We had a great experience using Sonoran Landesign—their team was reliable, knowledgeable, and truly delivered beyond our expectations.

We chose to work with Sonoran Landesign based on the strength of their original proposal, and the finished landscape does look beautiful. However, the process was more frustrating and time-consuming than it should have been.

During our initial meeting, we shared a clear budget and agreed to consider some upgrades after discussion. But when the first plan was presented, the total came in at more than twice the original budget — without any real sense of pricing transparency along the way. We had to cut several items to bring the scope down, but still ended up spending nearly twice what we initially planned. We would have appreciated a clearer picture of estimated costs upfront, so we could make informed choices early in the process.

The front yard plans that were submitted to our HOA required significant revision. Almost every plant and tree had to be changed, and the design included elements that were explicitly not allowed — such as decorative riprap. It felt as though the HOA guidelines hadn’t even been reviewed before submission. This led to a full resubmission and added weeks of delay.

In addition, the pathway pavers that were installed were a different color than what was shown in the approved renderings. The HOA had approved the rendering based on matching the driveway pavers — but what was installed was not approved and had to be completely replaced, resulting in an additional month-long delay. We were told not to involve the HOA, which we felt was misleading since we were expected to follow their guidelines.

Other adjustments were needed as well. These were eventually addressed, but added to the timeline. A 4–6 week project ended up taking about 5½ months. We wouldn’t work with Sonoran Landesign again or recommend them.

Karlie was fantastic in helping me remodel my house and backyard. Very knowledgeable and talented at what she does. I would highly recommend her!

Sorry, forgot to add the week delay for having my pool resurfaced with a house full of guests after being questioned every step of the way. And while I appreciate the one plant being replaced “when it got cooler” after being reminded, don’t write up like the entire backyard wasn’t a problem from the turf being crushed by the pebble sheen installers, the view fencing being ruined and having to be repainted by your team because the previous 2 times the Ramada and BBQ was painted, the workers cleaned their brushes on the fence, the “grout” situation that was re-“caulked” 2 separate times and STILL wasn’t right and I had to have an outside professional come in to fix it. The water feature grout needing to be worked on, our skimmer tile coming undone, the turf having to be replaced due to being crushed and the hoops that had to be jumped through for that, and our tile at the BBQ having some weird discoloration issues as well. 4 OTHER homeowners ALL IN A ROW can’t ALL BE MISTAKEN, but thanks for replacing the one plant when it got cooler and the 2 trees your company put in wrong to start with and putting a door back on our outside bbq that came off 6 months after it was installed within the week. Good job, guys.

We made our down payment in July. We were promised a completion early November, which got pushed to mid November, which then got pushed to early December and now it is nearly January and the project is not complete. They have asked for a final payment, even though the project is not complete. I am still waiting for items that were included in my contract that were swapped for a lesser product without my knowledge or approval. At this time, I would discourage anyone from using these people. They are very slow. The workmanship is poor. Even though their designer was exceptional, the people in the field doing the work are substandard and it is very frustrating that I cannot get the items I paid for in my contract without a fight

We originally contracted with Sonoran for our front & back yard when our house was being built. They listened to our input & the result exceeded expectations. Even when issues arose (warranty work) or we had questions, they were helpful & quick to respond. Abe & Tricia were particularly great to work with.

Sonoran landesign did an incredible job transforming my outdated pool and yard.  I couldn't be happier with the results.  Their expertise and attention to detail truly brought my vision to life.  If you are looking for a professional team that delivers high quality work, definitely call them for your next project.

This is the 2nd time we have used Sonoran Landesign for our pool and landscape design and construction and both times they exceeded our expectations. From the initial design to construction everything went exceptionally well. If we move again, we would not hesitate to use them again. We would highly recommend them!

I contracted with Sonoran Landesign in April 2024 to have both front and back yards custom landscaped at my new-build home in Fountain Hills, AZ. This included many native Arizona plants and various species of cacti as well as a custom-built cabinet and countertop with a grille and beverage refrigerator, a large 8-foot diameter firepit, a faux lawn, and installation of a faux basalt fountain.

