Contractor reviews in Smithfield, Virginia

Built by Babb completed a full bathroom remodel of my master bathroom. The entire experience from start to finish was great. John was very responsive and easy to reach during the entire process for every single idea, thought, and question I had. This was the first time I had ever done something of this nature and I was entirely clueless; he was very patient and helpful in helping me get steered in the right direction for all of the decisions that had to be made. The quality of the workmanship from his team is top notch, from the drywall people to the people who make the countertops, to the tile layers and more. His entire team was also very friendly and personable. Two weeks after the process was complete I contacted John for a minor issue with the shower and he sent a team member over to fix it the very next day no questions asked. That means a whole lot to me when a company cares that much about their work they make it right even after that final payment has been made. Wonderful experience and my bathroom is beautiful and everything I could have wanted. Definitely calling them when I'm ready for my next project.

This is Roxanne. Built By Babb came to our house this week and tore off the stairs on our front porch and replaced them in just under 4 hours. They were EXCELLENT, professional, personable, efficient, and timely for a fair price. They cleaned up every last scrap of material and hauled it off. I would recommend John and his crew again and again. Any time I need them they are always available and do a fantastic job!

We moved into a home that has two outdated and unsafe bathrooms. I happened to read a few comments on a Facebook site that recommended the contractor, Built by Babb. Boy, did I hit the jackpot!

Johnny Babb responded quickly to my call, and he came to my house that week to advise me and to price the job. The total job included bathroom makeovers and new kitchen countertops. The work was done within in a month, and the results are beautiful! The best part is that the final price matched the estimate!

Also, I can’t say enough about the skilled workers. Each worker took time to make everything exactly right, and I could tell that they value excellence.

Built by Babb did such and amazing job on ceiling damage we had around our fireplace and then come to find out roof needed to be replaced which probably needed after being in our house for 27 years. Johnny and his crew replaced our roof also. We highly highly recommended Built by Babb. We will be utilizing him in near future.

We just had Built by Babb replace the windows and doors in our sunroom. Johnny and his crew did a wonderful job and I highly recommend them. Johnny is great to work with and really cares about his clients. He is a man of his word and wants nothing more than satisfied customers. He is very reliable and he won’t disappoint.

We hired John to remodel our master bathroom. We are very pleased with the final product. Johns crew showed up everyday on time. They were very polite and professional. I would give him a 10 out of 10 rating. We have recommended him to several of our neighbors and will hire him for future home improvements

Very pleased with the quality of work that Built by Babb did at our house. We had a roof, gutters and facia trim replaced. They also did several repairs that were necessary to the roof deck. Pricing was reasonable and competitive. We would definitely recommend this company!

I was in need of some home repairs for the sale of my house. John came promptly to look at the job, gave me a fair estimate for the work, and performed the work in a quality and timely manner. I highly recommend Built By Babb!

I was very impressed with the quality and service provided by Babb and his team! This was a major project for us, and Built by Babb made sure that we got what we wanted at a price that we could afford. I was very anxious about the project to begin with, just due to the size and budget, but Babb broke it all down in a way that made me feel comfortable with how things would work. When anything looked like it might be about to deviate from the desired outcome, Babb was quick to communicate and adjust to ensure that we were happy with the final product. I will definitely be using him again for the many projects I have planned for the future!

Built By Babb just recently completed my Masterbath room refurbishment. I couldn't be happier with the quality of work, professionalism, attention to details, and responsiveness was WAY ABOVE PAR throughout the whole process. John and his team explained everything, on schedule, communicated and kept me informed, always available even on weekends to answer any questions I had. Each member of John's team are highly skilled and uses precision in every aspect. If you want quality work with high quality materials and a professional job done, use/hire this company. I will use for all my other home projects. Built By Babb is the ABSOLUTE BEST! THANK YOU John and Team!

Can’t say enough great things about this company. Consulted me through a water heater issue, never had to come out but spent their time on the phone and calling connections to make sure I was taken care of. Probably saved me thousands if I had to call a large franchise.

John is amazing. He communicates very well and is always straightforward and honest. He even took care of a busted pipe in my wall and completely redid all of the drywall and paint at no cost to me. Things always go wrong when doing a home remodel but it’s all about how it’s handled by the contractor and John was A plus.

Not to mention the quality. My God, the quality is amazing. The tile work and the shower door just feel wonderful. Not that cheap “Home Depot” feeling.
Recommend to anyone doing a home remodel.

We had our shower replaced and the finished product is absolutely gorgeous. The guys were professional, on time, and they clean up after themselves. We are thrilled. Call John Babb and you will not be sorry.

Had our living room remodeled. Existing brick fireplace was removed and "0" clearance fireplace installed with a stone face. Complete face lift with windows, doors, lighting and flooring. Steps upstairs were rebuilt. This gave us a lot of more room. structural repairs were made also. These guys did a precision job to make sure everything was level and square. This was challenging because my house was built in the 40's. I selected a couple before and after photos from the same angle.

I found damage on my roof, Built By Babb contractor showed the damage underneath my shingles, walked me through pre and post corrections. Price was good, quality was outstanding. Will have the company redo our kitchen floors.

Had shutters repaired by Babbs and work was done with a Spirit of Excellence. The workers are kind and trustworthy. After work was completed area was cleaned and all items placed back. I would definitely recommend BABB'S for any job and no job is to small or to large.

Excellent Businessman and person! Cant stress this enough. John and his crew were outstanding. He came in and added a butlers pantry for us as well as reworked some of our existing kitchen and added a coffee bar. His quality and price cant be matched. If you are looking for any work to be done, please give him a call, you wont be disappointed!

I don't have the before pics but here's what it looks like afterwards.

Built by Babb handled the complete restoration of a 100 year old home for us. It was a complex and lengthy project - perhaps the biggest project the company has handled. The house was deteriorated, required a complete re-wire and re-plumb, plaster wall and masonry repairs, bath and kitchen renovation, floor repair and refinishing, a new roof, landscaping work and paint throughout. The outcome was outstanding. Subcontractors were skilled and efficient, particularly the carpenters, who restored termite damage and replicated olden style interior trim. John Babb was available, honest, extremely knowledgeable about all facets of construction and design, and a perfectionist as to quality. An absolute pleasure to undertake a project with this man and his team. Our neighbors and family have since hired the company for work on nearby houses. I highly recommend this unique and professional company!

Built by Babb did an excellent job renovating a 60-year-old rental house we own that had fallen into disrepair. John was very communicative and kept me posted at every step along the way. The final result was a beautiful, total makeover that the tenants love!

Met John and his team when our SBA loan required a licensed contractor to work our project. To say he saved us is an understatement. He converted a Title Loans facility into a beautiful bakery and made my wife’s dream a reality! Great work, timely and on budget! Thanks Built by Babb for being amazing human beings and supporting this small business! Smallcakes Smithfield will partner with this world class team anytime!
