Sanctuary has been the most unorganized and most unresponsive landscaping company that I have worked with ever. We are building a presidential pool and they contracted Sanctuary to re-lay our pavers and turf. It has been a nightmare from day one. Terrible communication between presidential and sanctuary. Neither one seemed to have the plans for our yard. Sometimes the trades would come out and have no idea what they were supposed to be doing. They did not communicate to us what plants needed to be taken out by us. Crews showed up to work but couldn’t because we weren’t notified to have plants taken out, which seemed to cause weeks of delay and even more lack in communication. CJ was great on our initial meeting but was highly annoyed when we asked about making changes to our plan, acting as if it was impossible to find our very generic Tierra Norte Pavers. He said he thought the current plans looked fine. It’s not his yard snd he won’t have to live with it. It was a giant pain to try to get invoicing for the new plans, which we ended up not doing anyways. The pricing for a small patch of additional pavers was outrageous. I’m addition to that total headache, they dumped sand and dirt for our job on 2/4 and it is now 3/16 and we “don’t have a date for install”. For a month and a half our neighbors have endured two massive piles of dirt that nearly go half way into the street and they are starting to complain. I do not blame them. Sanctuary installed our pool limestone over a month ago and has not come back to pick up extra pallets and materials and debris that has been sitting in our yard front. It is a complete eye sore. Thankfully, what work has been done has been of quality and the crews were very good about asking questions when they were clearly confused. I would absolutely not recommend this company. Period.

We recently put in a pool with Presidential pools, and Sanctuary was referred to us as the landscaping subcontractor. Different from the other reviews, we experienced far more challenges with Presidential than we did with Sanctuary (overall, lack of communication and single point ownership). CJ was assigned to our project and has always been timely with responses, ensuring we were followed up with, and confirming the work that was done was to our standards. He, in fact, was the only one throughout this process we knew we could count on. We used Sanctuary for the travertine decking, landscaping and BBQ update. So far (99% complete!), the yard looks really great and we are very happy with the work that was done. We would highly recommend using Sanctuary for your hard/softscape needs!

Sanctuary did our backyard after we had a poll put in and we are happy with the end result. We added rock, plants and artificial turf. C.J. was wonderful to work with. He was knowledgeable, very flexible and always responded to my phone calls or text messages. We also had some plants that didn’t survive the winter and they came out and replaced them. We will definitely use Sanctuary Landscaping again.

I was referred to Sanctuary Landscape by Presidential Pools when I started my pool project. I thought it would be convenient because they’re located in the same building. Never have I dealt with a such an unprofessional company.

I had been asking for weeks for a rough estimate when Sanctuary would begin their portion of the project as the pool build was nearing completion. Every single person in a 5 person email chain at Sanctuary ignored this simple question. Finally, mounds of granite, dirt and other supplies were dumped on the street in front of my house the weekend before Labor Day. I was home, yet no one that delivered the materials bothered to knock and ask me where to leave them. My driveway was completely empty and two neighbors complained about this mess.

This was my first impression of the Sanctuary as a whole - not once did anyone ever come out to look at my property before the landscaping began. Despite there being materials left all over my street, not a single person at Sanctuary could tell me when the project would begin. Not even a ballpark.

I counted over 14 times in my email when I asked when this project would begin. It still blows my mind that these people were all in the office together and could not even supply a ballpark estimate when it would begin. Mind you, I paid for all the work months in advance. They do not seem to assign a project manager, so it's anyone's guess how they coordinate the work that needs to be done.

Work finally began when people just showed up and started doing it - weeks after the materials had been spilling into the street. One of their workers noticed I didn’t have a water pressure regulator for the drip irrigation system. I would not have been hit with a $700 charge out of the blue for this had someone been out to my property before work began.