I specifically worked with Robert Parton, who is an incredibly talented landscape architect and a wizard at detailed graphic design . . . I was VERY IMPRESSED with my design phase of the entire project.

In October 2024, the construction and implementation of the project began, which allowed me the privilege of meeting and working with Alvin Ross, who was my assigned project manager. And thus, the excellence really came to life with all landscaping projects being completed exactly as promised on schedule or earlier than scheduled, and beautifully crafted and finished.

Throughout the entire experience, I witnessed the incredibly hard working Sonoran landscaping team and the long hours of daily work. The work ethic exhibited by the entire Sonoran landscaping team was incredible . . . I didn't think labor employees with such a dedicated work ethic existed anymore. Each of these guys is truly an artist and knows his craft well. My entire project was completed early, per contract, in February 2025.

I am now in my warranty phase, and the customer service and support remains consistently excellent. I highly recommend Sonoran Landesign, not just for the quality of design, craftsmanship, and project execution, but for the dedicated professionals that comprise this great company. Thus, my special ATTA-BOYS and KUDOS go out to Robert Parton, Alvin Ross, and each of the talented and very hard working team of landscaping laborers/artisans. Sonoran Landesign absolutely ROCKS!!

I want to give a huge shout out to Sonoran Landesign for their professional design and reconstruction of my backyard. We are extremely pleased on the end result of how the process from the design to the installation and finally onto getting our punch list items have been handled. We had our backyard done by Sonaran Landesign and they did an amazing job. The travertine tile throughout the entire backyard looks incredible, and the built-in outdoor bar really transformed the space. The astro turf adds a clean, low-maintenance look, and the modern touches throughout bring everything together perfectly. Our backyard now feels like a resort, and everyone who comes over can’t stop talking about it. The team was easy to work with, and we’re extremely happy with the results. We highly recommend them

I posted a 1 star review earlier. Things have changed a bit and I was able to speak to the new ownership, Jason Williams. Jason has been very helpful and has moved are project along at a great pace. We only have a few items remining now, so fingers crossed we get to the finish line. Once they get the correct crew on site and take time the projects are finished nicely. The consumer must be aware that they expect the consumer to pay subcontractors directly. This is an odd business model and would make it much easier on the home owner if they would be the general contractor on the entire project so the owner only had one vendor to deal with. Project management for Sonoran still needs some fine tuning and better communication with the home owner.

We had a fantastic experience with Abe and the crew from Sonoran.

I contacted them wanting a full overhaul of our front and backyard. We’ve had Bermuda grass lawn in both front and back and lost a beloved AZ ash a few years ago. The designs provided exceeded expectations. I was especially picky about the use of lower water use plants and natives and my wife wanted a more functional and aesthetically pleasing modern look. Somehow, they were able to accommodate both our needs and the cost was very fair.

We had the work done last fall and I just contacted them this past week about one of the mesquites looking poor. They agreed to replace the tree due to a disease and I was surprised by the dedication to customer satisfaction.

Highly recommended.

Karlie did an absolutely amazing job with the design — she was creative, responsive, and so easy to work with. She transformed what was once just dirt into a stunning backyard that everyone describes as having a resort feel. Her vision and attention to detail brought our dream space to life.

Alvin and his crew were fantastic on the landscape installation, tile, and masonry work. Their craftsmanship was exceptional — they were thorough, conscientious, and took real pride in their work. Everything was done beautifully and with great care.

Jason and his team built our gorgeous pool and created the perfect water features. We absolutely love them! Jason spent a great deal of time walking me through everything, answering every question with patience, and has continued to be incredibly helpful and available even after completion.

The only challenging part was that the project took a bit longer than we hoped — we were so eager to have it done when we moved in! But honestly, good things take time, and seeing the finished product made it clear that it was 100% worth the wait.

We highly recommend this team to anyone looking to create an outdoor space that truly feels like an oasis. Our backyard has become our favorite place to be — a true dream come true!
