Excel chimney fixed a soul-crushing months long expensive and upsetting ordeal that involved other contractors doing terrible work, offering extortionary quotes to essentially knock down my entire chimney and take months to rebuild it, or just tell me honestly that they didn't know what the problem was and that I needed to call someone like Excel Chimney. And legitimately, it was a tricky issue to diagnose and a non-trivial amount of work to fix. As I learned over months, there are a lot of complex material science and constuction engineering things that happen with chimneys. And also, I am so burnt out and stressed after dealing with this since that atmospheric river event of Dec '25, that I must have called them, like... a zillion times. It would have been easy from Excel to have been like "Jesus H Christ, this guy again?" but instead, they clearly put themselves in my shoes and were like "yeah, this is a hard situation and this person needs help." I want to give a special shout-out to Tom Bennet, who really showed leadership. At the same time, every single person who climbed up on a ladder and was on my roof, as well as every single person from the office involved in coordinating, scheduling and invoice, each and eveyone one of them demonstrated these excellent qualities.

We live in a world where skill, fair pricing, compassion are a rare trifecta from businesss. Whenever one finds this critical nexus of qualities that form professionalism, it should be celebrated and raised up so that maybe others will follow suit and preserve the integrity of human civilization.
