They came highly recommended from a dear friend. Needed my HVAC serviced and water heater inspected for repair/replacement. Jon was very knowledgeable and professional during our initial call. Techs came out within the designated window. They were extremely polite, respectful, and informative. Teddy able to change out our dual capacitor while they were present…which didn’t take much time. I would definitely hire again!

Great tech came out and checked our system. Gave us our options and explained everything and answered our questions above and beyond what was needed. Work.was done quickly. Will have him out again in a month or so.to replace the thermostat too!

One of the most, if not the most, honest companies that I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing business with. I’ve had representatives from them come out twice so far. And each time, they have told me exactly what is wrong with my HVAC system and not tried to bait and switch, like others have done to me. Upon 6/12~ I hired John and Brent from Shaffer to diagnose a leak in a mini -split ac unit. Speaking from experience, I’ve taken part in multiple discussions with home contractors, the Shaffer experience was by far the most valuable and meaningful. I was delivered multiple options to correct the problem, but the best part being the invaluable insight shared regarding the best approach for my respective situation. There was a level of trust reached over a 2 hour period. I recommend Shaffer to anyone needing heating and cooling services.

Our upstairs unit was almost 30 years old, and it was time for a new one. I called the HVAC company that installed our downstairs unit 11 months ago because it stopped working, and they couldn't come out to fix it for 9 days! So I ran across Shaffer on the internet, and they were very responsive and had someone come out immediately. The owner of Shaffer called me before the installation, went over the process, and was very polite and informative. The installation crew was on time for the scheduled visit, and when they were done, they cleaned up after themselves. I wouldn't hesitate to use and recommend their service in the future. Contacted this company for emergency service for my grandmother. Shaffer arrived within 30 minutes of our conversation and within 45 minutes, she was back cool and comfortable. To note, the owner of the company provides impeccable knowledge and diligent servicing. Highly recommend to anyone in the Hampton Roads.

I installed a new thermostat and couldn't get it to work. They came over and helped me out with it. I had one of the settings wrong. Those big companies can't be bothered with small stuff like this. Always work with small local private businesses whenever you can. They still care. Thank You for your help. I was getting a little chilly.

Jon and Teddy are skilled professionals. We use them for all our heating and AC needs. They’re trustworthy, very reliable, excellent with follow up, always on time and are really good guys. I give them a 10 out of 10 rating and would highly recommend them.

Just had a new AC/Furnace installed for the upstairs and Jon Shaffer's team was awesome to work with. From Teddy giving a quote to Brent and counterpart doing the install, everything was smooth. Jon, the owner, even stopped by to make sure the new system was running optimal before they left. The team is very respectful and personable. They covered their work path to protect my carpet and placed covers over their shoes every time entering the house. Best pricing I could find, too. Experience was pleasant which is hard to find these days.

From start to the finish the replacement of my existing downstairs HVAC system done by Shaffer went so smoothly I was glad I chose them to do the work. Setting up the estimate visit to completion of the work took less than 5 days. (My unit was not broken or I am sure it would have been done quicker.) The price was very fair and there was no hard pressure sales pitch for any add ons that I have heard other contractors try to push. The workers who did the install of the new unit and electrical upgrade were on time and very professional. I was ecstatic at the outstanding quality of work and the way they respected my property. I truly believe my garage was cleaner after the work was completed than before they arrived. My upstairs HVAC system is getting close to needing replacement as is my gas water heater. When that day comes I know I will call Shaffer Heating and cooling to perform the work. I will be certain to recommend Shaffer Heating and Cooling to my family and friends if they need this type of work done on their homes.

Most trust worthy guy in VB. I was introduced to Mr. Shaffer through my property manager and was very impressed. He replaced a unit for me and did great work at a phenomenal price! Fast forward a few weeks during this unbearable heat wave, my unit at my home was acting up and with-in the hour he was here and had everything fixed in no time. If you’re looking for a hard working honest company, give Shaffer a call, you’ll be glad you did.

Teddy was very punctual and efficient. He explained everything that he did and suggested a few upgrades. He even installed a WiFi thermostat and ensured that everything worked properly.
