Electrical reviews in Seattle, Washington

When I decided to install Solar Power on a building I was building on my property, I got several bids. A&R Solar was not the lowest bid, but I suspect that they were the lowest cost at the end of the project. Every aspect of the job was included in the bid. They scoped the location, made all the arrangements with my utility, talked through the pros and cons of battery storage on site, procured all the equipment and the system was working - producing power to the utility - on the date they had promised. Then, they determined that my electrical contractor had supplied equipment that they had scoped - so they gave me money back. The project management was great, the installation was quick and easy. The best part was their communication throughout the project. I always knew what was happening - no surprises. That is substantially different than my other contractors, and a very pleasant bonus.

A&R Solar were amazing. A different company installed our panels years ago. There was an issue with the panels, and the other company refused to come out to fix a problem, even though the panels were still under warranty. A&R Solar took on the job and were terrific. They problem solved and were solution oriented. It took a while to diagnose and fix the problem, but I am so grateful that they kept at it. Mark Anderson showed me how to monitor the panels with an app, which was not available when we originally had the panels installed. Mark kept us updated and never forgot about us. I would highly recommend this company and can't say enough good things about them.

I recently had a 20 KW solar installation at my house from A&R Solar. My experience was outstanding from beginning to end. Steve, my sales and design consultant, was very knowledgeable and answered many questions to help me design a system that was right for me. He had a no pressure approach and let me consider a lot of different options, and came out to do detailed analysis on my house and expected efficiency based on roof, tree cover, etc, which let me do detailed cost/benefit calculations. They provided an estimate which was very competitively priced. Every promised appointment or email was on time and professional. The installers were top notch, and amazingly fast, and helpful to answer all the questions I had. Connor went above and beyond helping with a few additional requests during the install like helping me set up an energy monitoring system. They also have a referral bonus which is nice as I saw the work they did for a friend. I am looking forward to the benefits of the solar installation for the next 25+ years.

I have been exploring solar and a battery backup system for the last month, as I have just replaced my roof and now would be the time to do something, ideally before the end of the year. I initially filled out a form through Tesla for a Powerwall + solar, which connected me with A&R as the local installer. I waited for a call/email, and nothing. I've since called, left voicemails, emailed, and filled out A&Rs online form multiple times, and cannot get ahold of anyone here. I've now been waiting for weeks to sign with another solar company that would use a different setup (REC420AA Pure 2 panels, enphase converters, FranklinWH batteries), but have been holding out in hopes that I could at least talk to someone at A&R about a Tesla system.
And then it hit me today - If I'm having this much trouble getting ahold of them to spend $75k, how much trouble am I going to have when I need support or warranty work fixed. Go elsewhere. You might save yourself some major headaches down the road. -
We had our system installed by A&R end of April. Was originally scheduled for March. We had 0 communication from them until 3 hours before they showed up to install. Of course working from home, that required quickly re-arranging the next 3 days to accomadate their lack of communication. Install guys were great and thankfully did not follow the plan of sales guy (he had them going through roof for no reason). System itself has been great, but again none of my follow up questions to them have been answered . Inspection from city is not done according to city. No final invoice for taxes. And our friends who referred them still didn't get their referral bonus.
I understand the craziness of current demand, but it doesn't take that much effort to properly communicate with your customers.

Update - A&R reached out after I posted this review and worked with me to address the issue. Communication from that point on was much improved. We love our system and install guys were great. Still recommend them to those that ask but do warn them about being proactive in communication. Hopefully this pain point is something they can address going forward. -
It's been two years and I'm still happy with my solar. So far it's meeting my needs and I'm really grateful for the care A&R put into the finer details of my installation. Just yesterday y'all got a compliment from my electrician, he said your conduit work was flawless. I'd recommend A&R to anyone, especially if you're looking for quality and honesty in a solar installer.

Very professional. We spoke to 4 companies before going with A&R Solar and they clearly knew the most about the space and have been operating for a long time. Installation went smoothly and we are producing more power than we expected. They sync you up with a helpful app to track all sorts of data. Highly recommend.

I couldn't be happier with A&R. From an initial explanatory meeting with Meg, to a recent "flip the switch" with project manager AJ, I found the process of getting solar with A&R to be straightforward and rewarding. My roof is complicated, they had to install on five different roof sections, and carry panels up a long extension ladder for some parts. I was not home during most of the three day installation, but the team arrived on time, happily went to work (in the cold rain!) and left everything tidy. Kudos to a great business and an exceptionally well run operation.

From the first day when the Solar specialist talked to us about a customized Solar setup for our house, A&R Solar has been super professional and helpful in everything. We had our panels installed 3+ years ago and are very satisfied with their service. Their customer service has been top notch every step of the way, they are prompt and responsive whenever you need their support. In fact, we had a small roof issue that came up recently, and they were extremely professional and courteous in how they handled the situation and fixed it for us immediately. I would recommend converting to Solar power to anyone looking for long term savings and caring for our planet, and specifically go with A&R Solar for your installation/service needs. They are really awesome and have surpassed all my expectations!

