Deck Builder reviews in Vancouver, Washington
-
I waited 2 weeks before leaving our review. Made sure we felt the same way after some late fall use. These guys are great and did a better job than I expected If anything they over built. Our old 30 year old 400 SQ ft. deck was in need of replacement and we are in our 80's and have some special needs because of that. The Crew lead understood our problems make some changes on the fly to match our needs. We were living in the house at the same time. They were very respectful of us and the soundings .We would give them a 5 out of five. Highly recommend them. Thank you guys for your help on this and a great job.

Chad was professional, courteous and gave a prompt estimate for our deck project. Communicated well.

BE WARNED, THE 4.5 STAR RATING IS DUE TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER. IT DOES NOT REFLECT THE CURRENT OWNER'S REPUTATION!!! BE WARNED!
Short Review:
I would NEVER recommend this company ever again due to their lack of commitment to stand behind the quality of their company name, as guaranteed on their website. This company is NOTHING like what the previous owner, Brent, built and stood behind.
Long Review:
I have to agree with Brian F. in regards to the new owner Damon. He is extremely non-responsive. My husband and I worked with Brent, the previous owner, and he was EXCEPTIONAL! Truly! But, we had to reach out this year, 3 yrs after our three level $115k project was completed regarding some settling of some of the posts that needed to be shored up and hoped to get it done quickly. We reached out to Damon in early May 2025 to see about having it looked at.
On May 19, 2025, Damon came out to take a look at the decks and said he'd reach out to someone who would be the expert in what would need to be done.
After several attempts to receive an update from Damon with no reply, we reached out to the previous owner, Brent, to ask if he could assist in us getting a response from Damon.
Finally, on August 5, my husband was able to connect with Grant and shared his frustrations of not receiving any update from Damon. Grant stated he'd talk with Damon and someone would get back to us.
Damon called back and stated that the fix for the problem was 'tricky' and he'd be working with another vendor to come and jack up the deck, pour some concrete and get it cared for.
That vendor reached out to us on August 26, and came by to assess the decks a few days later. This individual provided what he felt needed to be done and stated that he would let Damon know the solution.
It took another 6 weeks of my husband trying to get a response from Damon as to where we were in getting this resolved and at least what it was going to take.
We didn't know if Lifestyles would pay for the fix or split it with us or if we would be expected to pay for it ourselves, but we just wanted to have a reply so we could move forward.
Today, my husband left another message, stating how we just needed to have a response and that we were concerned about the deck continuing to worsen due to coming into the rainy season. FINALLY, Damon called us back today only to tell us that he was not going to do anything in regards to caring for the repair and that he was 'sorry' that he had not communicated that to us when we initally reached out 5 months prior. He stated that the guarantee of the workmanship was not his problem as the work was done prior to him owning the business. He did not seem to care that the name or the reputation of the company could suffer due to his lack of 'good faith' customer care.
I did share that if we would have known that, we could have gotten quotes and had it repaired during the summer months. Now that is the rainy season, will anyone want to take that on? Damon did not seem to care that we were extremely frustrated with the lack of communication and the lack of telling us up front that the responsibility of the repair would be on us.
This company is no longer one that I would EVER recommend. You can see by my glowing review in May 2022 when our project was completed and the care that the previous owner, Brent, provided is CLEARLY not the same with the new owner, Damon. We are horribly disappointed. -
Artisan Exteriors PNW built us a fence so good, even our neighbors are jealous (and slightly annoyed they didn't hire them first). The crew was fast, professional, and clearly knew what they were doing -- no YouTube tutorials required. The quality is top-notch, and it turned out even better than I imagined. I'd absolutely call them again for future projects, and if you're on the fence about who to hire... well, now you know.

Beautiful cedar fence. It's been two weeks now and we're still getting compliments on your excellent work! GREAT value. (Your site shows us in Arizona. This work was done in Vancouver, Wa.)

