Bartlett Tree Experts gets my nomination for best local business, hands down. Here’s why…

For the past two days, we could not find our porch kitty, Cat. While letting my dog out in the backyard yesterday, I heard a faint distant meow and began searching our yard, the neighbor's yard and looking into their garage windows, only to find that Cat was way up in a tree, maybe 100 feet above my head. Barbara, the homeowner whose tree Cat was in, came out to see. Our horror came in knowing she must have been up there for well over 24 hours! Likely, she had chased a squirrel up there, not thinking about how to get back down, as there was a nest about 4 feet above her. There were no nearby branches she could shimmy back down on and the trunk was too steep to climb in reverse without slipping. Likewise, there was nowhere to jump or fall that she would not have been badly injured.

There was an urgency because Cat was so tired and weak from hunger, and yet she nervously paced back and forth across the branch on which she was perched.

Enter Ethan Bartlett - After calling the local fire departments, animal control, and even 911 to plead for someone to help, all of whom offered zero assistance or advice, I talked with my friend, Corby Faye, at Flip Clean Gutters, who suggested, “Call a tree service or an arborist.” Of course, I thought! We have used Bartlett Trees to take good care of all the plants in our yard for years now. I thought it was a long shot, but I rang Ethan up and he was more than happy to offer a solution! Moreover, I could tell he was genuinely concerned for our cat’s safety and felt the same urgency we did.

Since he was already working in the area, Ethan appeared on the scene in mere moments to assess the situation with our precariously perched feline. His bucket truck driver, Sina, was about an hour away. So, Ethan carefully planned what needed to be done before the trucks’ arrival. Many branches from neighboring trees had to be trimmed to make room for the truck, which has a huge folding arm attached to the top and a bucket for an operator to stand in while ascending into the tree canopy. Additionally, neighbors’ vehicles had to be moved out of the way in order for the truck to be maneuvered into the narrow driveway near the now infamous tree.

Once he arrived, the bucket truck driver, Sina, and another Bartlett tree expert/cat savior, Jessie, worked quickly to cut down all the higher branches so that the bucket arm could extend up high enough to reach Cat. It was amazing to watch it all come together, but even more heartwarming to sense how sincerely happy Ethan and his team were to be there, working to help save a young cats’ life and put our worried minds at ease!

Bartlett Tree Experts get an A+++ rating from us for going above and beyond the call of duty to help save a young cat from a life-threatening situation, with no expectation of reward or compensation. Ethan, Sina, and Jessie just wanted to do the right thing! That work ethic seems to permeate everything they do, both as arborists, and as human beings. We had already been 100% pleased with their service to our yard, and now this just adds to our admiration and loyalty.

We had concern for the health of a few of our trees. We contact Bartlett to diagnose and treat, if indicated. Both the arborist (Warner) and service technician (Greg) were very knowledgeable, helpful and informative. The specific issues were competently identified and treated. Both took the time to explain the issues and remedies and answered all my questions. Time will tell if they resolved our concerns, but we have confidence they will partner with us with genuine concern and professionalism. Appreciated.

Sina, Jack, always… Do an excellent Job. I have many very old, very large, oaks on my property. Mitchell (arborist) comes by once a year for several years to assess the health of my trees and suggest preventative maintenance. He has as well stepped in when a disaster occurs. Sina and Jack followed up with prescribed care with excellence.

I was very pleased with the work I had done at my property, tree trimming and 5 tree removals; the communication with all the staff was friendly and informative; beginning with communications with Warner. The work was done neatly with cleanup as well, extremely professional over the three days of service. I cannot remember all the names of the crew that helped but I do remember Greg, Sean and Tuweh who helped on the last day and if needed I will definitely hire Bartlett again. Top Notch service.

I’ve had a solid experience thus far with Bartlett. My team of Noah, Jack, and Greg today removed three dead trees, did significant pruning work on five others, and cleared the debris - all in four hours.

I’ve also been very impressed by the level of care from our arborist, Cole. He spent roughly two hours at our property when he first visited, listening to my concerns and putting together a thoughtful plan for treatment. I felt a significantly elevated level of care compared to other estimates/companies. Now… let’s see if we can get rid of the aphids this spring and summer!

Warner, Sean and Brennan did a phenomenal job with our trees. We live in a heavily wooded area and every year Warner comes out and advises me on how best to keep my trees healthy and storm proofed. He has great patience for my numerous questions and curiosity about the trees in my yard. It gives me great peace of mind that I know my trees are being looked after by experts. Sean and Brennan came out recently to trim a white oak and hollies in my yard. They were friendly, courteous, took their time with the job, did phenomenal work, and left my property tidy when they completed the job. I would highly recommend their services for anyone who's looking for the job to be done correctly and cleanly.

Bartlett has been my go-to tree (and pest control service) for 10+ years and Ive never been disappointed. It started with Ethan, and now Perry and Greg continue the honest, high-quality service. They come when they say, do what they say (and more), and dont pressure you with more and more services. Its all in writing, as a menu of stand alone choices, and they come evaluate for free. And they make sure the timing is right, so you dont waste your money on a treatment that will wash away or be less than optimal effectiveness.

Bartlett has been excellent doing our quarterly plant and tree maintenance for around 10 years. Their recent visit for significant trimming of several large trees went as usual: easy scheduling, clear understanding of work to be done, did that work very efficiently and getting our feedback along the way, and the end aesthetics were better than we’d thought possible. Professional and customer/focused throughout. Thanks to Cole for making and managing the arrangements and to Greg, Nosh and Jack for getting the job done!

Truly top notch service. Warner came and looked at our shrubs and recommended treatment and pruning to save them. We were afraid we would have to replace them. He was friendly, knowledgeable and just a pleasure to work with. Nick and Andrew pruned our shrubs. They look great and the guys did a wonderful job of cleaning everything up. These guys really care about doing the job right. Such a pleasure to find people who care and do great work.

We had a terrific experience with Perry, Tuweh, Jack and Sina. They completed a multipurpose visit to trim 6+ large bushes and small trees. The job also involved removing a broken branch laying on electric lines that Dominion would not work on. The results were excellent; including the trim work and the cleanup. We have worked with Bartlett for over 20 years. They keep our 80 foot loblolly pine healthy and safe. We are very pleased with Bartlett Tree Service. Have used for years. The men here today, Greg and Nick (I think), did a superb job and cleaned up the many limbs, etc. perfectly. They were friendly and capable - real pros.

Had Greg, Tuweh, and Jack out from Bartlett to trim and shape a massive holly that needed some love. Office called to verify good day for service. On that day Tuweh went over work to be done and asked if I had any questions. After service Greg showed off their work and discussed what they did, as well as future maintenance ideas. They left the yard as they originally found it, no clean up needed by me!

Noah, Greg, and Jack did an amazing job on thinning my trees! Not only are they thinned but so nicely shaped! I’ve seen other companies just lop off the top but these look gorgeous! I’d recommend Bartlett to anyone who cares about the health of their trees!

I have had great experiences with Bartlett Tree Service. This time they took down a giant Christmas tree that was leaning towards the house. It was in a tight spot. The crew was great and very professional. I can’t thank them enough.

Even though they did a great job in 2011, they couldn't return my call and e-mail from August 18, so I'd say they aren't interested in the business any longer. Sorry to hear that.

Humanitree removed some branches from a large tree in my front yard. They did a wonderful job and the clean up job they did was superb.
