I have lived here in p_town USA for more than 35 years now...
And we on Peake lane have never had our street replaced or pit holes patched.
But other streets around us has had lots of work done to them and NOTHING DONE on our street.
Please DON'T MOVE TO P-TOWN VA. USA. -
This Portsmouth department are awful liars instead being honest & just saying the cost has gone up they tell you that you might have a leek call a plumber... most of us know or can tell when we got plumbing issues but every home owner i've talked to said there Water bill went up $40 or more...SO DOES THE WHOLE CITY HAS A LEEK??

Portsmouth public works picks up your trash / recycling when they want to ! Leave trash in the middle of the road and never pick up recycling bins !
-
Wheels feel off trash can after it was emptied. Called for a replacement. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still waiting. Defective trash can has been at curb since that happened.
-
The city is filthy! Anywhere you go, main roads, side streets there is trash everywhere, junk cars, houses. What do the work crews do when they are doing nothing? Disgusting.

I don't think a person should expect much. I called the supervisor for Portsmouth public utilities and left a message several times. there is a 4 foot by 1 and 1/2 foot 200lb manhole cover in my neighbor's yard that is not covering the manhole and it's causing a sinkhole in my yard that is about 3 foot by 4 foot at this time. I would think this could be an easy enough fix, especially knowing that it's only going to get much worse and much more expensive to fix. there also is a chance for some major flooding for myself and the neighbors around me in my opinion. There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest and fixing the problem.

Chuck did a major update on my boat lift by replacing roller bars, stainless cables and bunks. His communications were timely and he met his commitments on getting the job done on time. His pricing was very fair and his quality was great. I will be using him again to do some dock work in the fall.

Our experience with Inlet Marine has been nothing short of spectacular from day one.
Chuck Archer, Josh and the crew move at lightening speed and do amazing high quality custom work. Sound to good to be true? yeah we thought so too until we saw it with our own eyes.
Our project was not an easy one, there were a lot of obstacles in the way. Satisfying the three governing authorities, complying with the 25% MLW while still being able to negotiate a 30 ft boat into the slip was a tall order. Chuck was unrelenting and reassuring the whole way through the process until we were able to get the building permit. It's important to note that this was an 8 month process with more than a half a dozen drawings submitted to the city and VMRC. Chuck took a personal interest in making sure we came out on the right side. Chuck also worked with us and rearranged his schedule so that we could start construction shortly after obtaining the building permit .
Once the guys got the go ahead the next day there were what seemed like 100 floating pilings right off the waterline at our house. Everyday I came home from work it was like an army had been working the day. I had to take a 6 day business trip in the middle of it, when I got back it was 75% complete. I think the whole pier which consisted of a long entryway to be custom built from our existing decking to a step down pier that opened up to a finger pier, 16x16 entertaining area, ramp floating dock, pilings for two jet skis and two fully completed boat lifts.
Inlet stuck to their bid and did not nickel and dime us at all. Chuck also made suggestions along the way like the triple rope railing (which turned out Gorgeous) and the space they built for a dock-box, rub railing, lighting he took a vested interest in making sure the pier was everything we wanted it to be and more. It was a pleasurable experience from start to finish and the end product is a show stopper! We just had out house warming party and our friends and neighbors went out to look at it in the rain and all commented on how nicely it was done. Susan at Inlet Marine was also a pleasure to work with with the administrative end. Hats off to Inlet Marine! If you want to have top quality work done without spending a fortune or being nickel and dimed Inlet is a sure bet. Reliable, Honest, High Quality, Custom, are just of few of the words I would use to describe them. -
Chuck did a great job of maintaining and adjusting my boat lift. He went out of his way to visit my boat dealer to take measurements of my boat so that he could properly adjust the boat lift bunkers. On time, on budget, great attitude and always a smile on his face.

Chuck, Susan, and the team at Inlet Marine were a pleasure to work with. I was not always the most understanding customer, but they managed to install our new boat lift in a timely manner. The installation was professional and lift turned out perfect. Thank you Inlet Marine!
