Our outdated kitchen was brought up to date beautifully. We appreciated the attention to detail and coordination of services we received from A Kitchen that Works. The team worked to ensure that we were back in our kitchen in record time and very close to our original cost estimate.

AKTW helped us totally redesign our master bathroom. Working with Molly and Clive, as well as their supporting trade partners, was great! Their vast knowledge, professional work ethic, attention to detail, thorough communication, and quality standards, made the entire experience very enjoyable and as stress-free as possible. We couldn't be happier with the end result. Our master went from a bland, dated and inefficient space to a warm, zen-like retreat with thoughtful design elements throughout. We enthusiastically recommend AKTW, and most likely will be using their services again.

McCabe By Design fit our needs for an ensuite bathroom remodel oh so well! Molly took our small space and made it into the best it could be, with fine, eco-friendly materials and age-in-place details. Construction is on-going so pictures will be added later!

Can't say enough wonderful things about A Kitchen That Works. Molly is so thoughtful and worked hard to tailor my project to my needs and budget. Renovations can seem so daunting, and she has managed every aspect of it, down to the minutest detail.

My bathroom remodel was in excellent hands with A Kitchen That Works. Molly and her crew of skilled professionals made my dream-bath come true.
I love the out of doors and wanted to bring that look inside. The granite, tiles and river rock accent combined with the dark cherry wood has given the room a warm and earth-grounding ambiance. The materials, design, and workmanship exceeded my dreams. Starting my day in this grand style inspires me to greet the day with high expectations and a joyous outlook. I will use them for my future projects!

Saved me time & money on lighting project -- and I do mean LOTS of time and money!

Kitchen (almost) remodel was a huge success. Molly helped us buy all the correct appliances. We had already purchased a refrigerator that was not returnable. We donated the refrigerator to a non-profit but we had to buy another refrigerator with Molly's recommendations. This one fit perfectly. I wished we had called her first. Would have save over $2,000 right away.

We used A Kitchen That Works for a whole house remodel. Molly was able to guide us in a systematic and organized way, especially with selecting the myriad appliances, fixtures, tiles etc, that can be quite overwhelming. Additionally, this was executed during the height of Covid, with all of the resulting supply chain issues, including some items that were discontinued or not available. Throughout it all, Molly and Clive were open and communicative and managed our expectations with patience and grace. She worked diligently to handle all of the complexities and with the highest ethical standards. We have recently moved back in and are thrilled to be living in such a “dream” space. We would use them again for future projects.

Cooking has always been a central focus in our home, and the harmony was diminished by our outdated and poorly designed kitchen. Thanks to Molly and A Kitchen That Works LLC, our family of cooks has been inspired again to create meals that bring family and friends together for unforgettable dining experiences.

I might also add that Molly always goes above and beyond. We recently had a plumbing emergency due to our own oversight and could not make it back to the house to deal with the issue. Not only did Molly locate someone to handle the problem, but she met the service tech at our house and cleaned up the mess! NOW, THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!

You'll be doing yourselves a favor of the highest magnitude by inviting A Kitchen That Works into your home.

After hearing a presentation by Molly McCabe (AKTW), a few years ago, when it came to considering our own remodel there was no question who to hire. Known for coming in on or below budget Molly met that criteria. It's clear she knows her stuff and for those who think it's easy handling not only different tradespeople, but personalities, particularly being in a 'man's world', she ran a tight but fair ship and all the workers I talked to privately expressed their admiration for her work.

As I sit here and look at all the details in one part of our now open concept downstairs, it's a package that all works: placement of windows, lighting, etc as well as choices of trim. doors, etc. And though ultimately all the choices were ours, she nudged us in areas to find the most practical and aesthetically pleasing elements. I can honestly say, each morning when we enter this space, it's a beautiful sanctuary.

We hired Molly to design and oversee a remodel of our kitchen, laundry room and master bathroom. We had this house built 30 years ago so an update was due. Other than knowing we would have to work within the existing footprint for all three, we didn't have a lot of preconceived notions. Molly thoroughly walked us through the design and decision process and gently guided us past any bad decisions we might make. She is keenly focused on design that will allow one to gracefully and safely live in the space as we grow older. We are very happy with the completed project, we have more storage, better lighting, much nicer finishes and usability than we had previously all in the exact same space. Guests have been very impressed with the transformation. Whether we will remain here for five years or twenty-five we feel we can do so comfortably and safely and that's a great feeling.

