I was told I'm out of the area and would have to pay travel fees. So they waiting until they had a second client so we could split the costs I said great and schedule a appointment back in around June or July. Next thing you know we're in October and I get a call at 8 am minutes before I got to work no prior notice... we will be out there today to service your boiler... confused I say can we reschedule I had no notice.... I get back if we do that it'll be another couple months out. I say okay lemme talk to my job when I get in.... I get into talk with my supervisor explain to them that this wasn't planned and I may have to leave to get my boiler it's first service.
After I spoke with my job I called preferred back and told then okay it's fine what time might you be by.... Justin told me who works at preferred before noon. As I'm juggling my day around and working it's getting closer to noon no call.... I call preferred back Justin then tells me the technician had complications at the other clients house it'll be longer. Next thing you know it's 1pm I call again... just checking in blah blah blah Justin tells me it'll be closer to 2pm....
Finally at 3pm the technician shows up. Since my boiler was installed the year before and my house being a newer construction I knew it was going to be a relatively easy service for him. A hour and a half later he is done and o head back to work and explain to my supervisor how unprofessional this was and I'm sorry. Even though it wasn't my fault at all I was unaware prior of them coming and called 3 times only to be told he is working on it.
The icing on the cake of this whole experience is the 400$ Bill I was given. He charges me 2.5hour labor which was not right since it only took about a hour in a half... at 140$ a hour you do the math...
I called preferred to try and get then to work with me due to the not professional manner also the extra hour of wages I payed the technician. I was sternly told that the extra hour was the travel time.... for one I was never told I would be paying his hourly wage... I was told a travel fee.... I'm a hour away. So I was charged 140$ and the other client was charged the other 140$.... this technician was payed 280$ for driving. I understand he is just doing his job and had a rough day at the last job. But I would not recommend this place unless irs a emergency and you don't mind knowing what the bill will be. They will nickle and dime you and quite frank the front desk lady was a *****... just doing her job too I imagine.... 2/10 do not recommend... the job got done... not on time and not pleasant people -
Robert at Preferred Plumbing absolutely saved the day for me on extremely short notice. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and gave me advice that was in my best interests and without a thought to selling me anything. While his solution didn't do anything for their business, his honesty and integrity won any future business I can send their way. Highly recommend this outfit.

My experience with them has always been 5 stars. The only thing that would knock it down to 4 is not having someone on call for holidays or weekends. This being Alaska, the weather can be very unpredictable and quickly lose water or heat.

As far as my experience with their retail side, they have always been excellent to work with (especially Nick) and very helpful. Usually leave with the parts I need and feeling a bit more positive about my day. Thanks guys!

My house has an overheating problem. They were able to schedule my repair within three workdays. Their technician, Chris, arrived promptly. After hearing the symptoms, he checked the wall thermostat and then the zone valve. After I mentioned the upper valve had been a repeat problem and replaced several times over several years, he removed it and after checking it over showed me the problem parts, thoroughly describing why it wasn't working and why it was necessary to replace it.

My York heating system was on the fritz and no other business had the part I needed in stock not did they offer to order the part. Preffered Plumbing and Heating came to the rescue! They got me the correct part in 2 short days. I appreciate the friendly staff and prompt service. I highly recommend them.

They are awesome! They took care of our new water system out in Nikiski. Completely took out the old and made it look so much cleaner with the new install. Our water is great now and we have actual pressure. Which we havent had since we moved in last may.

The response time was quick and I was initially impressed when they answered the call and arrived in about 10 minutes to repair a domestic hot water tank leaking pipe. I had already secured the valve to stop the water flow and the tank is easily accessible. The repair was quite simple; solder a new fitting and replace/plug in a 24volt thermostat. All in all about a 10-15 minute job-max. I also had to provide a bucket and sponge for the tech as evidently he did not have one or just did not want to go to the van to get it. I did expect about a 200 bill just for the fast response and new thermostat. What I did not expect was an exorbitant amount of labor charge. I guess they have a 1 hour minimum policy of about 136 dollars, so my bill for this quick, simple fix was 288 dollars. Evidently they start their clock when the driver heads your way. This easy 10 minute job cost 136 bucks in labor so you do the math. So you may get your problem solved, but for sure; be prepared to pay. And pay big.
