I am so happy with our backyard patio that Green Side Up designed and installed for us. They are easy to work with and gave me exactly what I wanted. Reasonable cost ( I got 4 other quotes), timing was spot on.. great experience from beginning to end. I highly recommend Green Side Up!

1. Consistent - They show up the same time/every week. I don't have to wonder my landscaping team is.
2. Communication - Incredible communication. Almost too much communication but we appreciate it.

Very happy with our custom update add-on garden project. Good communication, and I got to choose my plants at the suppliers landscape yard. On time, professional, well done!

We worked with Craig and the Green Side Up team to clean up our yard, grade, add French drains, dry creek bed, 4 ornamental trees, define flower beds, expand our irrigation to the backyard and install sod. During the process they were very responsive to any issue or question we brought up. It’s Day 2 after completion, but so far we are pleased with the way it turned out and so are our neighbors! They were comparable to other landscape quotes we received and overall we chose them because we valued their communication and responsiveness.

GSU does a terrific job! They are so reliable, it’s amazing, especially compared to other services I’ve used. I work a lot with Ivan and Mike and they are so responsive and helpful - but no one else has ever disappointed me. Thanks, GSU!

We had GSU do a complete landscape installation. We gave them a plan we had drawn up by a local landscape expert and they executed it beautifully. They had to tear out our existing front beds to reinstall new, and install brand new beds around the other 3 sides. They were extremely professional every step of the way, communicating when they had trouble finding the exact match of plants and suggesting alternatives. Their on-site foreman was friendly and extremely polite, making adjustments I requested as to plant spacing, etc. I would recommend them highly to anyone looking for landscape services.

Not happy with their service any more. Initially, they did a better job than any other landscaper I’ve tried so far. Now after the first growing season has started, things have gone downhill. They slipped into the same groove that all the others found: they zip in, mow the lawn, and zip back out, as fast as humanly possible. They leave weeds and vines that were part of the original job description untouched. They left the hedges untrimmed for months until there were two foot tall spires growing out of the tops and the windows were becoming obscured. I had to nag for three consecutive weeks before they finally showed up and did the job. The excuse was that these things are done on a quarterly schedule. Well, my shrubs and weeds do not grow on a quarterly schedule. I'm easy to deal with (if you do a good job), so I suggested an upgrade in the contract to cover the things that were not getting done in a timely fashion. I have repeated that request now three times, with no response whatsoever. I don't like having to complain to get a contractor to properly do a job, but I certainly would rather complain that pay good money for substandard services. Showing me disrespect by not responding to my emails was the last straw. Now, on top of all the other things I have to do, I have to interview another dozen so-called groundskeepers, hoping to find just one who can be trusted.
I should also mention that I let them bid on doing my front walkway. The design they suggested was drab and unattractive at nearly twice any similar bid. I suggested one change to try to make it more palatable, and never heard back from them about it. Not impressed. They just do not seem to be interested in doing anything but lightning mowing and collecting monthly payments. This is a truthful depiction of the service I have received, and this review will not be retracted or edited.

We have been using GSU for several years and our yard has never looked so good! From mowing to mulching, leaf clean up to pruning every job is done professionally. GSU is top notch in service and communications with their clients.

I would definitely recommend this company! I had a majority of my front mulch bed re-done. The guys came and removed everything in one day and then planted the next. Everything was quick, easy, and hands-off (I was at work while they completed the entire project). They also mulched a tree in the front yard with some extra mulch so everything would match. Not to mention I got the cheapest quote from Green Side Up (out of multiple companies). Such a great experience!

This is an *excellent* company. We have a large property with extensive landscaping that we could never maintain ourselves. Green Side Up took the time to listen to exactly what we wanted and needed and they delivered beyond what I expected. Every service has been prompt, courteous, and well done. Every single thing is taken care of with amazing attention to detail. The lawn looks beautiful, the bushes and trees look perfect - everything is taken care of, from edging to trimming to mowing to mulching to clean up. They just planted my gorgeous weeping willow tree and it looks fantastic. I cannot recommend this company enough.

In these last months I have started with my contract with GSU. The "onboarding" process was amazing. The communication process is excellent and I can see and know that they are available and responsive. They are competent and thorough and I feel confident that I will finally have a yard that looks healthy and cared for. I have used big companies in the past, been disappointed in their work and their responsiveness and it is clear to me that GSU is very, very different in all regards. Highly recommend.

They made sure every detail was perfect and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the plantings.

We just started working with Green Side up landscaping. I love their website for information and the booking process. They have great communication and are proactive in getting you all the big information ahead of time. Each in person meeting has been conducted professionally and on time, which is so appreciated. The quality of work they have done with the retaining wall, mulching and sprinkler work has been impressive. We will continue to use Greenside up for more yard projects.

EDITED 3 December 2024: I posted this review in response to a billing request for a review (1 Nov 24) generated by the parent company of my Williamsburg branch. I have since posted my updated review to the Williamsburg location. The shoddy work was carried out by a different branch but the corporate structure seems to cover multiple locations and the problem stems from a management and leadership issue, not just lack of properly overseeing the work.

If I could give a half star or less I would. I hired Green Side Up when I bought our house from the previous owner because we were putting renters in it initially and I wanted to keep the same beautiful lawn that my predecessor had maintained. Unfortunately, somewhere in the time where I had renters in for a year and a half, and we lived out of the country, Green Side Up stopped providing the same level of lawn care. When I asked periodically for feedback from my property management company and GSU, no one told me about the state of the lawn. Imagine my shock and dismay when I returned to see it for myself. Zero weeding or pruning had been done. It was Overgrown, disheveled , and embarrassing. Several emails to GSU went answered. I hired someone else to clean up the back yard. Finally, I threatened to fire GSU immediately, despite having 6 months remaining on a year-long contract (that I had asked to discuss before renewing the year before; of course that request also went unanswered). Since my threat to fire them, I have seen a marked improvement. Apparently GSU has hired new managers to oversee the Crews work. The new manager promised to make it right and do the work to get it back to the state that it should’ve been kept in all along, stating that I had already paid for the work. However, there has been zero discussion about reducing my bill in anyway - A common practice for my inconvenience and the extra time and effort that I had to put in to fight get my lawn to the state that it I am paying for. The fact that I pay over $400 a month and they blatantly didn’t do the work that they were paid to do over the course of at least a year, I would expect a good faith refund of at least one month’s payment. Two weeks ago, I met with the vice president and told him that. He declined. He asked for a few more months to see if they could renew my faith in them as a company. This morning, I got my latest bill which is the same as always. As a result, I am posting this review and have every intention of firing them immediately. Customer satisfaction is easily won and easily lost. You had a chance to correct what you admitted was your fault, but rather than return a small refund to me, the company solution was to say that the crew who did the work at my house didn’t get their annual bonuses. I view this as the management failure not necessarily solely a problem with the workmen. Take your business elsewhere. I intend to.

GSU was quick to respond when requested a bid and quick to schedule work. The crew was amazing! They were polite, kept us informed, and did a great job installing the cobblestone edging on driveway. Thanks, Craig.
