Solar Energy Company reviews in Virginia Beach, Virginia
-
Convert Solar installed a 10 kW residential rooftop solar system for us in Charlottesville a little over a year ago, and we're very pleased with how things have been going. Installation was uneventful, and Convert Solar worked with Dominion Energy to get our system turned on and operating seamlessly. Convert Solar was quick to notice and address a hardware issue to get us back online, generating more electricity than we normally use, so we get energy credits or can sell the overproduction to Dominion. We like the fact that the system was installed by the same company that sold us the system, and we have the confidence that Convert Solar will be there to maintain the system into the future. We heartily recommend Convert Solar as a reliable renewable energy partner.

We got panels in 2020 and have been thrilled with them and Convert Solar ever since. Professional crew, clean wire and panel placement, fast service. Highly recommend!

Initial representative gave an very thorough explanation of why my hose was suitable for solar and what I would need. Installers were great and always on time for work promised. I could not have asked for better serice and product has more than met my expectations.

Convert Solar epitomizes everything you’re looking for in a solar company. They were never too ‘pushy’ unlike other macro installers during my initial Q&A with them. They swiftly answered any of my questions. They adapted to any personal requests I made regarding type of panel, amount, etc. And the whole install process was smooth and easy for me. I even had a microinverter that went bad within the first few months of use, and they were out the next day after it went out to replace it. I had no idea until they showed up?! If I could do it again, I would 100% install with Convert Solar without hesitation.

I have been w convert solar in one of my houses for almost 5 years and I never had any issues w them. Great customer service…
On my another home recently/unfortunately I used Ion solar and has been nothing but headache…
I won’t recommend Ion solar to nobody,
But I will recommend Convert Solar! -
Five stars! Jeremy worked through all of my questions and concerns and gave me clear and competitive pricing. The work crew did a fantastic job, quickly. One year later, everything is still going great!

The invoices they send are not itemized thus unable to tell what each payment is actually for. They expire as soon as you pay them so no way to actually look back and confirm what you have paid and what the bill was actually for. Getting information re increases in pricing after the original quote and bill was via email with the sales rep who was difficult to contact. He estimated numbers and then said “let’s just say $2000”. I know they have been busy with the deadline approaching for the tax break, but getting updates about timing and pricing for roof repair, critter guards required many phone calls and as stated, vague. The staff were always polite and stated they would do everything they could to help, but replies were slow, few and vague. I plan on calling them to get an itemized review of all they have charged me for to ensure it is accurate as I am unable to determine that from the payments I have made to them as no itemized invoices are available to me.
12/3 update as I changed my review to 5 stars. Alexa called me when she saw the above review. She listened to my concerns, suggested ways they could improve communication, and asked that I send her the communications I considered vague, and she then rectified the communications with itemized receipts, and issued the updated bill! She was great! And Dylan my sales rep was great when you could get hold of him…Alexa said they had some 700 installations in these last 3 months of the year due to the tax credit expiring this year so bravo Convert for getting us all solarized! -
Fantastic working through the process. It was really easy. The install was super fast the crew was great and even more accommodating.
The sales were easy and not pushy at all explained everything in simple terms. Made sure we had what we needed and didn’t try to upsell zero pressure fantastic all around.
When I move if they cover the area I move to I will utilize them again if I need a solar installation. The process was great and the over all new electric bill is great can’t complain about that. -
Convert Solar has a great analysis and installation process. Each step of the way the are there with helpful tips to make the conversion to solar relatively easy. It's great to see those electric bills drop to a very low level!

We had Convert Solar install our residential rooftop array after Solar United Neighbors cooperative selected them as the vendor for our neighborhood's project. They were professional and responsive throughout the process. We're very happy with the outcome.

Great company! They really work with you to make sure you will get what you want. Good communication. Honest and open. We have our solar panels for three years now and they work great.

I’ve got a fantastic setup thanks to Convert Solar. I originally had a door-to-door solar company pitch to me and it just felt waayyy too expensive for a half sized system. So I shopped around and a coworker recommended Convert Solar. Never been happier from start to finish. I’ve had my system for 6months now and it’s been awesome to see the production and savings. The team at CS is personable, professional, and easy to work with.
After my install, unfortunately I noticed a leak in my roof from heavy rain. Sucks but these things happen, can’t be perfect all the time. What shows that CS is the top solar company in the Virginia Beach area is they had no issue coming out to inspect, locate, and patch the leak ASAP. Even reached out to me after the next heavy rain to verify my house is water tight again.
If I ever need solar in the future I will only use Convert Solar. Thanks! -
We contracted with Covert Solar to have a solar system installed on our home. Over all we are satisfied with the system and function.
The low score is due to two major criticisms. First, The credit union customer service ignors any requests and payments are difficult to make.
Second, Covert Solar took our money and… haven’t heard from them since. Not one phone call and never responded to installation complaints.
The panel installers were not careful with the installation, scratching paint off the panels which is very noticeable from the ground. One pair of electricians were very sloppy and had to come back to neaten up their work.
We feel like we were wooed for the sale and abandoned once the contractors finished their work.
We do enjoy the fact that Our electric bill is usually under $10/ month. -
Convert was easy to work with and installed a great system. During the design review, they identified an alternative configuration that made for a cleaner appearance while hitting the same generation numbers. Setup and activation of the system and associated apps was straightforward, and I'm loving my new electric bill.

