Remodeler reviews in Seattle, Washington

Worked briefly with the owner + designer (Nikolai + Alex) on some designs. Put a deposit down to use their architectural engineer to take a look at the foundation and if we could build up, but ended up scratching the project and never needed the architectural engineer so requested our deposit back and the owner completely ghosted (to be clear, we paid completely for the designs rendered. It was just the work not done we asked for a return on). The owner stopped responding to emails and messages and it's been months. We are in the process of consulting an attorney. Very disappointed in the sheer scrupulous behavior.

I had an unfinished attic in my house that I couldn’t finish for the past year. I wanted to keep it simple—just some minor electrical stuff, and the rest was drywall and flooring. RENOVA was my first choice, so I can’t really say anything about my past experience with contractors, but I hope everyone works like them. Nick was very polite through the whole project; he gave me daily updates, and the communication was super open; I never felt stressed about it. They completed the attic renovation on time with all the electrical permits approved, and there were no changes to the budget at all, which was a surprise. I constantly hear stories about “unexpected costs” from my friends. I will definitely recommend RENOVA to my friends!

We're so happy with our decision to work with RENOVA for our master bathroom remodel. Their attention to detail was amazing, and we never felt left out or lost. Nick consistently ensured the project remained on schedule and everything was done correctly, with excellent communication from the start. Everyone we worked with was so friendly and personable, and the final result looked just like what their interior designer rendered for us (which was free for us). I will definitely work with RENOVA team again. Great work guys !

RENOVA did a complete kitchen remodel for us with the addition of an island and cooktop. We couldn’t be happier with the results and, in general, the process of working with the team. Nick was great; he communicated each day, kept me in the loop on everything since I was gone most of the time due to work, sent videos and detailed photos, and addressed my concerns without delay. I could literally text him late in the evening after work, and he would call me back and answer all my questions within minutes, which really impressed me. I ordered everything through RENOVA, and they even threw in free tile for the backsplash. I really appreciate it, Nick! Great kitchen! I was so happy that it was such a hands-off process for me due to my busy schedule; I had nothing to worry about!

We did a kitchen extension, with a buildout above the garage, lots of framework, and exterior work in addition to the kitchen remodel itself. RENOVA did a fantastic job, on Schedule! On budget! Nick was awesome, he was on the job site pretty much every day, delivering cabinets, tile, and shingles, making sure everything was on schedule and going by plan. The plumbing and electrical was done to the highest standard, with all the inspections imaginable. They were a great team to work with on such a huge project that was not easy by any means, lots of moving parts and things to juggle, but Nick and Mike were perfect. I would recommend RENOVA again and again!

We had a great experience with Gary and ACS. Our project involved plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall finishing, tile, and more, and Gary’s team had expertise in all. We especially appreciated their problem solving on a few decisions that helped minimize demolition. Gary was also very responsive and easy to communicate with. We’re so happy with how our new bathroom and guest room turned out, and would recommend ACS for any project, big or small.

Gary Gutierrez and ACS Seattle did a complete basement remodel for us and while his price was very competitive, unfortunately you get what you pay for.
My biggest complaint is that he just didn't seem to care about doing it right the first time because as long as it was fixed, as per the contract, his attitude was that he was doing his job. He once said to me "I don't care if we have to do it six f***ing times, the contract says we can fix it as many times as we need to"
To his credit Gary was indeed willing to fix things six times over. However, given the volume and nature of the issues, it was hard to want to continue with the process when the same issue was "fixed" over and over again and basic things like a non-level and non-square window, an obviously unlevel floor, or unattached hose bibs needed to be pointed out. -
As a first time homebuyer, I knew when I purchased this house I wanted to convert this ~ 100 sqft closet into a 3/4 bathroom. Gary came over, and explained the process, gave me homework on the design, and we were able to work together swimmingly. I even had a family visit while his team worked on the plumbing. I asked him for help installing a garbage disposal, and he mentioned it would be easy to put in a fullsize dishwasher as well. I'm very happy with his work, and I am grateful every morning when I use my new shower with real water pressure now!

Gary is an awesome guy and did a great job working my basement remodel. He's also advised me on other projects for years after the job was complete for basically nothing in return. Even when we disagreed, we had good conversation and arrive at a compromise. I'll work with him again, no problem!

We loved working with Chris, Oliver and the whole Jackson team for our basement refresh. Would 100% hire them again and recommend to everyone

I have the greatest praise for the team at Jackson Design Build. I benefited from their creativity, patience, flexibility, professionalism and, perhaps above all, outstanding work and craftmanship on the journey that began in early 2019 when they brought my entry and living room back from water damage to the plaster in my 1920s era house and then through the process later in 2019 of designing a bathroom that is a functional (in a tough upstairs space of angled ceilings) and simply lovely and flowing space and then the work in 2020 to realize that vision and update the rest of the upstairs at the same time. And all of this in times that we could not have imagined in early 2019 and that created challenges for finding a new way to work and live. Even with the necessary stoppage and delays due to the pandemic, Josh, Chris and the team at Jackson Design Build kept me up to speed on what was coming next and kept workers (and me) safe through the process. The depth of the whole team was stellar, from Lisa’s ability to connect with and foster my style, Josh’s calm management and Chris’s ability to track and get absolutely everything done no matter the challenge and on to the rest of the crew and the talented tradespeople, including Yuri, who worked tirelessly and with such creativity to make the tile even more beautiful; Darren, who created an oasis of blue; Brian, who exemplified patience and diligence on the electrical work; and the floor team, who worked and reworked quickly to finish just as the virus was shutting down everything. And I’d be remiss by not also praising teams for plumbing, closet design and drywall (especially in creating an arch to mirror an arch finished in plaster). Thank you, Jackson Design Build.

