The furnace unexpectedly stopped working last week in the evening. I called after-hours and promptly received a return call. A tech showed up at my door the following morning at the scheduled time. After reviewing the error codes, the tech quoted me the cost of the replacement parts (very expensive non-Carrier part on a 14 year old furnace). The tech and I then conferred regarding the costs and benefits of repairing the existing unit or replacing it. We discussed the various furnace options. Within a couple hours, the installation team was at the house. They had drop cloths running to the basement. They went to work on the installation, upgrading the gas valve, associated wiring, and sheet metal, and elevating the furnace off the floor. They reused the existing air cleaner and humidifier, moving the humidifier to a better location, and upgraded the thermostat. The installers did a thorough job cleaning up. They showed me the features of the new furnace and how to maintain the humidifier and air cleaner.

I called Shackelford because I had great service from them years ago when I installed an A/C unit at another house. They didn't disappoint me then and they rose to the occasion this time around. I wasn't in a position to shop around, but based on my past experience and discussion with others, the price was fair, and most importantly, the furnace works like a charm.

Shackelford H&C is and has been the only Heating and Cooling company we’ve used and we will continue to use. We are eager to refer people to them because of their work ethic and we trust them. They always listen to our needs, provide the best affordable options and they always stand by the products installed.

My A/C went out earlier this summer and I'd just lost my job. My 80+/year old neighbor has an HVAC guy who comes to his house fairly frequently, so I was talking to them while they were outside and the neighbor's guy took a look at my A/C unit. He said that the compressor was definitely broken and I'd have to replace the entire unit. That is a pretty hefty price tag, especially when I'm already living off savings an unemployment for a single income household. So I decided to wait and stick some window units in my bedroom and my daughter's.

Well after two months of trying to open windows in the rest of the house at night and running only the fan to pull cool air from the basement, I decided enough was enough. I called Shackelford and a couple other companies to get quotes on replacing the entire A/C unit and evap coils. Mike came out to do an estimate this morning. He said actually, let me make a call quick, I'm not sure this unit is completely dead and asked my permission to try something.

Bing, bang, boom, Mike replaced one part for a cost of $371.80 rather than needing to replace the entire unit and evap coils. The A/C is back up and running and I feel so relieved. It's from 1999 and I'm still going to need to upgrade to a new unit in the nearish future, but at least now I can wait until I'm back working full time. Needless to say, I know what company I'm going to be buying the new unit from once I'm ready. Thank you Shackelford and especially Mike!

Our furnace died at 4pm on a Friday evening in March. Temperatures at night were in the 20s. Called Shackelford and the boss came to our house within 10 minutes. He confirmed that the furnace had died
And gave us a couple options. We could pay the crew overtime to install on Saturday or wait until Monday. Either way, he would supply us with space heaters to keep us comfortable until the new unit was installed.
We opted for Monday. The space heaters worked great - had to turn them down during the day since the temp got to 78. Shackelford called Saturday morning to make sure we were OK.
Monday at 8am, the crew arrived and completed the installation by 10:30. Great job guys!

We had our older Carrier furnace and air conditioner replaced by Shackelford about a month ago. Very competitive pricing, replacement was done efficiently in about 1/2 day, and the units have been working great! I would highly recommend Mike and his team.

Update: Still knocking it out of the park! Fixed my AC faster than Jimmy John’s delivers a sandwich.

Mike and the team do great work. They are prompt, they make make great recommendation to help you get the most efficiency for your money, and the get the job done in a timely and clean manner. I’ve worked with them several times and they’re consistent with everything mentioned above.

On Sunday night, our furnace went out. After nearly three weeks of subzero temps, we almost made it through the polar vortex, but on Monday morning the boys woke up a little blue. Around 6:00 am, I called Shackelford Heating & Cooling and they had a technician at the house in about 15 minutes. Our furnace was shot, but they worked quickly to find a unit that worked for our home and our budget. It was a very cold day, but they had the heat back on by 2:00 pm.

I can't recommend the company enough. The tech, Jim, was courteous, forthright, and he was also good with the dog and the loud, cold kids. I highly recommend this company.

I used Mike and Jon to service to my a/c and furnace @ my rental house and my home for a couple of years and was very satisfied. I recently had them install a new a/c and furnace at my rental. The installers were great. They were there early and finished very promptly by mid afternoon. They were personable and I couldn't have been happier. Our furnace went out on a Wednesday morning. Called Shackelford after the great job they did with our central air. Within an hour Mike had someone over repairing it to get us through a cold weekend, by that afternoon we had quotes for a new furnace, and by Monday morning we had a brand new furnace installed. Couldn’t be happier with the service, the responsiveness, and the quality. They even let our dog out to use the bathroom!

