Joseph at Bushman Landscaping and Design turned our plain backyard into a beautiful outdoor oasis!! His custom design was creative and thoughtful, and the flagstone walkways, trees, landscaping, and sprinkler system were all installed professionally and on time. We were looking to remodel our backyard and had already paid another company for a design, but unfortunately the plan we received was disappointing. It didn’t consider our budget, the plants and trees weren’t appropriate for Utah’s secondary water or alkaline soil, and the design didn’t include any dimensions. We didn’t realize how unusable it was until we started talking to contractors.
That’s when we met Joseph, and the difference was night and day.
He came out, took full measurements, and created a proper plan from scratch. He immediately understood that we were on secondary water and proactively suggested plant replacements that would actually survive in our conditions. He also brought creative, thoughtful ideas to help us reduce cost without sacrificing function or aesthetics. For example, instead of building a floating bench attached to the retaining wall, he suggested making the wall a sittable height so the entire length becomes usable seating. He also recommended replacing part of the retaining wall with a sloped walk‑in garden to save money while improving the layout.
On top of the quality and expertise, his pricing was the most competitive out of the six landscaping companies we spoke with — and not by a small margin. For items outside his scope, he was even willing to subcontract and still offer a great price.
The only reason we didn’t end up working with him was timing. Another project got ahead of ours, which would have pushed our start date back by a month, and unfortunately we couldn’t wait. But if timing had worked out, we would have chosen him without hesitation.
We will absolutely consider Joseph for our next project. His professionalism, honesty, and creativity truly stood out.

Joseph came and added bark, shrubbery, curbing, sprinklers and sod to our backyard, as well as a circle of pavers for a fire pit area. We are super pleased with the result and happy with the total price.

I was very excited to get a quote for a large xeriscape project I am trying to get done. He came out on July 10th and took care of measuring and appeared extremely professional. Afterward he got my email and promised to send a quote by email very soon. I began texted him on the 16th wondering about my quote, no response. I waited until the 21st to call and text again, still no answer or response. On the 22nd I called and texted yet again, he finally responded with "I haven't had time yet. Sorry I'm too busy to get you a bid." So after waiting over 2 weeks he has decided to not do anything at all for me as I patiently awaited his bid.
This is terrible service and value of customers.

Bushman Landscaping's quote was around half of Avant Garde's price. The Avant Garde guy was pretty skeptical about the quality we would receive at our price.

It's only been a few days since the lawn was put in, but we got really solid value. I'm picky, so I have been dissatisfied on some minor fronts, but I have to remember the great price I got it at.

If I was rating for quality alone, I might give it 4 stars instead of 5. If you're a perfectionist with lots of cash, maybe look somewhere else. Bushman worked great for us. 👍

Excellent work. friendly. He did our landscaping and sprinklers then took the time to show us all about them, how to winterize and so on. He answered questions that we had and took the time to make sure that we understood our new system. We adjusted our plans while he was working and he didn’t get irritated or upset. Thank you for such a great job!

It may be both rare and cliché to say that my review won't do Bushman Landscaping justice, but it's true. Joseph did everything right from the time we asked him to come out for a bid, to setting expectations, to meeting those expectations, to finishing and turning in the work.

Based on the work Joseph did—single-handedly—on our 0.4 acre back yard I can honestly say that he is hard working, punctual, detail oriented, efficient, and an effective communicator. No up-selling or excuses. If there's a supply limitation you'll know about it promptly. If you have feedback, he'll listen and work with you.

Don't wait to get on his schedule. He books quickly, and for good reason!
