Solstice Landscape Design did an outstanding job on creating my vision of what I wanted for my backyard. Having a yard and plants to maintain is new for me. Tristan the owner took his time to really figure out what would work for the long term and still meet my vision. Once the design was solidified, Tristan and his crew wasted no time and completed the job in a very professional and timely manner! I highly recommend Solstice Landscape Design!

Working with Tristan was a fantastic experience, and our landscape finally looks the way we'd dreamed when we bought the property almost 6 years ago.

The detailed questionnaire we filled out prior to meeting Tristan allowed him to start with a strong understanding of what we were aiming for in redesigning our 2.5-acre property. He took care to confirm what he'd learned from our responses, and our initial consultation was a really fruitful discussion about the scope of the project. After the initial consultation, Tristan spent A LOT of time on site, taking notes, sketching, and evaluating different elements of the landscape from different angles.

The landscape design Tristan presented was just what we were hoping for. The plan was beautiful, functional, and within our budget. The elements were strategic and thoughtful, working with the strengths of what already existed. We appreciated how carefully he'd thought out each piece (e.g., selecting plants that were native to the area and would be both beautiful and drought-tolerant). He responded quickly and positively to the few small changes we asked for.

With this exciting landscape plan in place, we were concerned about finding someone to do the installation well and at a reasonable price. And Tristan delivered again! He recommended we contact Brian Boals at Lawn, Land & Liquiscapes. Brian has done an incredible job of installing every aspect of the plan (irrigation, hardscaping, lighting, etc). We truly couldn't be happier with how it's all gone.

Wow … “this one goes to 11!” I wish I could give 11 stars!! After the addition of a patio and pizza oven to our backyard, we realized our landscaping was in serious need of an upgrade. After much internet searching, we chose Tristan based on his rave Yelp review and pictures of his completed projects. We really did not know what we wanted; we just had a vision in mind, likely influenced by too much HGTV.

We started with an extensive questionnaire that covered aspects of the proposed project which we had not even considered. Did we want to attract birds or butterflies? Did we want any edible plants? Did we want to incorporate any spiritual or philosophical ideals? I believe it is the depth of the questionnaire that allowed Tristan to create a plan that uniquely suited to what we wanted.

His attention to detail and our specific design requirements are what made the final outcome so amazing. His mastery of design was evident in his ability to take our random ideas and mesh them together to create the manicured, yet whimsical look we knew we wanted, but did not know how to achieve.

Once work commenced, it just got better from there. Tristan was extremely receptive to my input, (i.e. multiple changes) as the design implementation progressed. In fact, as the plan unfolded, he took it upon himself to make changes to improve the appearance and quality of the outcome. His skills extend far beyond plan design and plant installation. He built and installed a trellis. He installed outdoor lighting, pavers and a 6’ Bigfoot statue. And assembled a fairly complicated outdoor fountain.

Upon completion, he took the time to educate us on the on-going health of our new landscape and provide suggestions for the maintenance of our new backyard.

If you are looking for someone to transform your yard into a magical sanctuary for you and your family, Tristan can make that happen for you. I have no doubt you will be as thrilled as we are with the outcome. He is a true artist, and besides that, just a really nice guy. **Just to clarify- We installed Tristan's design for the space ourselves**

My husband and I were looking for a landscape design for our backyard that included a new patio and more privacy. We are DIY kind of people, but not good at planning a cohesive, attractive design. After extensive research of local designers, we decided that Tristan would be a great choice for us, if he would be willing to travel outside of his typical work area. Fortunately for us, he was willing to travel, I think because it was a design only job, and because our philosophies are similar. He condensed the process down to one day. He came out, listened and looked at my 10,000 ideas, and walked around the yard with us. Then we left him alone to do his work outside. About 2 hours later he brought in his design to show us and it was gorgeous! We really couldn't believe how lovely this rendering was, just a pencil sketch. The design uses so many of my favorite inspirations. We had a few questions, but wanted no changes. Everyone I have showed it to has remarked on the beauty of the design, and how amazing it will look when done. We can't wait to get started!

**Fast forward to 2017**

The yard transformation is complete! (well, not really- gardens continually evolve. The best part of gardening!)

It has completely transformed our life! The yard before did not invite lingering or relaxation. Now, we find we have friends over far more often. Lots of fireside conversations and absolutely everyone who comes over is drawn to the flagstone spiral; everyone walks it- it's magnetic! During the warm months, my daily coffee is sipped on the spiral bench- watching the hummingbirds zoom around and serenaded by their squeaky song as my dog happily patrols the perimeter. Bliss!

