I could not be happier with my Solar installation from SkyNRG. In the six months prior to my installation I did a lot of research on PV components and got offers from eight different installers, but I picked SkyNRG for a variety of reasons and I am very glad I did.

SkyNRG was great to deal with, extremely responsive and happy to answer my multitude of questions. Although my house is a very typical Northern Virginia single family home, they analyzed the relevant aspects of my home in detail to propose a system that fits my needs and blends in nicely. Robert and his team impressed me as they were extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and truly passionate about Solar. Throughout the entire process I could tell that they take great pride in their workmanship and strive to provide excellence in all aspects. Doing my research upfront I noticed they only use highest quality components. Most customers only pay attention to the main components (panels, inverter), but I was pleased to see that SkyNRG uses top notch materials only, even in areas that might not get as much attention (mounting system, electrical components). They also stood out by routing all conduits through inside walls, so the aesthetical appearance is superior to what I was offered by the other companies (routing conduit along the outside of the house). It was very reassuring that in all aspects they were always striving to implement the best, most durable solution to ensure a long lifetime of the system.

I felt very comfortable working with SkyNRG as Robert guided me through the entire process. He came for the initial consultation, provided the quote, and personally oversaw the entire installation process. There were absolutely no disconnects; at all stages Robert was very pleasant to deal with and I received exactly what was promised and how I expected it. Despite their exceptional performance, SkyNRG’s offer was very competitive with the other quotes I received. To me it felt like getting a superior product for the same price.

As stated, I did a lot of research about PV systems prior to investing in my system. Therefore I was very involved, asking the guys at SkyNRG about every step and followed every little detail of the installation. They actually enjoyed my curiosity and were happy to let me shadow each of their steps. The entire crew was extremely transparent about everything they did and explained in detail how everything works and why they do things in a certain way. I really appreciated this, it gave me peace of mind to be able to confirm that they were highly competent and everything was executed with great diligence.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, if you’re a customer that wants to go solar but you’re not interested in getting into all the details, working with SkyNRG should be equally satisfying. Based on their approach and professionalism you can rest assured that they will do an outstanding job and put in a top notch solar system.

I would consider myself as a pretty demanding customer and I typically do not refer or recommend contractors, but I am making an exception and leave a positive review as I am an extremely satisfied. SkyNRG exceeded my expectation – I would gladly work with them again.

I had a great experience with Sky NRG installing solar for my home two years ago. I’d been interested in solar power for a while but wasn’t sure if it’d work given some large trees we have behind our house. They gave me a realistic proposal for where solar panels could be installed on my roof given trees, shading, and roof orientation. They were flexible in the options they offered in terms of equipment while also making recommendations about what they felt was the best value. Although my panels are on the back of my house and the inverter is largely hidden behind bushes, they were clearly conscious of aesthetics and routed the wiring through my attic so that it’s essentially not visible.

Recently, they alerted me when my system stopped producing power and came out to take a look at what happened. It turns out that some ravenous squirrels apparently got on my roof and chewed through some cables, which they replaced, and also proposed adding a critter guard to keep them away from the equipment. Given the critter problem, they set up a schedule to come inspect the system every year to make sure everything’s in order and there’s no damage, which is certainly reassuring to make sure that the panels and equipment have the long lifespan we expect.

In general, they made it quite easy to add solar power to my house, and even though we were fairly limited in the size of the system that could be installed, it still provides about 2/3 of the power we use, saving us money and reducing our carbon footprint substantially. I’d definitely recommend that others take the opportunity to add solar power to their homes and I recommend Sky NRG to get the job done.

I was very impressed with Sky NRG Solar during my correspondence with them about solar installation. Although I ultimately picked a local company (I live in Charlottesville) for our installation, I was compelled to write this review because of their exceptional professionalism during my correspondence. Also, Sky NRG Solar's quote was one of the best we got among the five different companies we dealt with - and there was absolutely no sales pressure from the company - how refreshing!

Robert Mudry went above and beyond in his communications with me. Without fail, he responded to all my questions about solar panels (there were many over several weeks) within two days, if not sooner. He is extremely knowledgeable about solar and even went out of his way to contact a solar panel company's headquarters to relay a question I had about a new advanced panel I was interested in. This confirmed to me that Sky NRG will go the extra mile to accommodate their customers.

Sky NRG Solar's philosophy of overall aesthetics combined with high-quality products is a formula that should appeal to anyone interested in installing solar panels at their home.  In my experience with Robert I learned his goal is always to educate his potential clients, as going solar is an investment that offers innumerable benefits that will last for many, many years.