Ever since the new owners took over in late 2024, I say steer clear from working with Life Styles Deck and Fence (aka: Lifestyles Outdoor Living, aka: AMK Outdoors LLC).
Short Review:
Damon, the new owner made this project take 7 months to do 3 gates and about 80 feet of fencing in total, which was never completed.
He requested that we pay an extra 50% for the project AFTER we signed a contract.
What work they did do was not made to spec, making a 4 foot wide swing gate to fit into a 3 foot wide opening.
We had to fire them, horrible experience.
Long Review:
We heard glowing reviews from Life Styles Deck and Fence from several people, my parents included. All of the good word of mouth was from when the previous owner Brent was there. Towards the 4th quarter of 2024, Damon took over.
When we were getting quoted they came by and drafted a contract for 2 double swing gates, 1 single swing gate, 1 stretch of fence that was 72 feet, and 1 stretch of fence which was 9 feet. We agreed and signed the contract in September of 2024.
At the end of October they came out and did most of the 72 foot stretch of fence and demolished the old fencing we were looking to get replaced. After that we had silence. No work was done for several months. Every time I tried to reach out to Damon via email, phone call, or text, it was a coin toss on if I would get a response or not. When I did get a response it was some excuse pushing back the timelines.
In January Damon did reach out to me. Not with a schedule, but with a plea that we pay him an extra 50% than what was agreed upon from our contract. 50% extra to get less work done. The contract signed said we were going to get steel frames for all of the gates, welded and powder coated. He asked me to pay 50% more and that would not include powder coating.
It wasn't until March (6 months after signing the contract) when we started to get any sort of confirmation that something was getting done. Damon submitted a schedule of when work was to be done and completed. Of course this got pushed back several more weeks until when they finally arrived on site in the middle of April.
The workers came by and installed the 4 posts required for the gates. After they left I went and checked on the posts and they were positioned incorrectly. The spacing for the single swing gate was a 3 foot opening. On the contract that we signed it specified a 4 foot gate.
The posts are steel posts sunken into concrete, so this isn't exactly an easy fix.
I sent an email, called, and texted Damon to confirm the gate sizes as this was now concerning. Radio Silence, again.
I then got a call from one of his workers that has been there since Brent was in charge. They told me that Damon instead of having them coming to work on our property as intended by the schedule, had his workers send to a different project entirely. I was also told that the gate sizes made where not the sizes specified on the contract.
So now I am stuck with gate posts in the wrong position, only a portion of the fence done, and an open driveway with no barrier to my backyard.
Working with Damon has been a nightmare, by far the absolute worst contracting experience in my life.
If you are looking for work to be done on your property, look else where. -
I recently had a Trex deck completed. My deck is beautiful!
Brent was a joy to work with. His crew was amazing. I can't say enough good things about the whole process. Plus I decided at the end I wanted to have a new cement landing at the bottom of my stairs.
Brent hooked me up to B 7 Construction. They came out in a timely manner & did a beautiful job. Brent always was easy to get ahold of, & kept me informed of everything happening. Thank you Lifestyle's Deck & Fence!!!!! -
Lifestyles earned our highest rating. Our new finished deck is beautiful. They rebuilt our 650-square-foot, two-level deck and railing from the ground up. The job was completed in five work days beginning with the demolition of our old rotted deck and ending with their cleanup including haul away of debris. Honest and extremely experienced.
Great communication with us, good at explaining our options, good listeners about what we wanted. The construction crew (Fernando, Abel, Sean) was fun to watch. They worked well as a team, on task, highly productive. They joked and laughed, and Fernando made fun of himself sometimes serenading the others.
We got three bids for this job. Choosing Lifestyles was one of the smartest decisions we've ever made. -
Brent of Lifestyles Deck was quick to respond to my request for a quote to replace my 920 SqFt 27-year-old deck. He showed up on time and was very knowledgeable of what needed to be done we walked the project and discussed several options on the direction we would go. His installation team was busy with various other projects, but we agreed to do my project in phases as his crew had time between jobs already on the books. A few weeks after signing contract received a call from Brent advising his crew was ready to start. The crew showed up on time every day and kept the job site clean as they worked. It was early spring here in the Great Northwest, so they had to deal of all things rain. But they got the project done in a reasonable time frame. I would highly recommend LifeStyles Deck to anyone needing to have their deck replaced.

I highly recommend using Lifetime Deck and Fence for any project. We needed to replace our rotted deck and the whole process from estimate to finished construction was smooth and easy. The crew was professional and did an incredible job. We're so happy with the finished product!!

