General Contractor reviews in Tucson, Arizona

2/2016 I Hired Crest roofing for a $12k complete reroof of my home. I had two ponding areas on the roof that needed repair- only one was addressed. They refused to fix the other and now I have filed a complaint with the ROC. The crew spilled hot tar down the sides of my house & my yard was littered with scrap roofing material & trash (Circle K cups, food wrappers, Gatorade bottles, etc).
If you do hire them hope they don't have to use any wood because they charge $5ft per foot for it.
That means they charge $100 for a 2x4x20 piece of wood that they buy at Home Depot for $9.
And $50 for a sheet of plywood that they bought for $12. A few of these installed and your bill will skyrocket from $12k to $15k as mine did.
Another sly billing trick was Crest billed me for all new roof T-jack vents and then reinstalled my old ones. They also cut a cable TV conduit so my living room no longer has access to satellite TV. I spoke with the owner Mike Blass all I got was arrogance & excuses with no remedy.
As for the existing ponding area- I was told to "call back when it leaks.." Unbelievable....
As for all the "positive" reviews you see posted on this site- they offer gift cards to customers to post a positive response and buy their way out of poor roofing to a good review. Well, they aren't buying me.
I highly recommend you stay away from Crest Roofing. -
I've used Blass a couple of times; in both cases they were courteous and professional. Someone out quickly to give an estimate, and the work was done on time for a reasonable price - what more can you ask?! On the first job we had a small leak a year out so later and I called Blass. Again someone came out quickly and patched it at no charge. on the second job a month or so ago there was one spot where the elastomeric hadn't adhered properly. Again they came out right away and fixed it. Overall I'm very satisfied with their work.

Beware, Crest Contracting (Roofing Division) is a scam. They are not a real roofing company. Go see for yourself, visit their address. There is no Crest Roofing at the address listed, only a RE MAX office. There is no roofing business yard.
If you are fool hardy enough to request a quote you will get one, but with considerable legal-ease boilerplate in it with enough flex that the price quoted for a job may only be the beginning bid. Estimates, by persons that have not come to your house, seem to be made by sticking their finger in the air and feeling what direction the wind blows. They ask for 1/2 the quote upfront, but who know if they will ever show up.
Make your life easier and stay away from this place. -
The folks at Crest Roofing were very courteous, professional, and prompt. They did a great job repairing the roof and coordinating with us and the electrician/ handyman we hired. Thank you, Wayne and your staff for a job well done.

We purchased our home over the summer and for our home inspections, we had SEVERAL roof inspectors come out to inspect the roof. We noticed water leak marks on the ceilings of the house and all of the contractors that came out sent us cheap, $300 estimates with replacing a few broken tiles as the solution. One quoted us over $4,000 and said the entire roof needed to be replaced but sent no proof that he did a thorough inspection. It didn't feel right and since our inspection period was almost over, we were getting nervous and almost pulled out of the sale. I looked for additional inspectors and thankfully found this company. Mike Blass scheduled the inspector at a convenient time and I got a call 30 minutes prior to arrival, giving me enough time to get to the house for the inspection vs some companies that give you a 3 hour window and you never know when they will arrive.
The inspector (unfortunately I can't remember his name) was there on time and had no problem lifting up roof tiles to look at the underlayment. He really got into the roof while other contractors only did a superficial inspection. He checked the entire roof and took pictures so we could see for ourselves. Sure enough the entire underlayment of one of the biggest sections of the house needed to be replaced, but not the entire thing as another contractor had stated. The pictures and estimate were forwarded to our realtor and we were able to get the seller to pay for the entire repair. The roof was pretty bad. I couldn't believe some companies stated a $300 repair (replacing a few broken tiles) would fix the problem.
The crew that came out to do the work was awesome. We had already moved in by then but Jeff, the foreman, was really friendly and made sure we were satisfied. He and his crew were always on time and kept me informed every step of the way. Despite having an issue with some wasps towards the end, they completed the job on time knowing that rain was forecasted. Jeff didn't just shrug it off, he really took care of our house as if it was his own. I appreciated that. This is the ONLY roofing company in Tucson that I personally trust and would ever recommend. -
What a great company!! I hired them to build an RV garage which was built ahead of schedule and under budget last year. That project went so well that this year I had them handle my home remodel. Same results. Complete home remodel 3,200 SF done in less than two months and under budget. Louis Blass the owner addressed every issue that came up and most importantly got my home finished. Highly recommend this company.

Crest Contracting Company are awesome!!!! They Installed a new flat roof on my home. I use to have severe ponding water issues, but thanks to Crest Contracting, I no longer have to worry about my roof at all. I use to get so nervousness and worried every time it rain. I really loved doing business with this company. This company Really stands behind their written and verbal commitment, that means a lot to me. As a Realtor, I have dealt with many contractors over twenty years who are not responsible and do not stand behind their work. These people are committed to exceeding their clients expectations.
Thank you for everything,

Crest gave me a metal roof bid which was more than twice the square footage of other bids. When I tried to inquire about it I couldn’t get a return call or email from Thomas.
I finally contacted the woman who initially scheduled the appointment for me who checked in to it. She got back to me with a simple reply that they would not be able to do my job.
I felt like it was shady and never did find out why. -
Blass Roofing did a superior job on our skylight replacement and roof sealing/coating at a reasonable price. We have a foam roof, which some companies refused to work on, and a few of our skylights were buried in foam. Blass Roofing figured out a plan and executed it very well. Even with some torrential monsoons, we've had no leaking. Thank goodness! The two crews (skylight crew and roof crew) seemed very knowledgeable and professional. When there was a small issue on the inside of a skylight, Wayne followed up to fix it. We will definitely refer friends and family to Blass Roofing in the future!