My husband and I had a stellar experience with Sky NRG from start to finish. They were hands-down the best contractor/business that we have worked with, and we have worked with about 20 or so in the last 4-5 years alone, from all sorts of different trades. Megan was always thorough and prompt with answering questions. We didn't get the run around and felt that she addressed all of our concerns. We never felt like that were trying to push the sale. We got constant communication regarding when each step was going to occur well in advance so that we were able to adequately plan our schedule. They always arrived on time, from the consultation to the site surveys to the install and final inspections. The team entire team was extremely courteous, taking care to keep the work areas extremely clean. They always wore masks when inside the home because they knew we had a young child. The work was impeccable. They worked with us to ensure that everything was installed cleanly and discreetly (there was no extra conduit present on the exterior or interior of the house). They were mindful to preserve the clean aesthetic of our home, which we greatly appreciated. Even though they had to cut a small section of drywall inside to run some lines, which they told us well in advance, and it wasn't their job to replace the dry wall, they kindly cut a brand new piece of dry wall to cover the opening the wall so that it was easy for us to replace the old piece that was removed. We have an older home and the support structure for the roof is original to the house and thus is delicate. We spoke to Robert and he understood right away. They never used nail guns. They pre drilled!!! It sounds simple but no one does this even when we have asked. Even the roofers used nail guns and caused cracks in the original 1x6 sheathing boards! We looked in the attic after the installation and found not one crack. There was not one loose nail, screw or debris left over when they were done. They checked with us if they had questions regarding how we wanted things to be done. It was clearly that they wanted to do a good job and we're not rushing through the job. Frankly, this is the best experience we have ever had with any business/company/contractor. We strongly recommend Sky NRG. We researched and spoke with other solar installers but we felt that they were trying too hard to sell their products and services without being able to completely answer our questions.

Exceptionally professional experience with SkyNRG from start to finish. Installation quality is notably superior to anything else we've seen in nearby residential solar installations. I only wish they would have offered to paint the conduit that runs along the gutters so that it would blend in that much better. But the conduit is well concealed and not noticeable unless you really look for it. Highly recommended!

I can't say enough great things about Sky Solar. They were immediately responsive to my inquiries, (kept me fully abreast through the entire process), prepared a thorough report for the Reston Association Review Board (all I had to do was forward it!). This is a great company! I contacted SkyNRG Solar about installing roof solar panels with a battery backup system after reading multiple great reviews about the company. My experience was just as positive as those reviews. SkyNRG responded to my initial query very promptly. Megan came to my home for a feasibility assessment and walked me through all the essentials. She was very patient with my numerous questions, and always straightforward with her answers. There was no hard sell, no over promising, and no evasiveness. The contract was clear and concise. After signing, the level of professionalism and great customer service from the whole staff that interacted with me was superb. The work crews were highly skilled, efficient, personable, and they left a clean job site. The extensive electrical work they did (because of the battery system) easily passed inspection. I love having this solar power system on my home, and enthusiastically recommend, with no hesitation, SkyNRG for anyone considering solar. This is a Five Star review because SkyNRG is truly a Five Star company.

We just had an excellent experience with skyNRG Solar, installing solar panels to provide all our electricity. The owner, Robert Mudry, was very helpful in explaining each part of the process as we went along, and his guys were super-efficient in getting the panels installed. And this extended all the way through getting Dominion approval.

Just a couple of notes before I provide the details of the costs and expected savings.
Several states [eg. CA] have already removed net metering provisions. Which means new installations in their states will NOT be eligible to sell their excess electric generation back to the utility, reducing the payback [already installed systems have been grandfathered]. VA has not yet adopted this position, but is said to be considering. Point being, that you may want to consider solar sooner, rather than later if you are thinking you might want to go this route.
Current Federal administration seems to be headed toward reducing all benefits from non-oil energy savings. This has two implications: 1) it is not impossible to conceive that the current Federal government might do all it can to remove the 30% tax credit; and 2) there are a lot of people out there right now offering solar in a variety of schemes - BUT with all the tumult in this field, it is expected that their ranks might be thinning. Therefore if you do choose to go ahead, try to choose a firm more likely to be around to honor their guarantees.

Now the numbers: our house is a bit over 2,300 sq ft and we have a gas boiler providing part of our heating system. The size of your solar array will depend on your electric bills. Our electric bill averaged $126/mo over the last 33 months. Depending on roof orientation and shading, some homes do better than others. This impacts the payback time, some homes approach 7.5 yrs payback time, some are at over 11 yrs. Our house was not the best, thus the 10 yr payback.

We were concerned that installing a major solar system for our home would be very disruptive. But SKY NRG made the experience seamless and easy. They were professional, schedule oriented, and thoroughly explained each step of the process. We now have an amazing solar panel and battery system that has exceeded our expectations, performing very well under the recent 100 degree summer weather in our area!

I researched and evaluated about 5-6 companies who install residential Solar Power plants. With my engineering roots, I can confidently state Sky NRG is the best out there, bar none. They optimize for cost and generation efficiency like no other company - things such as selection of the inverters (DC to AC conversion) that best match the panel's production capacity, so that when you pay per watt of solar panel capacity installed, you get the most energy converted to AC power. 2. They are not rushed and do a very neat and clean job, taking care of little things like following edges and contours of your roof and siding, etc. in a manner that the conduit wire pipes don't scream for attention!. 3. Their entire team is courteous and attentive to your needs.

