I switched from a large one-size-fits-all lawncare company to New Earth Landscaping three years ago and I am so pleased that I did. Jon and his crew are professional and knowlegable, and are careful to assess each lawn individually and offer specific recommendations. They are also incredibly responsive to questions and concerns. And all for a very competitive cost. I definitely recommend them!

New Earth is great! What we love is New Earth isn't looking at your yard as a project to get done for just one year. They look at your yard as a long term project. They want your yard to be healthy and growing for years to come. Their team also built a retaining wall for us that was done quickly, with excellence, and at a cost we found reasonable. Jon doesn’t just cut grass. He treats your lawn with great organic products and provides great communication in the form of weekly emails and other blasts, coaching clients and describing the reasons behind his decisions.
Jon will not roll a lawnmower over your lawn just to make a quick dollar. If it’s too wet to avoid surface damage or the Summer heat has slowed growth, Jon will inspect and drive on.
When my wife and I bought our house, the lawn was suffering from serious neglect. In just about two years now, Jon has been able to bring it back to life and has completed a landscaping project that breathed new life into our back yard.

Jon and crew continue to give outstanding service with dedication and skill. Specifically, they have overcome extensive damage caused by a major construction project- and that was two 24 inch gas pipelines that completely cut through the entire property! Our turf is now lush and even.
A special thanks to Jon for a very generous contribution to the church of gas powered equipment. With a volunteer work force, these pieces have made our own grounds maintenance a much more efficient and manageable issue.

Jon is professional and very knowledgeable about the weeds/plants in my yard. He was able to come up with a plan within my budget to tackle my backyard and to help me make it usable again! He cares about the plants and wildlife that are native to our area by using safe products to control the weeds. He also installed a drainage solution and retaining wall for my side yard. I will continue to work with him to make my yard beautiful!

Jon and the New Earth Landscaping team were amazing from start to finish. He communicated well, showed up promptly to provide a thorough estimate that was a fraction of the cost of others we had received, and followed through exactly as he had promised. The team's work freshened up our yard with new plants and mulch and Jon even came back later in the season to provide weed control without additional cost. WOW! What a great experience we had with Jon and New Earth Landscaping. Our backyard needs a LOT of love, and Jon has been integral in making that happen. We have a sloping, shaded backyard with lots of weeds, overgrowth, and a rock wall that has been there since the dawn of time. We were overwhelmed trying to even think of ideas to make it better. We also have two small children and very little spare time to work on it also. Jon did a great consultation with us where he suggested some ideas, and followed up quickly with a quote via email. The quote was beyond reasonable and we scheduled the work.

Jon sprayed the backyard to kill off the weeds (not pictured but let me tell you what a difference THAT made) and then came back to lay down mulch, prune some plants, and tidy up the rock wall (pictured- before on top, after on the bottom). We are enjoying our backyard for the first time since we bought the house. We are looking forward to continuing to work with New Earth Landscaping for future plantings and projects.

I have been extremely satisfied with New Earth Landscaping. Jon and his team are the best landscapers in our area. I had several challenges with my lawn for about 2 years before working with Jon and New Earth Landscaping.

My lawn was suffering mainly because I just thought about the basics (seed, fertilize, water). But after researching and hiring Jon and his team he not only brought the best out of our lawn and landscaping needs, but he also provided me with the education a detailed breakdown on my landscaping needs to help me ensure I was doing my part to make my property look its best. After 2 very short years my property looks amazing. Very happy we made the choice to bring Jon on as our landscaper.

Jon also assisted with drainage issues I was having which also has greatly improved water travel and less challenges with excess water in our backyard area.

Jon, and the New Earth team have been great! I've used them for 4 years now. What I appreciate the most is that he will not put the mowers in your yard if he thinks it will damaged the turf. He will forgo collecting the service fee that week if he does not think your grass is ready to be cut, or if running the mowers will damage the turf. I probably save $150-200 a season over a company that just charges a flat, per season, rate.

Jon likes to send out lawn and landscaping tips via email and links to videos that he publishes himself. his tips and tricks are very useful.