JDB remodeled our second story completely, eliminating wasted dead space from an unused chimney and double walls. They took two bedrooms, one bath and turned it into three bedrooms, one and a half baths. Our new main bath is a mini-oasis for us parents and a splash park for our kiddos! I feel like every bathroom with young children needs a tile surround with a floor drain next to the tub! We couldn’t be happier. Working with JDB through the remodeling process was easy-peasy, too!

We had wallboard dropping out of the bedroom ceiling and a leak in the kitchen as well. JDB discovered rot all down the west wall of the house and some problems with the south wall too. They suggested and used more leak-proof ways of dealing with construction details than we originally had while keeping the same look. Now we should be set for a long stretch of low maintenance. They did an amazing job despite dealing with Covid and the lead on our job going off to start their own business. I highly recommend them: everyone else thinks they are good too so there's a waiting list. When they get to you, you'll get the same conscientious oversight of your job that they gave us.

The team at Jackson Design-Build is extremely knowledgeable in both construction and design, making for a smooth and sensible collaboration. BUILD LLC has partnered with Jackson on previous projects, and we appreciate the expertise and personal attention they provide to each and every client, ensuring a successful outcome where everyone wins. As a company, they’re big enough to tackle complex projects, but small enough to give proper attention to the details. Jackson understands that effective communication is the basis of any successful project.

JDB was professional, courteous, flexible, and accountable throughout the entire design & build process for our basement remodel. We were hands-on clients - we provided a conceptual design to start with, we had particular preferences, and we wanted to self-perform chunks of the work. JDB worked with us every step of the way, providing alternatives, identifying potential pitfalls, and hand-holding when we needed it.
The build team was great. They completed the project on time and on budget, with no unexpected change orders and no major problems. The team took accountability for the few small issues that did arise. They were supportive and flexible with the elements of the work that we did ourselves, giving us plenty of advance notice of their look-ahead schedule and identifying where our work would fit in to keep everything moving. Finally, it was clear that JDB took COVID seriously, and we felt safe throughout construction, which was critical because we were at home for most of the work.
We highly recommend them. -
We worked with JDB on a basement remodel and were very happy with both the process and the outcome. We appreciated their time and care during design, their transparency through the pricing process, and their detailed work during construction. On top of that they were just pleasant people to work with and have in our home throughout the process! The process was very smooth and any minor snags were communicated clearly and dealt with promptly. We would work with them again and recommend their work.

I hired Jackson Design Build to update significant parts of my dated Mid-century home. The project was complex, and included replacing 90% of my home’s original windows, renovating the kitchen and main bath, relocating a laundry, and updating my home’s electrical service panel. JDB complete the project on time and within the budget that we negotiated. The design and construction phases of the project went smoothly, communication was always excellent, and construction staff took great pains to minimize dust, noise, and disruptions. JDB’s design team was superb. The modern designs they came up with perfectly harmonize with my home’s Mid-century aesthetics and natural setting. I would not hesitate to use JDB again.

We recently hired JBD to oversee a comprehensive project involving the demolition of existing driveway retaining walls, the construction of new concrete walls, and the relocation of the water connection to our house. From start to finish, their professionalism and expertise were evident in every phase of the project.
Permit Acquisition and Planning
JBD handled all aspects of acquiring the necessary permits with efficiency, ensuring that the project adhered to local regulations and timelines. They worked closely with us to understand our needs and collaborated seamlessly with architects and engineers to develop detailed and accurate plans. This streamlined approach saved us time and potential headaches.
Execution and Quality
The demolition of the old driveway walls was executed swiftly and cleanly, with minimal disruption to the surrounding property. The construction of the new concrete walls was equally impressive, showcasing excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. JBD's team ensured the walls were not only structurally sound but also aesthetically aligned with our home's design.
Communication and Customer Service
Throughout the process, JBD maintained open and clear communication, keeping us informed of progress and promptly addressing any questions or concerns. Their team was punctual, respectful, and consistently went above and beyond to meet our expectations.
We highly recommend JBD. They have completed several major projects for us over the years. Their professionalism, technical skill, and commitment to delivering high-quality results make them a standout choice. We are thrilled with the outcome and would not hesitate to work with them again in the future. -
JDB remodeled all 3 bathrooms, plus laundry room, in our 1960’s home in Shoreline. Lisa and Reed walked us through the design process, making creative choices within the space constraints. Simon’s value engineering comparisons clarified our choices. The planning and workmanship during construction were excellent. When a few problems arose, as is inevitable in remodeling, JDB stepped up to work with us to find solutions. We chose to stay in the house during the 6-month project, quite a savings. Sharing the house with JDB’s folks was surprisingly smooth, and they worked hard to keep us comfortable. We are delighted with the results, and look forward to calling on Josh, Mollie, Chris, Michael, Kelvin, and company for our future projects.

We had a very positive experience working with Josh and his team at Jackson Design Build are we started to explore who we wanted to move forward with our project. They were kind, clear, responsive, professional, and respectful. Our situation changed and we did not move forward with the project how we initially planned, but our interactions with Josh left us confident that their partnership would have been a strong one. We would happily encourage anyone thinking of working with them to reach out.