I can’t attest for the quality of the work compared to other landscape companies as this was my first time using one. I can say that the planters that were built were painted sloppy and weren’t sealed properly. The neighbor that I share a wall with came over to tell me that water was soaking through. Sanctuary sent someone to touch up the paint and seal the planters, months after the fact.

There are other portions of this project that I need corrected but it’s been months now and my emails are going unanswered. I am writing this review to warn others that your checks will be cashed but do not expect much effort or any communication from Sanctuary once your project begins - if you even are given a date for that. I would advise you to avoid this company and spend your money elsewhere.

Just like Rad, I’m posting 1 star because I can’t give negative stars. Like Rad, we were referred to Sanctuary when we bought our pool at Presidential Pools. Assured they could do what we wanted and found later they couldn’t so had to subcontract some work ourselves. Assured there would be coordination between these companies but that was false as well.
    1. Lack of timely, accurate and complete communication
    2. Slow to respond with design plans
    3. Lack of attention to detail- Too many errors and mistakes to list here.
    4. No project management- There was absolutely no coordination between the two companies. There was no Sanctuary project manager on site ever, just subs coming and going unsupervised.
    5. Wanted down payment early (June) to continue working on our design plan.

Our pavers have been falling out almost since they were installed in February with constant assurances they’d be fixed yet here we are at the end of March and not fixed yet.

This company has a long way to go to improve their star ratings.

We just finished our pool and backyard project with Presidential and Sanctuary. It has been a great pleasure working with CJ from day 1. He is very knowledgeable, professional and responsible. Our project took almost 6 months to finish, however, some delays were due to COVID. Managerial oversight and co-ordination with Presidential could have been better. CJ was our point person and never disappointed us. Our yard looks beautiful and the credit goes to CJ, Chad and their hard working crew. I am confident that Sanctuary will continue to show excellent workmanship with our project in future as well.

CJ Daley did a great job of putting our plan together! We absolutely love the way our yard turned out! We would rate him a 5 (and did on the survey provided by Sanctuary). Overall, Sanctuary as a company got less stars due to scheduling issues and a lack of communication during the construction phase of our pool and landscaping project. This doesn’t reflect on CJ - he was easy to work with and we do highly recommend him!

Sanctuary Landscaping did an amazing job on remodeling our front and back yards!!! As part of having a new pool built by Presidential Pools we decided to have our backyard remodeled and they recommended us to Sanctuary as one of their preferred partners. We met with CJ who was outstanding from day 1, he was attentive, kind, responsive and accommodating. He answered all our questions, made himself available, even outside regular business hours, he was proactive in anticipating, needs, concerns, and questions and came prepared with solutions. He was very non-pressure, he made solid recommendations, but never tried to force anything on us and even made suggestions to save us money! Our front and back yard look amazing now!!!! CJ designed the perfect yard to go with our new pool, did everything he could to save us money while helping create something we love!!! The entire process of dealing with Sanctuary was fantastic!!! Sanctuary deserves 5 Stars, CJ, Kerri, Collin, Chad, Mitch and everyone from Sanctuary took care of us as if we were family! I cannot say enough about how happy my wife and I are with the design, the work, and the customer service! I cannot say enough good things about CJ our project manager as he never let us down, the entire team at Sanctuary took care of everything and made sure we were happy!

Sanctuary company was referred to us by Presidential Pools. We had a better experience with Sanctuary than we did with Presidential Pools. It was a big job combining together with our pool so the job took longer but I’m giving Sanctuary a 5 star rating only because of the customer service I have received from Kerri. She has been very professional and responsive. She got all of our concerns addressed. Communication is key when working with a contractor. I like to be kept on the loop of things. Kerri got us on the schedule right away and when things were wrong the owner personally came out to see too. Overall experience, sanctuary did a great job designing our outdoor space.

I had a great experience with Sanctuary. They did this work as part of my pool project with Presidential. Excellent communication by all especially Kerri and I love my new backyard oasis!

