We live downwind from the Eaton fires and decided to have our air ducts cleaned. I contacted Arcadia Chimney Sweep & Air Duct based on their positive Google reviews. I was quoted $99 for air duct cleaning and $69 for the dryer vent, and they scheduled me for the next day.

However, my experience was disappointing from the start.
1. Bait-and-Switch Pricing: When the technicians arrived, they conducted a brief inspection and informed me that “supply duct cleaning” was not included in the $99 quote. This was never explained when I booked the service, and it felt deceptive. They claimed the supply ducts were dirty and needed a deep cleaning for $950. They offered to clean 7 of the 10 supply ducts in my home at that price, along with taping two cuts in the return duct and deodorizing.

2. Poor Workmanship: For the so-called “deep cleaning,” they used a standard air compressor to blow into the ducts without removing the registers, brushing the insides, or wiping down the ducts. Debris was left to fall onto the floor, and they didn’t clean up afterward. I had to ask them to return and tidy up the mess.

3. Misrepresentation of the Company: When the invoice was presented, I realized the technicians weren’t from Arcadia Chimney Sweep but a company called Pro Star Services, based in Woodland Hills. They claimed to be a “sister company,” but since I booked through Arcadia Chimney Sweep, I hold them responsible for the subpar service.

4. No Accountability: I called Arcadia Chimney twice to speak to either the owner or a supervisor. Both times, I was told someone would call me back within 24-48 hours, but no one did. Instead, I heard back from Sam at Pro Star Services, who had been the lead on the job. Despite showing him photos of the filthy ducts after their supposed “deep clean,” he insisted their work was sufficient. After much back-and-forth, he finally agreed to send his team back.

5. Unprofessional Cleanup: While they did a more thorough cleaning on their second visit, they again left debris on the floor and dirty handprints on the vents, doorways, and ceiling.

I regret ever contacting Arcadia Chimney Sweep. I was in a rush due to the fires and relied on their positive reviews, but this experience was stressful and disappointing. Based on follow-up calls to other duct cleaning companies, it’s clear Arcadia Chimney/Pro Star Services did not meet industry standards for a true “deep cleaning.”

Save yourself the trouble and avoid this company.

I’m coming out of a bit of a brain fog due to depression the past year so I’ve had a lot of things collecting dust and I’ve been smoking a ton of weed indoors. Finally scheduled a few dates with some new and past flames so I ordered a bunch of stuff from Amazon and Target to rearrange my space and couldn’t help but notice how dusty the air was and realized the air purifier I just got wasn’t going to be enough. I’ve never had this type of service done before so I was not sure what to expect. I didn’t put much thought into it so I guess I got lucky and found these guys. Not much to say about the process, which I think is a good thing, but the results are certainly incredible and no doubt pass the eye and the smell test. I’m not horrified by the amount of particles in the air when as sunlight gets in and I don’t get hit with the frat house dorm room smell when I return home after being out all day. I know people will feel like even basic things like air and sunlight just hit different when they’re happier, but for me, it’s not figurative and there is definitely a difference. I’d be lying if I said I was coughing up a lung before, but I do think the air is noticeably crisper after servicing. The process was straightforward and pretty painless, which I was worried about due to needing to work from home. Professional, timely, and communicated well.

We had a good professional tech come to clear out the vents in our newly bought used house. Safe to say, the last owners never bothered with them. The tech knew his stuff and got everything back to fresh condition. The air feels cleaner. Wife says no more dust headaches while she stays home. She works from home and kept complaining about the air, and I would occasionally feel it too while close to the vents. We also had them clean the chimney while they were at it.