Last fall Tristan helped me rework two patches of ground flanking my back porch by removing a nettlesome holly bush and replacing with two hydrangeas repurposed from my front porch pots and adding grasses. The result is stunning, I couldn't be more pleased. And the hydrangeas are now sprouting new growth! Working with Tristan was wonderful. He's attentive and respectful of your ideas and is knowledgeable enough to flesh out even the scantest of notions you might have. He's fun and personable. Can't wait to do more work on my backyard.

Tristan recently designed and installed a perfect, beautiful back yard for us. We have a small townhouse yard, and Tristan was able to help us take a variety of vague ideas and shape it into something that is both functional and relaxing. He brought a high level of professionalism to all aspects of the process, from initial design to final steps, and made everything so easy for us! Solstice Landscape Design owned by Tristan collaborated with me to give my outdated, mature yard a new face lift. Tristan designed and performed the install himself which I value a great deal! He is fair, honest, trustworthy, and communicates well. Values that speak volumes about who he is as a person and how he runs his company.

From the start of the design project to the installation, Tristan supported my desire to keep some of the mature plants, transplant some and then supplement the remaining yard with new ones. Adding year round color and texture will be a joy to see evolve throughout the year. Tristan directed me to a number of places to pick out the water feature I request be added to the design and I'm thrilled with the installation, location, and plant choices. My favorite feature of my new yard!

I had a great experience with Solstice Landscape Design. Tristan, the owner, is a mind-reader - whatever I wanted or was thinking of having, it was included in my design plan. He not only reviewed my response to his questionnaire (which is really thorough) closely and listened to my every request/desire, he also helped me walked through my idea when I wasn't even sure what I wanted. He offered great ideas, and gave thoughtful feedbacks which I truly appreciate. No matter how late my email was sent, I would receive a feedback from him in the morning!

Tristan works hourly but when I went to him for advice on the color of our exterior paint, he was more than happy to help, for free. And he checked in with me from time to time even after our design was complete.

We didnt have a contractor so Tristan recommended his partner, Don. Don is such a warm person, and so easy to work with. He is flexible, resourceful and very experienced in his field. They help make my dream into a reality. Before I had a yard, now I have a beautiful garden.

Tristan did a fantastic job bringing our outdoor space to life. We have a tiny yard that was completely overgrown and unusable. Tristan provided us with a thoughtful design that reimagined the space as a stone patio/garden (including specific plant recommendations tailored to our yard’s layout and limited access to sunlight). In addition to designing the yard, Tristan also did the install. I understand this is not a service he normally offers, but he offered to do ours because of the small size of the project. Tristan was extremely professional, reliable, detail oriented, and straightforward in all aspects of the job, including pricing. He removed a tree that was taking up the bulk of the space, removed a concrete pad, installed the stone patio, pruned the plants, and planted new flowers and bushes. The end result is a peaceful oasis, and we could not be more pleased with the result. I highly recommend working with Tristan for all your landscaping needs!

This is a landscaping service that is managed by one individual, Tristan, who spends an enormous amount of time and energy getting to know you and your landscape before designing. Tristan helped me with a very large scale project that involved planting native grasses and flowers, inspired by the flowing palettes seen in The High Line in NYC. He hand drew a plan on a large-sized paper booklet that he printed for me, and constantly solicited feedback to make sure I was happy with the plan. Tristan has great taste and knowledge for PNW plants so it was easy to create a colorful and textural palette. I can’t recommend Solstice Landscaping highly enough.

My experience with Tristan Heberlein of Solstice Landscape Design, was exceptional from beginning to end. Due to new construction I needed help with hardscape as much as landscape. I could not be happier with the end result. It is truly beautiful. Tristan is exceptionally creative. He is also a great communicator. He listens. He returns messages quickly with elaborate detail. I mentioned how much I like the gardens at University Village. Tristan used a Google map to identify many of the plants and included them in my landscape design. He added the fragrance of jasmine growing on two large trellises. It’s dramatic and a focal point in the garden. The photo included does not begin to showcase Tristan’s work. We hired Aden Landscaping as part of our larger front yard remodel, and they redesigned our sprinkler system and added a drip irrigation system. It made a huge difference.

They reworked the layout so the coverage is much more efficient and targeted to the actual needs of the plants and lawn. The new drip system is fantastic — it delivers water directly to the roots, which means less waste, healthier plants, and much easier maintenance. It also gives us a lot more confidence that everything is being watered properly without overdoing it.

Their team was professional, knowledgeable, and thoughtful about how the irrigation system fits into the overall landscape design. You can tell they really understand both the technical side and the long-term health of the yard.

Very happy with the results and excited to see the whole project come together. Would definitely recommend them.

Alex was very helpful in helping me decide how to make changes in my backyard. He listened to me and shared his knowledge. I have had difficulty creating what I wanted due to a bit of an unfavorable yard environment. He also refinished my deck and built a sandbox. His crew were efficient and helpful.