**Update - 8 years after starting service, I wouldn't change a thing.

Jon and the ENTIRE New Earth Landscaping team have done an outstanding job bringing our yard to life. We purchased in 2020 and the lawn was a mini jungle. It is now lush and thick green grass and only getting better! Weeds and bugs are controlled and now maintenance is a lot easier! Fully organic and pet safe ingredients do actually work! I have not applied a single thing from Home Depot since Jon took over, and it is totally worth it! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! Customer service is outstanding too. Jon's email updates are highly informative. When you first get a walk through and he names every piece of vegetation in your yard and how it interacts with the ecosystem, you know you got the right team!! You will NOT regret having Jon and the New Earth Team on your side.

New Earth has been our go to expert when it comes to landscaping. Jon and his team have done amazing things with our yard that has been neglected for a year from a previous owner. Recently we had them plant some new flowers and relocate some bushes and arbivores from the front to the back.

New Earth Landscaping did a great job cleaning up the backyard of a former rental townhouse we bought, restoring the grass and removing an unwanted volunteer tree from our backyard and installing a pair of holly bushes, dividing a day lily, and trimming the hedges in the front and side of our house. Our house looks great now!

Update August 2025: In addition to his landscaping work, Jon is our regular lawn care service provider and his work has been excellent. He contacts us weekly on the status of his planned service schedule, updates us on our lawn, and provides feedback on the weather and what to expect from our lawn. New Earth is the best lawn care provider we have ever used! You'd be lucky to get him.

Update October 2024: Jon and his team pulled the old, overgrown front beds out and replaced them with wonderful flowers and sod in some areas. It has completely changed the view and "mood" of our front area lightening it up and balancing the area. Simply top shelf work. Jon has our highest recommendation without reservation.

Outstanding! Jon and his team worked a near miracle on the lower part of our yard. He listened to our vision, provided excellent advice on the solutions, and clearly understood our vision. His team was punctual, turned the vision into reality, and Jon followed-up after the work. We are so happy with the results, we'll be asking Jon to work the same near miracle on our front gardens in the Fall.

Jon and his crew quickly cleaned up several years of neglect in our yard. I can see my patio again! I’m looking forward to working with him during the coming year to replant with native plants.

Turns out lawn care is much more multi-faceted than “how much do you charge to mow my grass.” Jon and his team do so much more. They cared for my lawn and developed it into something I was proud of. Mowing height and frequency are important, but combine that with his advice on watering, weeding, natural treatments, shrubs, trees, runoff control, etc I would not recommend any better in the DMV.

The Kings Park Civic Association has been a satisfied customer for almost 10 years. New Earth Landscaping maintains the common areas in our subdivision, including lawn care, fertilizer applications, leaf removal and maintenance of the plants in the common area. Our maintenance is on a schedule which is communicated via an informative newsletter. This year, we have added more planting and beautification projects to our budget. We’re very happy with New Earth’s eagerness to undertake this additional work, which is being done for a reasonable cost.

Jon and his crew did an excellent job! Very knowledgeable and professional. They took extra care to make our garden look refreshed. On top of that they brought in our trash bin after it got picked up! Highly recommend going with New Earth. Fair pricing and doesn't try to upsell you on anything. 10/10 service!

Jon Runger and New Earth Landscaping are the epitome of professionalism. He is not merely a grass cutter. He is a master of his trade who constantly researches and shares what he learns with his customers about weather effects, specific plant/grass needs, and the reason behind his methods. He is utterly transparent about the work he does and costs incurred. Jon treats my lawn as if it were his own. I have never seen the level of communication, explanation, and proactive service that Jon provides by any other company or person. I mean that literally—absolutely no one holds a candle to his excellent customer service. I went through two other lawn service companies before I found New Earth Landscaping. When I had my main sewer line break and my yard was destroyed, I asked Jon to put in a pollinator garden. He did an amazing job! It brings me joy everyday and many people compliment it as they walk by. I am very grateful to have found him and to have him as my neighbor.