I hired Sky NRG Solar to install several new outlets and a subpanel in my garage. I was very impressed with the quality of their work, their professionalism, and their punctuality. They arrived on time, completed the job within the estimated time frame, and cleaned up after themselves. They also tested everything and walked me through the multi-GCI setup to ensure I understood the many failsafes built into the system.
The new outlets have made my garage more convenient and versatile. I can now use my power tools, charge my electric car, operate a lift, and listen to music without hassle. The electricians also advised me on how to avoid overloading the circuit and how to prevent fire hazards.

Sky NRG takes pride in very clean-looking installations. They did not disappoint. They used an aluminum mounting frame under their panels that was able to span over some vents on our roof. This gave us an installation without ugly gaps or steps in the panel layout. They also did not run unsightly conduit along the roof. All of the electrical wiring was hidden from view. The very cool Solar Edge app provides real-time monitoring of both production and consumption. The overall quality of the system is excellent, and price was very competitive.

I waited 2 months after my installation to post this review.  I can confidently say that Sky NRG Solar has been an amazing solar partner.  I was referred to them by a friend who was extremely happy with their work.  After evaluating 3-4 solar companies, I selected Sky NRG Solar.  Every aspect of the process (detailed proposal, contracting, onsite evaluation, permitting, installation, net metering and final county approval) was completed efficiently and to my satisfaction.  After installation, they provided guidance to easily enroll in the SREC marketplace.  Within a month, my friend received his referral bonus ($500).  I strongly endorse Sky NRG Solar for anyone who is interested in pursuing a solar solution.  Thanks again Sky NRG!

Robert from Sky NRG came out to replace a bad communications board in my SolarEdge inverter, after my monitoring service was unable to find an installer to do it. He did an outstanding job and mentioned a couple of important items that would benefit my system (whole house surge protector and consumption meter). Charles and Alex came out a few days later and did a great job installing both items for a reasonable price and Robert was able to assist me in switching from my former national monitoring company to SkyNRG, which is so much better because he is local ... if there are any issues with my system, I will know much quicker, and they will be able to repair it, which was so not the case with my former monitoring service. I am also able to use the SolarEdge app now which provides me with so much more information about my systems production. Robert is honest, patient, and explained what he was doing, helping me to learn a lot about my inverter. His employees Alex and Charles, and Jason and Dmitri from a previous job (panel critter guard installation on a really, really hot 90 degree day) were equally patient and competent, explaining as they went along. Great company and I highly recommend them!!

I have nothing but great things to say about Sky NRG. We shopped around quite a bit before finding them and between price, professionalism, quality, and honesty, no one came close. We've had the panels installed for over 5 months now and they've been operating flawlessly. Our electric bill this month was $19! It's so exciting seeing the system production against consumption on the real-time dashboard that comes with the SolarEdge inverter. Robert and his crew were extremely courteous and knowledgeable. Word spread in our neighborhood and 4 other homes also went with Sky NRG all which have been extremely pleased with their systems. Going solar now is a no-brainer, and going with Sky NRG is even more so.

I want to give my strongest recommendation for Sky NRG Solar. I had a complex, 20KW ground-mounted solar power system installed at my property in Leesburg, VA in 2022, and I couldn’t be happier. From the beginning, Robert and his staff were professional, knowledgeable, flexible and accessible throughout the process. They walked me through all aspects of the project, and were very patient as I completed my parts. I no longer have an electric bill beyond NOVEC’s $16.38 mandatory monthly fee. This was a complex project with multiple batteries, three 200-amp breaker panels, and a giant solar array. You really can’t go wrong by choosing Sky NRG Solar. They have deep experience in all aspects of a solar power project, and don’t just “set it and forget it” like so many other companies do. With Sky NRG Solar you’re getting the power production you want, with the customer experience and long-term relationship you need for this kind of endeavor. I did a TON of research into solar energy companies in the DC metro area, and this one truly deserves top marks. We had several door-to-door solar "sales" people walk through our neighborhood pushing way more expensive systems, and we are very happy we didn't go with those other companies. SkyNRG had the most competitive pricing, and they are very professional in guiding homeowners through the entire process. They are not just salesmen and they actually care about their design and installation (and your home). They were flexible with timing and talked us through all of the benefits of installing solar. Other companies tried to have competitive pricing, but then they nickel-and-dimed everything on top of the contract. Rob made it clear from the start that SkyNRG won't do that, and they were right. Their price in their quote was the price we paid, even with some add-ons that I requested. They also let me decide where the inverter was going to go in my house, and even gave me information on car chargers that we can install later when we decide to get an EV. If you are even just considering solar, reach out to them early. I don't feel like they ever really pressured me at all when I was still talking with other companies, and I couldn't be happier with the final results. If you contact them, be sure to ask about SRECs and the Fed tax credit, which can really cut down on the cost to pay off the investment.
