Landscaping reviews in Fairfax, Virginia

We hired Premium Lawn Care to mow our lawn once and treat our weeds. We have turfed areas in our yard from being cut short and many weeds. We hired the company to come back and do a follow-up weed treatment and then a aeration and feed services. We have been waiting for weeks for these services to be done. I received a call to schedule the aeration and feed and when I asked about the other services the person didn’t know anything about it. I just reached out to the company and was told that they didn’t have my signed contract; how can this be when I receive that call? I resent the signed contract email and was told someone would get back to me… No thank you. Very disappointed and frustrated.

We have been clients of Premium Lawn and Landscape for over 20 years and have had wonderful results with this company. Great customer service, professional landscaping and landscapers who take pride in their work, easy and flexible contract terms (we have year-round maintenance), and an educated and licensed Arborist who gives the best advice for healthy management of trees/shrubs. Upon our recommendation, many families in our community use Premium and we have never heard about a neighbor who was not satisfied. Keep up the GOOD WORK!

Premium does a great job with the lawn every week and their dependability is like clockwork. They have never missed a cut. Their pricing for seeding and aeration is reasonable.

Premium cuts grass in our community. I live in Lansdowne. I have asked their guys not to blow debris at my cars. They look at me like I'm stupid. They continue to do it. My husband has addressed this with Steve, no results. He needs to train his employees and let them know it is not acceptable. What happens when a rock hits a window? I don't appreciate dirt and sand being blown on my cars. This needs to stop.

The goal was to update our gardens by splitting plants, trimming bushes, and leaving all the split plants and bushes. The once beautiful garden has been trashed! The large box woods should have been thinned underneath instead they used a blade to trim all around. Absolute terrible job. I asked them to leave all the expensive astilbe plants that they split. The team had them on the lawn and when I went outside to ask to bring up to a shaded spot they had tossed them in the truck per Mark’s instructions and would not take them out. We’ve used this organization prior at another home and the person who was in charge and the workers did a great job. The company has changed and I suggest you do the same.

Premium has been our weekly mowing and annual leaf removal company for over two years. We are very pleased with the quality, care and consistency of the team that takes care of our property. It's also nice that they keep a fairly consistent schedule and service team. We plan on continuing to use them in the future!

We had an outstanding experience with Premium Lawn. Our designer and project manager was Peter Rhyne. We originally met with three landscaping companies and thought Peter's design and action plan far exceeded the competing proposals.
Peter was able to give us a detailed design plan and several "3D" images of what the property would look like when he finished. His design included all the elements we asked for but what I most appreciated was his out-of-the-box thinking and how to lay it out. It was creative and beautiful--and done in a way I would have never come up with on my own.
Building the new backyard took two crews and he seamlessly integrated their work and schedule. One team leveled the backyard, laid the brick and planted the trees and plants. A second crew installed the wood fence and gates. The fence surrounding the property is a combination of brick and wood, and two contractors I met with (not part of the final three) couldn't figure out how to marry the two design elements together. But not a problem for Peter and his team.
The final product matched the original design perfectly--it's almost surreal looking at the original "3D" images how closely they resemble the final product.
And that final product came in on budget!
I would highly recommend Peter and Premium Lawn for your landscape architecture needs. -
I had a pretty mixed experience with Premium. Loved their pricing and their on-site workers, who really pushed hard and got the job done quickly and thoroughly.
Their customer service on the other hand needs a lot of work. I had to send reminders and follow ups for pretty much every step of the process, and when the work was complete, there was never any follow up from our Project Manager to ask how things were or if we needed any advice on maintenance (we were re-growing an entire backyard of grass as part of the work). I didn't get the sense that they really valued or even cared about our business. Their office neglected to send the final invoice for weeks after the job was done (we had to ask for it) and then asked us where the payment was after a couple of days when we finally got the invoice (it was in the mail).
I might use them again, but would be more encouraged to do so if I knew they took customer care a little more seriously. -
Great company, highly recommend. I originally had the company lay new sod and they did a great job. I've been using them for lawn service for years now, always dependable and great quality service. Recently had an issue with a rotting tree and they came out quickly to give me an estimate for removal and pricing was very competitive. Made the entire process very easy and did a great job with tree removal and clean up.

Sales rep John K shared his vision of a dry creek bed to alleviate erosion and drainage issues in my yard. And Mario and his crew turned that vision into a reality. I couldn't be happier with the results, and how quickly the work was completed. Mario and his team went above and beyond. Thank you Premium Lawn and Landscape!!!

We had to repair a leak in our sewer line, which required digging up the front yard and walkway. The plumbing company brought Premium in to restore the yard and they dd great work. Filled in the hole, restored the grass and put the walkway back so it looks great. Thank you!