We got a quote from A & R towards the end of May with a bit of back and forth with them countering a competitors offer in June. July they came and did on on site survey after we had agreed to their offer. Up until that point they had been fine to deal with. Their competitor had done an on site survey and said a price $3000 higher was the best they could do for a 25.2 kw system. We provided them with the competitors design along with multiple pictures indicating that their design for the south side of our house did not fit the structure. We brought this up on multiple occasions but where assured that they would honor the production and cost promises made in the contract.
Now after they have already received 80% of the agreed to cost, they are claiming that they can only do a 22.68 kw system for the same price. We see this as a dishonest bait and switch tactic, and have demanded a full refund.
After multiple back and forth with them, they are now claiming that instead of being able to get us around 31,000 kw at about $2.31 per kw, that the best they can manage is around $2.71 per kw. And do not seem willing to make changes to honor the promised cost per kw.
At this point we are filling formal complaints and beginning talking with a lawyer as we feel they made the contract with us in bad faith. -
If you are looking to install solar on your roof, I heartily recommend working with A&R Solar. I researched solar companies for a year before signing with A&R, and their staff were the only ones who could answer all my questions, who knew all the codes and requirements and who designed a system that really reflected my needs. Their installation team was a pleasure to work with -- polite, professional and fast -- and their support staff has also been great at answering ongoing questions. I give them a 5 out of 5!

I am pleased to amend my earlier (poor) rating. Let me explain. I was super happy with the process -- start to finish -- of having A&R install solar panels for us. The sales person was really knowledgeable and helpful, their price was fair, the project manager and install team were all great. Everything worked great for a year and then we ran into issues with the SolarEdge live monitoring. I was not happy with the customer service support I received in trying to resolve this issue. To be fair, A&R was struggling with getting the help from Solar Edge that they needed. The issue is now resolved and I'm quite happy.

This is the company you want for any solar installation. The communication, coordination and professionalism was outstanding. They provide education, so you're well aware of not just how solar works, but information about your equipment as well. We had about 49 panels and 2 Powerwall 3's installed and took between a few days to a week. Extremely happy about the installation by A&R and the piece of mind that if something does need to get replaced, I have 25 years.

A&R did a wonderful job planning, answering our myriad questions, and setting up the ideal system for our needs. The install went smoothly and ahead of schedule and our only hiccup was communicating with the utility company. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a solid solar experience with amazing customer service.

A&R installed our solar panels earlier this year. They weren't the least expensive quote we received, but they had stellar reviews and we liked their design the best. Installation was smooth and our panels are now filling up our net meter bank!

Highly recommend A & R Solar. They cost a tiny bit more than one other solar company and less than 2 others I received estimates from but there was a good reason I went with them. They have been doing this for a long time and know what they are doing.
I wanted the best panels for my money and that is what they provided and knew how to install. The other less expensive company seemed as if they would be great to work with but they didn't have the experience that i felt they needed for such a big project.
Thanks A & R! -
We had a complicated situation where we were getting panels on a detached garage and our house and would therefore need 2 inverters, but they were able to work with us to figure out how to backfeed the power using our existing electrical line. When doing the installation, they presented a variety of options for how they could run the lines on our house and garage and they did a great job accommodating our requests. The final product looks great, produces power as advertised, and was installed in just a few days without too much disruption. It was a pleasure to work with A&R Solar and I'd recommend them to anyone in the area looking to go solar!

UPDATE: Still 5 stars. Our system is now 3 years old and still functioning perfectly. We received no cost service from A&R once when a couple of components weren't talking with each other. And after reading about the issues that folks have with some other solar contractors (especially those who advertise "no out of pocket expense") who install a system then won't return your calls when something goes wrong, I'm very happy we chose A&R Solar.
I contacted A&R Solar because I was interested in a home battery backup system. They suggested that I add rooftop solar panels. which would qualify the whole system for a federal income tax credit. They installed LG batteries and LG rooftop solar panels, which look great and work well. They were thorough and professional, and completed the job in a week. I am very happy with my system and would highly recommend A&R Solar to anyone who is interested in home solar power. -
We had a fantastic experience with A&R, from the initial consult to the final commissioning.
We had them install a full solar and battery system, as well as a full main service panel replacement, and new mast and meter base.
They were very communicative throughout the entire process, handled a couple of change orders without issue, and the install crews were great!
We'll definitely be reaching out to them when it comes time to install an EV charger. -
I reached out to A&R and met with Meg. She walked us through everything about our solar instillation and what to expect. She made it all very easy to understand!
After we wanted to move forward, going from financing to wiring up the electric and installing the panels, the communication was great. I will recommend anyone looking for solar installations to use A&R! -
I purchased my solar array from A&R about 6 years ago and had an amazing experience at the time. Since then, the customer support continues to be fantastic! On two occasions an individual panel stopped reporting back to the monitoring software and A&R was super responsive. They set my expectations on timeline, arrived when they said they would, and made the problem going away (once requiring replacing a panel) with no cost to me. They even removed a bird nest from under one of the panels :) Super happy with my choice of provider!