The most unprofessional company i have ever worked with. Their employees left trash in our yard. They left rebar sitting in our front yard that we had to throw out. They messed up out Kool Deck so badly it had to be completely redone. They are extremely slow. They will dump rocks in front of uour house and do nothing dor weels until you complain. They qre only quick when it comes to picking up their check. I don't know why Presidential Pools works with them. They are awful. I wish I could give 0 stars.

We worked with Sanctuary Landscape through Presidential pools on our project. Asking for a turn key backyard on a new home build. We had an amazing experience with CJ! Communication with him via text/call was responsive and he was always there to answer my questions regarding process or delays in product times etc. due to 2020 situations. We've had typical settling, and cracking with items and it was a simple reach out and get on the schedule for warranty. You can't make it easier than that.

We recently worked with Kelton at Sanctuary to install our pool decking, and the results exceeded our expectations! He was fantastic to collaborate with, and we’re already planning to work with them again for additional pavers. The pricing felt reasonable, and their turnaround time was impressively fast.

I worked with CJ initially to design landscape in conjunction with Presidential Pools. That experience was good, but then CJ left. When it came time to do the actual work, it was a nightmare!! Never showed up when they said they would. When they did show up, they left unfinished work and never returned without calling and calling. They constantly used excuses for everything including not getting back to us, 3 months after pool is done, we are still waiting for punch list items to be done. Now our pavers are lifting and shifting because they never finished topping it with sand, Irrigation system was not put in properly and caused most of our plants to die. They say they’ll take care of it, but I guess we’ll see. They caused delays with our pool construction. They did a nice job on bbq island and firepit but painted it some off the wall color. We had to repaint. I will obviously be using a different landscaper for our front yard. Paid way too much money to have to spend so much of my time trying to contact them and get them to do what they had promised! At this point, I do not recommend!!!

We recently worked with Sanctuary Landscape on a landscaping project for our backyard, and the experience was overwhelmingly positive. Despite our project being relatively small, they approached it with professionalism and care.

Our project included hardscape marble tile across the back patio--as well as several larger pads throughout the back--a small fire pit, turf to serve more as an accent rather than a focal point, and crushed granite/rock for the front/sides/perimeter of the lot.

One of the standout aspects of working with Sanctuary Landscape was their seamless collaboration with our pool designer and builder. Their service teams worked well across trades, ensuring a cohesive process without unnecessary delays or miscommunications—a huge relief when managing multiple aspects of a backyard renovation.

Their pricing was another highlight—very reasonable for the high-quality materials and labor provided. We also appreciated their willingness to adapt as the project unfolded. As we refined our vision for the space, they were flexible and open to making changes, which made the experience much more enjoyable and collaborative.

Everything installed has been thriving since the initial planting. It’s clear they care about the longevity and success of their projects.

The only slight challenge I encountered was needing to proactively reach out for updates or information a few times. This may simply be a difference in communication style, as I like to stay highly involved and informed, but it’s worth noting for those who prefer more regular updates.

Overall, we're thrilled with the end result and would recommend Sanctuary Landscape to anyone in Gilbert, AZ, looking to transform their outdoor space. They are attentive, skilled, and genuinely invested in creating something beautiful and lasting.

Agreed with zero stars! This company should not be held in regard whatsoever. They are doing shoddy work, taking way too long, no communication. They don't follow the plans, don't give you what you want and That's just too bad, deal with it! The heads come out and fix the entire turf as it was slanting so far we were falling over in our chairs. Of course they argued with me at first and said it was fine until they actually came out and put eyes on it. Now, Sitting here a year after still so very disappointed.
I remove the original post due to them asking, and I shouldn't have! The pavers are coming up they didn't give me what I paid for as they cut my paid for turf in half and left it laying around the yard in big huge strips because they cut it wrong I have to do with several feet missing on my plan. Also paid for them to fix the irrigation in front yard, was never done. I have washed my hands of these people. I'm surprised presidential pools wants to put their recommendation to this company! ⛔🫏

