Condescending and not very knowledgeable. Also, by _far_ the highest quote I got for this project out of the 6 companies that bid on it.

I was looking to install a level 2 charger for an EV, and initially I liked Infinite Electric. They were the first ones to send someone to check out things to give me a quote, and the technician was personable and seemed helpful. Their quote wasn't the lowest I got, but it was very competitive and I intended to go with them. The first sign of a problem was that the tech was convinced that the charging station I bought (a ChargePoint Home Flex) was limited to 40A, when in fact it can go up to 50A. It's literally in the model name (CPH50), as well as in the installation manual and so on. It took days of emailing specs before Infinite acknowledged that yes, this can go up to 50A. (Every other electrician I talked to had no question about this.)

Their original quote was for a 50A breaker, and when they changed it to 60A at my request (to handle 48A charging) the quote increased by _62%_. 60A breakers are $19 at Home Depot. When I called for an explanation, Nick told me that they had to change from Romex to THHN wire, and that's why it was more expensive. 90°C 6 AWG copper THHN wire is currently $0.87 per foot at Lowe's, and for this project I think they would need maybe 10 feet, tops. (The charger is just two feet from the panel.) THHN is a generic term for thermoplastic high-heat nylon (referring to the insulation used), manufactured by a number of companies, but the electrician I was talking to became angry when I pointed this out to him. Given the quote I got, he apparently sources it for more than $50/foot and thinks it's extremely special. (He also didn't know what THHN stood for...)

He also was very put out that I was asking for 90°C wire, and implied that it was "my request" for this that was making things so expensive. Um, it's literally a requirement for the charging station, written in bolded text in its own bullet point in the installation manual. Infinite claims to have installed many of these very same charging stations, so apparently they installed them all incorrectly. I talked to 5 other companies about this project and not a single other electrician batted an eye at the requirement to use single-strand wire. One explicitly told me Romex vs. THHN wouldn't change their quote.

When I asked if Infinite would honor the original quote they gave, using the original specs of 50A, he refused to directly answer the question but said several things that indicated that no, they would not honor a quote they gave two days ago despite saying that it was valid for 30 days.

Pricing on the quotes is shady, not listing any prices per item but rather just a total. This allows them to claim that a price change is due to wiring without actually putting it in writing that they're charging $600 for a few feet of 6 AWG wire.

Very disappointing, because originally I liked them the best of everyone giving me quotes.

We used Infinite Electric to replace our old smoke detectors and install new new smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. They gave us an in person written quote for three different options on their first visit, and performed the work at a later date. Rachelle and Sierra helped us schedule the work and electricians Justin and his partner (don't know his name) did an excellent job installing all six devices, testing them out, and cleaning up after they were done. They all were professional and very pleasant. We would use them again in the future.

The work that was done was great. Rob Don Kyle were here for about 7 hours and never slowed down. When the inspector came out even he said the work was excellent. The crew returned right after the inspection to backfill the ditch they had to dig. I would highly recommend this this company and use them again. Sierra was also very good to work with on the phone. Thanks again