We worked with Molly on designing our dream kitchen/bath remodel for 18 months. We made all of the design decisions; we ordered appliances (which are now in our garage); we purchased countertops. Our construction was to start in 5 months. Out of nowhere, Molly sent us an email stating that they could no longer do our construction. She has never talked to us about why--just a shocking email. We can only assume she overcommitted and we paid the price. This has left us scrambling to find a more reputable firm to do our construction including trying to transfer all of the design decisions and knowledge from over 18 months.

A Kitchen That Works was under contract to bill us each month. Instead, they waited 4.5 months and then expected thousands of dollars immediately despite us needing to sell investments. Molly insisted we should have paid her at our "in person" meeting but that meeting was between Molly and subcontractors when I was not home and she made no mention of payment.

Additionally, when we bought our countertops Molly charged us $29,000 but we later found that she only paid the fabricator $17,000 and told us nothing about the difference. She returned the funds only when the fabricator told us how much of our money she was holding. ZERO financial transparency.

A Kitchen That Works has a strong online presence and lots of glowing reviews from years ago. Don't be deceived.

Molly has a great eye for detail and as a Contractor we really appreciate her organization and thoroughness. Due to her thorough plans, we are able to provide our clients with Real cost estimates/bids.

A couple of years ago when we started talking about doing a remodel, discussing it with my partner, I suggested talking to Molly. I’d heard her give a presentation and was so impressed that we decided to reach out to her. Our first criteria was to have both a designer and contractor; someone who would oversee the entire operation as we had neither the experience or desire to tackle that on our own.

Molly had given us referrals who all gave her a glowing report: on budget, on time and leaving them with a house they loved. The pandemic had added some wrinkles to the plan as the supply chain and fewer skilled workers created some delays. That said, Molly made it happen; on time and on budget and also leaving us with a wonderful home we’re now enjoying.

When we bought our house in 2020, we knew one of the first big projects we wanted to take on was a kitchen remodel. The kitchen was dated, small, and hidden behind walls. Absolutely no fun to cook in. A google search brought us to A Kitchen That Works, and Molly. After an extended phone consultation, and then an in-person meeting. The decision to work with Molly was an easy one. She was very knowledgable, and easy to talk to.

We completed the initial design and planning stages in the Winter of 2021. Expectations and schedule were set from the get-go. We knew exactly what needed to be done (by us and her) and when. Molly is so in-tune with the industry…when she heard cabinet prices were going to be increased, she let us know immediately, and we were able to jump on ordering before it happened.

Construction began in March of 2022 and was completed in June 2022. We were living in the house during construction (my husband working from home). The job site was left tidy each day. Molly has a great collection of sub contractors she works with, each one equally knowledgeable and as impeccable as her. And trust me, the poor electricians were really put to the test at our house!

We only had a few small delays, neither of which were Molly’s fault (a pandemic can definitely make things difficult). But, communication was clear, and we always knew what and why something was (or wasn’t) occurring.

I would absolutely work with Molly again and recommend her to anyone. She is not only an amazing designer and general contractor, but an all around good person. I will not hesitate to call her for our next remodel project. Her and Clive are now on our Holiday card list, whether they like it or not!

We worked with Molly McCabe of McCabe By Design (formerly a Kitchen that Works) on our kitchen and dining room remodel. It was a complete transformation – all new cabinets, flooring, appliances, fixtures, and trims. The design process was enjoyable, and she factored in our needs/wants and added suggestions to improve the project that we would never have thought of on our own. She provided guidance on selecting materials that was thoughtful and in-line with our style. Molly was mindful of our budget throughout the process and was skilled at making some minor changes to the design that didn’t affect, and sometimes improved, the overall look of the project, while saving some money. Communication was excellent – throughout the entire project, we were kept updated on timelines and knew what to expect from contractors at each phase. We are extremely happy with our new kitchen and dining room and would highly recommend McCabe by Design.

I had the pleasure of doing a kitchen remodel with Molly McCabe and am very pleased with the results.

When I bought my house in 2021, I knew the kitchen would need a major update. It was dilapidated, dark and dysfunctional. I hired Molly to do a brief design consultation. She agreed with my assessment of the space and listened carefully as I explained what I was hoping to do. She made several excellent suggestions which were later incorporated into the design. I was impressed with her depth of experience and design sensibility.

After talking with other local designers and contractors, I chose Molly to do the design for my new kitchen. I found her easy to work with and the process felt like a true collaboration. She addressed all my must have features and most everything on my wish list. When executed, the design fit exactly into the modest space (14 feet by 14 feet), provided ample storage, improved workflow and efficiency, was well lit, and was beautiful to look at. And to top it all off, the design work came in under budget.

I recommend McCabe by Design without hesitation. Molly knows her stuff and produces superb results.