Sanctuary was the sub for landscape travertine pavers with Presidential Pools- I specifically asked them to make sure they use paver base and remove the top soil (I live in an area with expansive soil). I left for work and came home 2 hours later and the entire job was about done. I was skeptical but there was a large crew here so thought they did what I asked. Well, turns out they laid no base hence why I have to re-level my travertine every year. Stopped by the office, they were very nice (hence the 3 star rating) but want me to pay over $1k to fix work that in my opinion was not done as I requested. They said not laying paver base is their standard, so buyer beware you will be leveling your pavers (a lot). I have other pavers next to the travertine what was done correctly and they have been there 5 years longer and are not sinking.

CJ was our Project Manager and he was awesome from day 1. Very professional and always responded in a timely manner. We told him the few things we had in mind and he took care of the rest. We couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out! All while staying well within our budget as well. It was truly a refreshing experience working with CJ and Sanctuary Landscape. Thank you for everything!

I am not sure where to start here as Sanctuary Landscape came riding in on a white horse to save my day, my yard, and my sanity. After a whole bunch of issues with the builder of my home, my pool and yard was delayed almost a year. Fortunately, Sanctuary was able to create a beautiful backyard for me, fixing issues that were not theirs to fix yet the big ol boss of this company handled my job personally. He was attentive. Incredibly helpful. I felt heard and seen by this company as I had been put through hell by my home builder (Mike Maguire) They finished up my house pool landscaping and yard and I couldn't be happier. Their pricing was reasonable. They responded quickly when things needed to be looked at, adjusted, or fixed. Honestly. Best Company Around for your landscape needs. And the personal attention, care and concern cannot be beat!!

I worked with Sanctuary in conjunction with Presidential Pools. Our experience was great from day one. CJ designed a plan that I was happy with and accommodated me when I wanted to make changes. They needed to make a slight change close to the end of our project, but he made sure that he met our wants and made us happy. Kerri was a dream to work with when it came to scheduling. She had to deal with Presidential Pools lack in communication and was still able to deliver on time! We are so happy with the quality work they have done and look forward to enjoying our backyard oasis for years to come!!

If i could give negative stars I would. The MOST horrendous experience I have ever had with a company. We worked with Sanctuary because they were recommended by Presidential but I am not sure why such a large and good pool company would work with such a terrible partner. It started with Kelton coming out to our yard to learn what we wanted to do. He then put a plan together and its not what you explained so you have to redo the whole plan. We then went into the office and SAT DOWN with him and walked through the plan and where we want plants, lights, pavers, etc and they make you sign a contract when you walk out of there... this is where they trap you. I then got pictures of what we walked through and was excited for the project. Well that excitement didnt last long. When they came out to do the project they had the WRONG plan with them, so we had to re-do everything on the spot and as you are asking them to re-do things they start to tell you that will be incremental cost and so will that, so now you have to decide do you want to pay more to get what you want or go with a plan you didnt agree to. They then work slow as snails... it took OVER 30 days to do the project. I have redone my backyard before and it took 1 week. It took presidential LESS time to build the entire pool then it did for Sanctuary to do my landscaping. THEN when they were done they left their garbage all in the front of my house for A WEEK!!! I texted and called multiple times and never got a response. Oh yeah... if you want to get in touch with them, GOOD LUCK, they dont respond. They also told me 2 weeks ago they were done with our project, and the side of our yard wasnt raked, and made to look nice and our paver walk way looked like it had waves in it...They also told me I wouldnt need extra rocks for my project and then when they were "finished" they said we needed rocks and charged us a change order for that too of almost $1k. Tell Presidential you will go with your own landscaping company. I promise, save yourself the headache and stress

Just look at the other reviews and it will show you, many people feel the same way I did. It also shows the company they are, that they had to "defend" themselves in the below response rather than taking it on the chin and making changes.