I had some really tall trees that needed to come down, and I was honestly a little nervous about it. But these guys handled everything. They got the job done faster than I expected and cleaned up afterwards. Thank you!

Laura is always so informative when it comes to questions/concerns for my Trees. I have been very pleased with Premium Lawn since I started using several years ago.

I'd like to commend Laura, Marlon, and Christian for some very professional work yesterday. Because of an insurance claim resulting from unexpected and considerable damage to the lawn, shrubs and a retaining wall, Laura came by in advance to scout out the work necessary and come up with a reasonable estimate. Laura was very cognizant of what would work best and really knew her stuff. When Marlon and Christian came to do the work, they were extremely conscientious, and did an excellent job. They went above and beyond, and did some extra cleanup that was not really essential to the project, but looked very good nonetheless. The entire crew demonstrated care and was thoughtful to deliver a well-crafted package I would certainly contract again with Premium. Thank you for a job well done.

Premium Lawn and Landscape has provided excellent service! They mow the lawn, weed, mulch, trim, landscape, seed, aerate, trim trees and remove leaves. They even repaired the stone porch in the front of the house. Premium provides a wide array of services (one-stop shopping). Best of all I work with a very capable account manager named Laura Lagaly who provides great customer service. Laura's expertise (including clever landscaping ideas) is unsurpassed. My flowers started out looking like an overgrown unkempt flower garden. In just a couple of short years, my flower garden looks beautiful. When I call the office, they always take the time to solve issues, concerns or questions.

I hired Premium to pull out several existing bushes and a tree in my front yard and replace them with new low maintenance bushes and a couple of trees. I called Laura again to do some sod work in the front yard. I spent several thousand dollars on these projects. A few months later I noticed one of the bushes was dying and one of the trees was leaning. I called Laura because I wanted to have some trees/bushes trimmed and needed an estimate. I mentioned to her about the bush dying and the tree leaning since the contract stated their was a 1 year warranty. She seemed to be grasping for straws as she came up with reasons that the bush could possibly be dying. She asked if we had a dog that could have peed on the bush and I told her our dogs go in the backyard, she asked if we used Round Up and I told her no because we have dogs, then she asked how often we were watering the bushes and I told her about twice a week as per her instructions. Then she said we were overwatering it and those bushes don't need much water. I didn't buy that since all the other bushes were not dying and they were getting the same amount of water. Not to mention we were going through a drought this summer. She said the bush would have to be replaced because it would not come back and that the warranty wouldn't cover it. I mentioned that they planted the tree and it was leaning but she said it was growing towards the sun that's why it was leaning, but the other tree they planted wasn't leaning towards the sun so I don't buy that one either. She said she would give me an estimate to replace the bush and to stake the tree. If they had just honored their warranty and replaced the bush and taken a few minutes to stake the tree we would have been happy. Laura emailed me asking if I had reviewed her estimate for the additional tree trimming, to replace the bush and to stake the tree. I told her we were not going to go through with it because we were not happy with their response. Her reply to me was simply "thanks for letting me know". She never bothered to come out to look at the bush or the tree. For something that would have cost them less than $50 to remedy under their warranty, they have lost my business.

An absolutely great experience. PL&L came out quickly to survey the place where we wanted a new paver patio, within a day made a truly competitive offer, and then their word was done quickly, professionally, and beautifully. I couldn't be happier with what I paid for this experience and service, and the quality that was provided. Would heartily recommend having them come give you a quote.

Premium lawn and landscape have been taking care of my lawn for 13 years. Their pricing is fair and if I have ever encountered an issue and brought it to their attention, they took care of me straight away. Much appreciated.

We signed up for mowing this summer and have been very pleased with the service. Additionally, we contracted Premium to do a "general cleanup" of weeds, ivy along the fence line, and removal of a boxed-in rock bed. The landscape team had to work in the extreme heat that day and did a wonderful job! They took care of everything listed on the initial estimate. The crew and team leader were very professional and friendly. I would highly recommend them for mowing and general clean up services!

This is my second season year with Premium, very reliable, the crew is right on schedule time every week. Completely satisfied with service. After experiencing good service I am looking forward to getting some landscape work done this year. Thank you taking care of my lawn up keep.

Stay away from this company ... they will damage your property! Hired this company to mow my lawn. Before they even started, I conducted a walk-through of my property with the Field Manager (Steve) and expressed my concern about potential damage to my outdoor speakers. Steve and I mutually agreed that no string trimmers would ever be used around the speakers. Last month I was quite frustrated to find an outdoor speaker totally destroyed by a string trimmer (see photo). After a lengthy and difficult process, Premium Lawn reluctantly agreed to replace the speaker but it was too little and too late. Take your business somewhere else and save yourself the frustration of dealing with this company ... trust me on this.