Working with Convert Solar was a great experience. All of their staff from sales to installation was very professional and knowledgeable. They were always on time and willing to help with any questions we had.

I met with Sam from Gladius Solar and he put together a plan to help me get a new roof, solar and explain my 2024 tax credit incentive. In November of 2024, I received a new roof and then the Convert Solar team installed the solar panels. I was very pleased at each install team as they were efficient and made sure my property was cleaned up during their visit. I then started to see the benefits of solar happen over the last 3 months to where I'm seeing about a $20 charge each month now and it continues to go down from Dominion Energy. It's work perfectly and I received my tax credit. Everything Sam stated happened!! Truly happy with this decision to go solar!!

I signed up for solar power with Convert Solar after I got my house. Electric bills during the summer were high because of the AC. I thought about how wanted to make the summer sun help cover for the cost of the AC. My neighbors just had their system installed and put me in touch with Convert Solar. It was incredibly helpful to have and has significantly reduced my electric bill.

We had our system installed in November 2024, operational right before the holidays. Everything, from sales to installation was done with care and professionalism. Any questions we had were answered immediately. We love the system, my husband loves to watch what we produce. We highly recommend Convert Solar.

I have been talking with Convert Solar for over a year before recently deciding to go ahead and install. My sales rep Brian was patient and knowledgeable, walked me through the process, and answered all of my questions. He kept in contact with me periodically (at my request) until I was ready to make the decision to go solar. Install was quick and well done. The tech explained how the system would work once the application was approved and the go ahead to turn on was complete. The solar industry is rife with questionable sales gimmicks but Convert Solar is a reputable company and I would highly recommend talking to them if you are interested in installing.

We live in Blue Ridge Mountains near Ferrum, Virginia (about 2000 ft elevation) and had Convert Solar install a system for us about a year ago to qualify for the energy tax credits before they disappear. We have a 1970s brick ranch type house (about 3200 sq ft) that didn't have a lot of geographic South facing exposure but our garage had some good exposure. Our electric bills started to hit $400-$500 a month in the winter and I always said if I could get solar at a 10-year pay back rate I would do it. We did a grid linked system so we sell back to AEP vs getting an expensive battery set up. The first few months we still had a bill because it was winter when we started up, but then we started producing more then we used and banked the access with AEP . Our bill is now less then $10 per month for the connection fees. We have a Honda Clarity Plug in hybrid car that we charge and a Ford Lightning truck EV that we charge. The only gas we buy is an occasional 7 gallons to fill the Clarity. We have a lot of power outages here on the mountain and now we can use our Ford Lightning for power when the power goes out. Pretty sweet set up. We came on line first of Nov 2024. Jan 2025 was rough! First winter of course no kwhs in the bank. This winter so far we have the meter in reverse -1,514 kWh Recovered and hopefully will keep adding throughout mid December like last year. Monthly Distribution Services $7.96 and Local Consumers Tax $1.50 for a total of $9.46. Since we started banking in March we have consistently averaged about $100 per week worth of power. At $100/week we are right on track for less than a 10-year pay back and the cost of the system also included new 50-year roofing on both the garage and the house. The amazing thing is we are covering are two electric vehicles as well as our heating, cooling and electrical needs.

From beginning to end, the process has been smooth so far! Our solar panels are sleek, beautiful, and blend right into the roof (in my opinion). They have answered all of our questions quickly and efficiently. We are so excited to begin our solar journey! I would recommend this company to everyone! The installers were prompt, communicated efficiently, and worked quickly and well together. There was no down time, and I was amazed at how quickly they were installed! Donn (the salesman) was very knowledgeable, kind, and forthright. He came prepared with all of our information, he allowed me to ask questions until I was satisfied with the answers, and he gave us all of our options while we chose which option worked best for us. He's the best, and xPlore Solar/Convert Solar is blessed to have him working for them!