Brent and his team did a great job on our difficult decking project, from start to finish. It involved replacing two large decks totaling over 1,000 square feet off the back of the house, on a steep hillside. Brent provided helpful advice on a range of topics, from the initial planning and design, as well as issues with the house that arose that were not directly related to the deck. The project ended up coming in on time despite some hiccups with the house that complicated the work. Brent was responsive, professional, and friendly throughout the process. Great can-do attitude and hands on approach. We've had several major projects on the house over the last few years, and Brent was by far the easiest to work with. His pricing was also very competitive and he delivered great value. Highly recommend using Lifestyles Decking.

When we first met Brent, we knew that we wanted Lifestyles Deck and Fence to replace our deck. We were very anxious to receive his bid and even though we had received others, we waited for his. We were thrilled with the quote that he provided as this was a VERY large project of 3 decks to replace. Brent was quick to offer suggestions on what we could do, how we could keep the expense of the replacement low but still have the best quality of products. He provided us with an architectural drawing of what he envisioned and what we had agreed upon which was something that no other vendor provided with their quotes.
We enjoyed working with his foreman, Fernando, that lead the daily work and kept the crew on task. Throughout the project, Brent stayed in touch with us, ensuring we were pleased with the workmanship and kept us aware of the timeline as we went along.
As the project was coming to a close, Brent often visited and inspected the work. He took great care to ensure we were pleased with the end result. We would recommend Lifestyles Deck and Fence to anyone and everyone as the workmanship and experience was truly outstanding. -
Lifestyles Deck and Fence replaced my old and rotting front porch with Trex Decking. I absolutely love the finished project! The crew (Connor and Logan) were hardworking, skilled, and respectful. There was great attention to detail. I highly recommend this company!
-
Brent replaced our old deck and with a beautiful deck of much better design and lay-out for our home and yard. He was creative and able to envision a more functional deck and stairs than the one we had. (The other builders who bid the job were not able to see past the design flaws in the original deck and stairs, and would have just replaced them with the same or similar flaws.) Brent does high quality work, and strives for complete customer satisfaction. We are thrilled with the finished project!
-
Didn't use them because we are outside of their area but exceptional communication speed and quality.

Got an estimate for replacing an existing cedar deck with Trex from Brent. It was one of 3 estimates. The price was comparable to others but he provided details of material supply, options for installation, and potential costs for extras(which there were none). Had a team of 2 start the job a week later. They worked through some of the most ugly weather, snow, hail, pouring rain to finish a 900 square foot deck in just over 2 weeks. The quality of the work was excellent and we are very happy with the final product. The clean-up was thorough and they even disinfected the deck before they left. I would definitely use them again for any other decking projects.
-
We had our deck replaced this summer by them. Excellent workmanship and the estimate was spot on. No surprises with this guy. He has his own crew and doesn't sub out anything.
-
These guys are fantastic. They built us a deck last summer and I was so happy with their work we had them come back to build a cover for our deck this year. Once the project was complete- it totally exceeded my expectations. They weren't the lease expensive quote I got but I'm glad we decided to go with them. Lifestyles Deck and Fence is worth every penny.

We had Lifestyles replace our 25 year old cedar deck and would definitely give them 5 stars. It is a large deck with many difficult angles and included stairs. My husband is a hobby woodworker and was absolutely thrilled with the high quality of craftsmanship Liifestyles provided. They delivered on every promise made. We would absolutely recommend giving them an opportunity to your deck or fencing needs. We were especially impressed at how very little product was left over when the job was completed...amazing!

Brent with Lifestyles Deck and Fence provided an amazing product and service. He built a fence for us as well as handrails on a porch and deck. He coordinated and worked well with the gate and concrete guys, making for a smooth-running project. His employees were wonderful and Brent followed up to make sure everything was perfect. We highly recommend him.

Hired Lifestyles Deck to remove a wooden deck and stairs and build replacements. Lifestyles built a Trex deck, aluminum lighted railing and handrails, and stairways and landings.
The workmanship is exceptional. The finished product exceeded our expectations. Brent and all his employees were helpful and professional.
