Mike and his crew not only did a great job with our crawlspace repair, but they were professional, prompt, and great communicators. They finished the job ahead of schedule and took care to clean up after themselves. They even took my trash cans up from the curb!

Jason came and looked at my grandmother's house. In my mind we were going to need some work done but after a thorough inspection he said that for the age of the house it was normal settling and wouldn't require his services. He recommended me to a structural engineer, just to be on the safe side, and that report came back the same. I appreciated the honesty and integrity to tell me we were fine and not do work just to do it. Will most certainly be using them for any foundation projects in the future and would refer them to anyone!

Matthew came out to advise and provide an estimate for foundation repair on a house that we were preparing to close on. He provided fantastic explanations of what was and was not needed, putting me greatly at ease and giving me a strong basis for negotiating the final price of the house.

Michael and his crew came out this past weekend to do the work (two custom steel support beams and three helical piers), and they were fantastic. Quick, efficient, and unobtrusive, even taking time to move and replant a large bush that was in the way of some of the work they needed to do.

I absolutely recommend SHSS for any work you might have. Excellent customer relations and repair work at a very fair price.

Had a great experience working with Brian. He laid out all of our options thoroughly for the work we needed done and pointed out some things that could use work as well, but wasn’t pushy about anything. He was very communicative and responsive throughout the process. The crew that came to do the work did an outstanding job. I would definitely recommend the company and will be using them for any future foundation work. Brian also though in one of their advertising hats, so I’d say it was definitely worth it 😂

Fantastic company! Especially Jason Cowan. Jason is one of the most honest guys I know in the business. This company is straight up with you. If you need someone to come out, to just take a look at your crawlspace or you’re a foundation they will give you an honest evaluation of what needs to be done or maybe doesn’t need to be done. Mike and his crew from SHSS were courteous, timely, and professional! We were nervous about such a big foundation fix on our 100+year old home (brand new to us) but every day Mike communicated with me, kept me updated, shared photos of the progress and answered all of my questions. I cannot recommend Mike, his crew and SHSS enough! They finished under estimate and in less time than predicted, as well as adhered to the Scout Law of ‘leave no trace’ when they left each day. We met with several companies (I think three) in the area regarding my mother's foundation concerns. What we liked about Matt was that he was honest, approachable, and fair. Plus, he lives in the neighborhood, so we knew he understood the land on a personal and professional level. Also, we appreciated his disposition - he has a sense of calmness and humor. I knew we would be in good hands. I was right. His team - led by Mike, supported by Mario and Francisco, arrived on time and were incredibly thoughtful. I had a meaningful conversation with Mike before the work began which I appreciated. Additionally, I liked how he treated his team with respect. My mother was nervous about her porch being ripped apart (it has sentimental value) - we thought it was a goner. But, Mike and the team delicately took it apart, leaving the wood in great shape, and even gave us the name of a person we could call for help putting it back together again. We called their referral and within the week, the porch was back almost as new. The foundation job looks great too. My mom was thrilled. Under kind leadership, you get kind workers, and happy clients. We would use this company again for sure. Thanks so much!

Southern Foundations Specialists did a great job for me and I would definitely recommend them. Brian Phillips, the estimator/ project mgr came out to look at my problem. My deck was settling on one side on the corner of my house about 1/4 to 1/2” and he immediately identified the problem. One steel support column under my deck had rusted out in the ground because we had a gutter downspout that was emptying out right next to the column. They gave me a quote that was fair and poured three concrete footings and installed temporary jacks to raise the deck back up and then custom-made the steel columns and installed them on the footings to raise my deck back up. It is now level again. It was a neat professional repair. Brian communicated with me very well and met me twice at my house and was very punctual and knowledgeable and good at explaining to me everything that needed to be done and came back afterwards to make sure I was satisfied. I highly recommend this company for this type work.

We reached out to Brian at the recommendation of a family friend and would definitely work with Southern Home Structural Specialist again. The entire process was a pleasant experience. Brian came out to provide the quote on a crawlspace encapsulation and never once was salesy or pushy to close the deal. He provided us with the information we needed, thoughtfully answered questions we had and gave us time to make a decision. We greatly appreciated that. Their on-site crew was great as well. They showed up to begin working as scheduled and were very considerate of our property as they were on site. The finished product was great too. It is nice to no longer have to be concerned about moisture issues beneath our house. Last, Brian even came by after the project to make sure the dehumidifiers were programed as needed to do their jobs. 10/10 recommend giving them the opportunity to serve you.

