Hector's crew has performed two separate landscaping projects for me recently. The first job involved planting some large evergreensabout 3 months ago. The guys did a great job. I was very impressed by the way they cleaned up my driveway after they finished. Last week the crew laid some sod and I was even more impressed for several reasons. First the sod was laid very seamlessly. Secondly they watered the sod "and" rolled it with a large metal roller in order to compress the sod. Lastly they blew off my driveway and used a hosepipe to remove any excess dirt. I appreciate the detail as far as cleaning up after each job and the detail performing the job correctly.

Shopping at Secret Garden is an experience. Owner is very gracious and knowledgeable. Always willing to help and may even offer you lunch. Huge selection at great prices.

If you don’t already know about Secret Garden Shop, you need to! They have everything you need for landscaping and gardens! Awesome people, great prices, wonderful owner, and they send you home with fresh produce too! The place is HUGE! I’ve been several times in the last few months and their selection is better than any I’ve seen! P.S. Hector you are awesome and so helpful!

You should run from Hector. We hired Hector to build a patio and pool. We signed our contract July 2022 with a promised completion date of October 2022. We had to fire Hector in October 2023 because he was no where close to completing the project after multiple promises to finish. “We will be done next month” over and over. Our new contractor(along with every other contractor that came to quote) pointed out so many major mistakes. In fact the pool wasn’t safe. If anyone would have gotten in the pool they would have been electrocuted. He ordered a completely different pool than what we picked out and lied about EVERYTHING. He kept asking for money(which we paid) for materials that were never ordered and they never showed up at my house. Hector lied over and over about being licensed in Shelby County. We found out he never even submitted for a permit and is NOT licensed to build in Shelby County. I’ve heard from several supply companies that Hector is notorious for not paying his bills. Don’t be fooled by the Christian music he plays at his business or by the “free stuff” he gives away. It’s all part of his scam. There is not one part of our project that hasn’t had to be redone because he work is so bad. One contractor told us they were fixing the last pool Hector built and had to tear the entire project up and start over. FAIR WARNING RUN FROM THIS GUY. HE IS NOTHING BUT A CROOK AND A FRAUD!

My wife and I just stopped by Secret Garden in Chelsea to look at landscaping options for our yard and Mr. Hector was there to greet us. After discussing our project and pointing us in the right direction he brought us over to an outdoor kitchen area where some smokers were fired up and fed us a delicious meal. He then gave us a "blessing bag" (bag of fresh vegetables) and would not let us pay for two lantanas my life had picked out. Everything we heard and read about Hector is absolutely true. He is a man of faith and gives all glory to God. Everyone should stop in and visit the Secret Garden and Hector.

Not sure what is going on. It use to be a great place but now no one has been there to help or to even check a person out. I feel sure it has new ownership because Hector, I don’t think, would have done that. I’m not going back until someone actually answers a phone and tells me they are going to be there. It is too far a distance to drive for finding no one working. Such a shame because they have a lot of plants.

It was my first time there it's beautiful. I absolutely love it. Hector also gave me a blessing bag full of fresh veggies. Thanks Valerie for introducing me to the "Secret Garden"

I could write a book about this place and not even begin explain just how much of a blessing they are. About two months before we moved to Huntsville last year we stopped by here and found some incredible plants. We've already gotten most of our plants this season from local nurseries and the main thing I noticed were high prices and puny plants. My wife's mother passed and we were in town for the funeral and decided to get our favorite Italian food just down the road and my wife wanted to stop by Secret Garden just to breathe and enjoy the peace of such a beautiful nursery. We found extremely healthy plants at anywhere from half to a quarter the price that we paid at other nurseries. We picked out a few, and had a conversation with Hector that truly lifted both our spirits. A very nice young lady helped us find a few things and when we checked out she gave us two grocery bags of beautiful produce as a blessing. What they had no way of knowing was that every time we left the house, my wife's mom would ask us to bring back some "interesting produce." We both cried when we opened the bags.

Secret Garden is the best spot for plants, period. Just don't question that and go. But it's way beyond a simple nursery/landscape shop - it's a garden that heals your soul, and it's staffed completely by angels on earth.

We absolutely love coming here. There is soooo much to choose from. Often times things you won't find at other places. employees are so helpful, you often get free bags of fruits and veggies at checkout. My coworker said sometimes they even make you a free lunch.
It says they are closed Sundays, but we've been here many times on Sunday, we've also driven the 45 miles to get here and they're closed. Nonetheless worth the drive when open.

A bit confused by these reviews. A parking lot doesn't seem to exist and the place looks abandoned. Google stated they were open, but it looked like a junkyard and no one was present. Did this place close without updating their Google page?

Hector, the owner is WONDERFUL, and Kind! His secret garden truly has a wonderful selection of flowers, plants, mulch and anything you need for your yard. He is gracious to always give us vegetables after our purchase and his daughter and hired help offer wonderful suggestions for any type of plant you need. We purchase every spring from The Secret Garden. It truly deserves a 5 star rating.

Fantastic customer service. I had 50 bales of pine straw delivered to my driveway this morning, as promised. Highly recommend.

By FAR the best plant nursery I’ve ever been to, and I worked at a plant nursery for five years. This place has a wide range of high quality plants at insanely low prices. I wish we would have found them sooner rather than shopping anywhere else in BHM. The owner is amazing—super helpful and sweet. Right now they are giving out “blessing bags” with each purchase, which are bags full of locally grown produce for FREE. The nursery grounds are an oasis—my son loves to run around and explore. They are super family-friendly. Great kid-approved weekend outing!

I drove 45 minutes out of my way to go here. Gate was open and it said it was open. I walked around for 20 minutes calling out and following signs to cashier and no one was to be found. More than half of what I saw wasn't even priced and it was huge and overwhelming especially with no other human in sight. Never ever go here again. Wasted my time!! Prices i did manage to find were not as reasonable as people posted they were. Maybe because everything was already so big..nothing smaller you could grow and create for yourself.

The owner is one of a kind. He really cares about people and helping the community. Shop Local and support your local community! Don’t buy from a box store when you can support somewhere like the Secret Garden!

First class experience. Caleb is the young lad who helped me and his customer service skills should be commended. The Secret Garden has a major asset in that young man. I purchased a giant taro and absolutely love it. Highly recommend a visit.

Great variety of indoor and outdoor plants. Many different shapes and sizes. The atmosphere is also great. There is a lot of space and mazes of plants to walk through and observe/enjoy.

The staff here are wonderful compassionate people. They are very friendly, helpful and have a plethora of plant knowledge. I would buy from them any day of the week.

Do Not Pay This Man Beforehand or leave any item . I purchased a fountain / I was told he would deliver the item / the owner came to my location instead with a plant- mums- no fountain. I’m still waiting on the fountain.
What the owner did do is sell me a project $8,880.00 that he said if I paid in full he would start the following week.
This was August 24,2025 . Today is 12-23-20025 since that time I found out the project wasn’t even needed ; the things he said he’d give free were a lead to cheat me.

Don’t use this man or his services unless you check every price every word out of his mouth. I am filing a police report and I feel as if I was targeted .
