her work and has done an amazing job on our new home. We could not be more impressed with her. We simply have not had to encounter any one else at Ivory because Tim and Amy have met our every need. We are beyond grateful for the dedication the two of them have put forth towards something so important to us!
