A1 was quick to get someone out to the house the next day. We had James as our tech and he was quick to diagnosis our problem. He quickly got on the phone to order the correct parts. Upon receiving the parts, he was at our house at 7 a.m. to start working. He was such a professional and true to his word. I would ask for him every time I have an HVAC problem.

Great service and quickly repaired. Mr Keon was punctual, polite, and did his job to perfection. I will request him again in the future.

After reading multiple reviews for A1 American, I was confident that this was a company that I could trust for my AC repairs. It had frozen up on us overnight so the next morning I called and a Technician was promptly dispatched to trouble shoot. The outcome seemed simple enough, "clean the unit and add 2 pounds of freon". I was surprised at the quoted price ($1000.00) but what do I know about AC units, nothing.. so I agreed. He also suggested a new unit as our unit was older and it was only a matter of time before it had to be replaced, he said that could cost in upwards of $10,000. ( OUCH!!, isn't that always the case) The Technician was out the next day or so to complete the agreed upon service. That night, we slept like a baby. The house was nice and cold and the AC Unit was working just fine. We were happy we dodged a bullet as the summer heat was quickly approaching. Fast forward to the next day.. I noticed the house was warming up some but chalked it up to the heat of the day so I didn't pay close attention to the thermostat. That night, our system froze up again, woke up to a warm house. We immediately called the A1-American Tech to see if he could come take a look at it again. Meanwhile we had another Tech come look at our unit (not from A-1) he ran some tests (again, have no idea what they did) and found a pin hole leak in the system. He explained further that he could drain the remaining freon, (just paid $600.00 for that stuff) fix the leak and fill er up again, and yes, pay for freon again. He explained further that the unit was sparkling clean (paid $400.00 for that) but the A1 tech should have checked for leaks first thing before adding the freon. He suggested having a new unit installed as our system was at the point where we would just be dumping money into it every year. Fast forward to the visit from the A1-Tech. We explained to him what the "other" tech had said and asked if we decided to have a new unit installed, could we receive a discount since we just spent $1000.00 2 days prior. He agreed and worked up a price. He quoted us $10,000 (yes, that is with the $1000.00 off) for the exact same type of unit we had (did not offer any other type of system) after he told us what a piece of crap that type of unit was. I believe it was Goodman. My husband and I thought it would be best to get a second quote so we called another AC repair company. They came out, looked over the system and quoted us the same price ($10K) for a Bosch unit. We agreed. The new unit has not been installed as this all happened very recently (last weekend). We were extremely disappointed that we paid the $1000.00 for absolutely nothing but chalked it up as a very expensive life lesson. Much to my surprise, I received a phone call from A1-American a few days later, following up on the service call. I thought that was a nice touch. I explained briefly what happened and stressed the disappointment in the loss of money, and the response I received was, "at least your getting a new system". (awkward). Phone call ended. I am not sure what I expected, maybe a partial refund, a sorry that happened, or let me look into this for you... Nope.. Really didn't seem to care that they lost a potential life time customer. They had a great opportunity to make this right but didn't. They got their money.. and my house is still HOT!! Hope this helps someone out there make up their mind on what company to go with and how you spend those hard earned dollars.. Best of luck!