We contacted Southern Home Structural and had the pleasure of speaking with Brian. From our very first conversation and throughout the entire process, he was wonderful to work with! Not once did we feel pressured to do unnecessary work on our home unlike our experience with AFS during their “free” quote. Brian answered every single question we had and took the time to educate us on all our options.

Once we received the quote and were ready to move forward, we were placed on their schedule. Then we had the pleasure of meeting Dennis aka Drew (Dennis is the new name my mother-in-law gave him!). Dennis and his crew were absolutely WONDERFUL. They communicated with us throughout the entire process and were professional, punctual, and hardworking.

If I could give more than a five-star rating, I would! Southern Home Structural is truly a great company to work with and Brian and Dennis aka Drew were perfect for the job! I could not recommend them enough!!

After another company serviced the sump pump system in our crawl space, they tried to convince us we needed extensive foundation work (despite us noticing zero foundation issues, and despite that same company telling us our foundation was fine only a year earlier). They couldn’t answer basic questions about their alleged measurements compared to previous years, so we reached out to Southern Home Structural Specialists for a second opinion. Brian came out quickly and was able to assure us that our foundation is fine. He did a more thorough inspection than the other company and did not try to sell us anything. If we ever do need foundation work in the future, we will be using Southern Home Structural Specialists and not the company that tried to scare us into tens of thousands of dollars of unnecessary work.

I used Southern home Foundation some helical peers under my house. I love how this company is run… Unlike the mega foundation repair companies, I was able to use an independent Structural Engineer, who had no ties to the profitability of my project. The estimate came in at only 12k (when Ox and AFS quoted more than $90k! ) Mike and his crew were extremely respectful of my yard and belongings. They returned the areas to as close to original as possible. (and in some cases to better than what had it been before!) I highly recommend!

It’s really nice when your house doesn’t vibrate during your washer’s spin cycle anymore. My 100-year-old house on Birmingham’s Southside, on the downslope of Red Mountain, was showing some severe foundation issues. Following an engineer’s assessment and drawing of plans (separate from Southern Home), I sought out Southern Home after asking my neighborhood group for recommendations for companies familiar with these old houses on Southside. They and their subcontractors did excellent work, putting the house on temporary supports, tearing out the existing (crumbling) wall supporting the house, pouring a concrete (it had previously just been built on dirt), and rebuilding the wall supporting the house (all of the green wall you see in the pic, and then some). It’s nice to know your house isn’t going to tumble down the mountain.

We used Southern Home Structual specialist to open up our small condo kitchen. We removed a load bearing wall, with 4 supports post, down to 2 corner post. Matt came and gave us an estimate, then emailed us the plans , with the paperwork to submit to HOA. They showed up on time and honored the estimate price. If you are looking for an honest dependable assessment of a home, this is the company for you. The attentiveness and attention to detail was top notch. Brian looked the home over as if he were the one buying it, he was very thorough in his assessment and very clear in what the fix would be for problems found. Moving forward, if I foundation questions or needs there’s only one company that I would trust and that’s Southern Home Structural Specialists!!! 1000% recommend.

I have been noticing very small cracks on my home's exterior brick wall which seemed to be getting worse over the years. The garage floor also had some very small cracks on the same side of my house. I discussed this with Brian, of Southern Home Structural Specialist, at the Birmingham Home Show. He offered to take a look at it the next week and tell me his thoughts on it. After reviewing the size and pattern of the cracks he gave me his honest opinion. I had options to just leave it and see if it gets worse or he could provide an estimate to install pier supports in the ground to prevent any further sinking or moving of the foundation. I appreciated his honesty and asked for the estimate. The cost was much less than I expected. Mike and his crew did the work today. It was all done in one day. They were very professional and did great work. I no longer will worry about foundation issues and big repair bills in the future. I really appreciate their service and the peace of mind it brought to me.

This is the second time we have used Alabama roofing professionals and both times we were extremely pleased with both the work and the people. The Austin and Hayden team came out to the house immediately and our problem was completely solved without any delay. We highly recommend this team and the company for any roofing issues.

They went out of their way to find matching siding to save me from having to redo the entire house.