All the employees of Blass Roofing were very professional. The price was exceptionally reasonable. My home's new roof looks great and has stood up to torrential storms without any problems. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Blass Roofing.

This monsoon season my roof was damaged by a vicious rain storm and it began to take on water. My family and I couldn't pinpoint the exact spot where the water was coming from but thanks to the team at Blass Roofing, they were able to find the spot and correct the issue. It has rained since then and there hasn't been any more leaks! Blass Roofing did a great job and they were very professional!

I was in a desperate situation to get a metal roof repaired on a residential home with a closing date fast approaching.
All the roofers in town were booked up. Sorry.
Tammy and Gabby in the office at Blass Roofing treated me as an individual and not as a usual customer. They watched along the way and did what they could to get my roof repaired by fitting me in between other scheduled jobs. They were timely, accommodating and responsive - more than I've ever experienced with other vendors in my real estate career.
The job was finished on time, I was consistently kept in the loop and the guys did a great job. Wow, I highly recommend Blass!! -
Pros: Kind Working Crews, Bigger Company, Quality of Work
Cons: Speed, Customer Service, Communication, Price
I hesitated to write this review, because typically people only write reviews when there was an issue, but I feel Crest's reviews are a bit too rosey for the service I received.
I had my whole roof redone this time, and I've had Crest do small repairs in the past. Small jobs have been done very well, and the quality of work is good. They've always been responsive in the past, which made this expirience odd.
Response times were slow in general. We waited almost a month after paying half and when they told us the work would begin before even being contacted. Then the roofing guys took multiple weeks for a job that, I believe, should have been completed in a week, 2 weeks tops.
I was the one who had to point out missing work in the quote, which should have been examined before beginning work. The person on the phone was very pushy about payment, which I paid cash when appropriate. 1 day notice IS NOT enough time.
Price wise I believe they're a bit on the high side. Liability insurance was important to me, and I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for. I was willing to pay a bit more to work with someone I'd had good work done with before.
Most of the issues I faced were communication related, and the staff does always seem knowledgeable and competent about roofing things in particular. Overall, as long as my new roof holds up, I'd probably use Crest again because trustworthy contractors are so hard to find, but there is definite room for improvement. -
After a severe "summer monsoon" in Tucson, Az., the roof on my sister's house took a terrible beating. I contacted Mike Blass of Blass Roofing and inquired about necessary repairs. Mike immediately accompanied me to my sister's home and assessed the damage. He informed me what necessary repairs needed to be done. As I had already obtained several estimates, I decided to have Blass Roofing perform the necessary repairs. The work crew arrived promptly at the scheduled time. All of the workers were professionally dressed, and immediately began their job. I am very pleased to report that they were very courteous to myself and family members There were other hard rains after the repairs and I am pleased to say the roof held up flawlessly. I would highly recommend Blass Roofing for your roofing needs.

We called several roofing companies and their estimates were ridiculously over priced and many were unable to come to our residence until many weeks after. A friend referred us to Blass Roofing and they were able to come to our home and give us an estimate the following day. They gave us a terrific price and were able to start the work right away. The staff did a great job and were very knowledgable when we had questions. I highly recommand Blass Roofing for a great price, friendly staff and wonderful results.

I started off having a great experience but it quickly turned negative. The installation was fast and efficient and I was pleased with how fast is was done. We had discussed what needed done such as color of shingles and the ply wood that needed replacing as it was rotting. Unfortunately during the final inspection, it was noticed that NONE of the wood had been replaced, none of the vents had been painted and the workers left shingles hanging off the side of the house and there was garbage everywhere. I am very disappointed in the quality of the work and the deceit that happened with the wood replacement. We had to ask for another day for them to come out to replace the wood that should have been done the first time. Ask for photos to prove work has been done appropriately.

I had the fascia of my house replaced. Very well done, on time, done quickly and for a great price. They also inspected the roof, found and fixed problems, and applied 2 new elastomer coatings. I am totally happy with their work and highly recommend them.

I am a real estate agent here in Tucson, and am always careful with whom I choose to recommend to clientele. I have been using the Blass Roofing company for nearly 20 years now. They are, and have always been, a very upstanding and reliable firm providing quality work, clean up, follow up and diagnoses on the fly when you need 'em most. I have never hesitated to recommend them with confidence! I have enjoyed using their services personally, as well. They service all roof types, and have a huge cache of experience. Thank you Blass Roofing!

These guys were awesome! This was our first ever roof replacement on the first house that we bought. Naturally , we had a lot of questions to be answered. I am so glad that we went with Crest. We did the whole 3 estimates thing and Crest came in so much lower than the competition. I actually had to call Crest and ask why. We walked through the estimate that they wrote and compared it to the competition and Crest was doing everything that they were, just at a lower cost. I travel a lot for work and they were able to stay in contact with me via email throughout the entire process. (Thank you, Tammy!). We had an opportunity to speak with the owner and he gave us some very good, no nonsense advice, as to why the 50 year non-prorated warranty was a must (Buy it. Seriously, it was the best $200 that we've ever spent). The crew was efficient, professional and very communicative. Now that our roof is good for the next 50 years, I hope that we never have to buy another house. But, if we do, and there is roof work needed, we are skipping the 3 estimates rule and going straight to Crest.
Thanks, again!

I would like to say that I had a pleasant experience with Blass Roofing. After speaking to the Representative, we set up a day for them to come out to give me an estimate, which was affordable. They were honest and did the job they promised. I would recommend them to anyone who is having roof leak problems.