From Mike (owner) who came out and evaluated our situation and then recommended the 'correctly sized' furnace based on our ductwork, and didn't try to sell me an upgrade, to the guys who came to remove the old and install a new Carrier. Mike, Holly & the entire Shakelford team provided top notch service when our furnace was diagnosed as basically “dead” back in late October - right before the cold started settling in. In looking for HVAC companies to come out to provide an estimate, a friend that recently had a great experience with Shackelford referred us to them. Mike was quick to come out, assess and provide quotes for the various class of furnace we were looking to get - which was a Carrier Infinity or equivalent. Not only was Shakelford the fastest to respond (same day we contacted them) they also gave us the best quote. In less than a week from the initial call, we had our new furnace installed. The installing technicians were friendly, efficient, and very knowledgeable and took the time to explain how the new smart thermostat worked. As I mentioned earlier, the entire process from start to finish was the best. I’d highly recommend them for your future heating and cooling needs!

I've been using Shackelford Heating and Cooling for 10 years now, and am very happy with their services. Our furnace started randomly leaking so I made a quick call to Shackelford since we have used them in the past. Holly was great and quickly got me on their schedule. John the service tech was right on time and I appreciated his thoughtfulness related to COVID precautions (mask, entered directly through our basement stairs vs. going through our house, kept 6 ft apart, etc). He was polite, efficient, informative and straight to the point. I will continue to use Shackelford for all of our HVAC needs and I highly recommend them.

I needed to replace a 36-year old furnace that probably wasn’t going to last much longer & an equally old AC unit and emailed a couple companies for estimates. Mike (the owner) came out and was very personable. Courteous about masks, shoe covers, and gave a fair assessment of the scope of replacement, costs, limitations, and the options. I was emailed a copy of the estimate and my options.

I ended up going with a pretty basic 2-stage furnace and AC unit (the AC unit will be installed once the ground is no longer frozen). They must have had a cancellation because I got scheduled quickly for the furnace replacement.

Mike (the installer, not the same Mike as before) arrived at 7 am on the dot. Also very nice, checked if it was ok to block the driveway with their trucks, asked about covering the stairs, and began to get to work. Jim joined him a short while later. By about noon I had a new furnace with air purifier, the old stuff was hauled away, and Jim walked me through the new thermostat. I was also shown the furnace itself and basic info about it.

They left the basement and stairs far cleaner than when they started.

It’s been less than a week, but I am delighted with the new furnace. It has made a huge difference and is consistently warming the whole house in a way the old one just couldn’t.

I can't say enough about Shackelford's responsiveness and efficient work. Arrived when they said they'd arrive with quick diagnostic and resolution. Quickly knew the problem and had the parts to fix on the spot. Price was fantastic and I'm back to ice cold air conditioning. Very highly recommended!

Shackelford came through again. Our air conditioner was making a weird noise during this heat wave. I called them up and they sent someone out within an hour. The air was fixed and up and running in less than 20 min. the temp in the house didn't even have time to go up. I will never go anywhere else for any of our heating a cooling needs. Our 1980's AC was clearly on the out and Shackelford came within days to replace it. We decided to replace the furnace at the same time as well.

They were prompt, very nice and professional, explained how everything worked which I appreciated as a nerd and DIYer, and finished by noon. The Carrier AC has been working much more efficiently than our old system and I feel very confident that the AC and furnace were installed correctly and safely. Definitely would recommend working with them again.

Over the past few years, I've used Shackelford for emergency service for my furnace, as well as subsequent replacement of both my furnace and central AC. They have provided same-day service, including replacing my central AC within 6 hours of calling -- with the utmost courtesy and competency. I highly recommend Shackelford.

It was time to replace our 18-year old furnace, AC, and thermostat, so we decided on Shackelford, based on good reviews from neighbors and friends. We also liked the idea of dealing with a small local company.
We received our estimate quickly, with a fair price; the replacement was done efficiently, with three techs finishing it up in about half a day, all wearing face masks and observing appropriate social distancing; and most important, they were very tolerant of our loud obnoxious dog.
Jim, the lead tech, did a great job helping me set up the new thermostat and teaching me how to use it. When a glitch developed with the outside temperature sensor about a week after installation, Jim was back within a few hours of my call. He checked the wiring and replaced the faulty sensor in no time, again being very tolerant of the obnoxious dog.
I am happy to recommend them for heating and air conditioning needs.

Our initial appointment was with the owner, and he explained all of our options for a new furnace and gave us his best recommendations without pushing for added items and services. Mike and Hunter, the install team, were very friendly and professional and did a great job installing our new furnace. They explained everything we needed to know about the new furnace and thermostat, cleaned up after themselves, and were patient and kind to our kids. We highly recommend Shakelford!
