Constraction reviews in Berkeley, California

I had the Nicholas Roofing team inspect my roof and quote a replacement. They were prompt to reply, reliable in showing up and communicating when they said they would, and offered a competitive quote and detailed quote and report on the state of my roof. They incorporated details I wanted done, such as adding insulation and sky lights to my roof, and made this conversation easy. Most importantly to me, they were honest about the level of work my roof needed, and thanks for their honesty, I learned my roof had a few more years in it before I needed to replace it - this is what I am looking for in a great contractor. Months later when I asked for a written assessment of their inspection for another use, they just emailed it over no questions asked, and didn't try to upsell me into a new inspection or something. I really appreciate this team as honest, reliable. Nicholas roofing will be my first quote when it's time to get my roof done.

As a local realtor, I'm so grateful to have Nicholas Roofing in my pocket. Nick is the kindest, most generous, and warm spirited family entrepreneur I can image — just the kind of business I feel good referring my people to. Easy communication, quick response time, and thorough roofing inspection. Look no further than this awesome local business for all your roofing needs.

Nick just came to inspect my roof on my one-family house in El Cerrito. He took me on to the roof and walked me through my roof problems patiently and at length. Because of him, I know about how many years left I have, what work I can do to extend the life, and how much replacement will cost. He also gave me a reference for a solar panel company to do roof-related work since Sunpower (our installer) is out of business. In short, he was incredibly experienced, thorough, and honest! I probably don't need to replace my entire roof now, but when I do, I'll likely look to Nick to do it.

The last year has been eventful and difficult to say the least. There was a fire in the unit above us earlier last year and, while the fire department caught it before the fire spread, all the water used to put out the fire poured down into our unit through the walls, ceiling light fixtures, vents, etc. After the water damage remediation, our unit was down to the studs.

This is our first home and we had been living here for over 10 years without making any drastic changes. We had no idea how to choose a contractor to basically rebuild the inside of our home. Luckily my friend recommended BuildMark, Inc. I gave Emanuel at BuildMark, Inc. a call and I could immediately tell he was going to be great to work with; Calm, to the point, honest, communicative, and not trying to sell me anything.

He walked us through the process and shared his knowledge to help us make difficult decisions and even took the decision reins fully when we asked.

His pricing was so transparent and everything made sense. We are so very grateful to have been connected to a kind, easy going, contractor who made a difficult situation bearable. We are back in our home and we love it! We will be customers for life!

The team at BuildMark is incredibly responsive and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the work!

Great communicator, helped me with a complete kitchen and bathroom renovation!!! Will definitely recommend to all my friends!!!

Very professional work overall and excellent communication. Can always count on them to help tackle projects in a timely manner and at a fair price.

BuildMark was super easy to contact. It gave me piece of mind knowing that I could call and get updates! Very knowledgeable and easy to work with.

We just had our kitchen remodel done by BAPC. We are so impressed by the job they did. They excedeed our expectations. Our new kitchen is amazing. Thank you again Emanuel and Alan!

BuildMark did an excellent job at building my deck. They were responsive, professional, fast and reasonably priced. I recommend them and will use their services again in the future.

Excellent workmen. They have done multiple jobs for us from minor handyman work to complete kitchen rebuild. Everything done well and quickly. They are very knowledgable regarding building codes and construction techniques, and they communicate clearly and thoroughly.

BuildMark just finished updating the electrical panel in my 75-year old home. I would definitely recommend them! They are professional, friendly, and kept me informed during each step of the project!

We've worked with Emanuel on three house projects now - a dual bathroom remodel in 2019, drywall repair / painting in 2019, and new electrical for our recent kitchen remodel. He answered all our naive construction questions, pointed us in the right direction to source all our materials, and did beautiful work in our home.

We have used Bay Area Pacific Construction twice on small remodeling projects to repace exterior doors and windows and replace lat and plaster walls with sheet rock and insulation. The company is run by 2 brothers and they are professional and trustworthy. They have done excellent work on our place and perhaps the best review I can give is that they keep a copy of our house key and we will continue using them for our home projects.

We can thank Emanuel for the construction of a beautiful new bathroom in our home. He navigated lengthy and complicated permit challenges, and was easy to work with. We would gladly work with him on future projects.

Emanuel and Alin are two brothers who work together and make an excellent team. They remodeled our kitchen and bathroom, and updated the electrical system in our home. They are good communicators, reliable, very professional, and great at what they do. We are very happy with the results. And they finished the job on time.

Emanuel was over at a neighbor's place doing a drywall job and I asked him if he'd mind taking a look at a leaking window at my house. Emanuel came over in 10 minutes, gave me a rough quote of what it would take to replace the window, and then offered to seal the leaky area for free, right then and there. I took him up on his very generous offer, and he came back and did the job in 15 minutes. I couldn't have been happier with this interaction.

The previous owner of my home has also used BuildMark for some deck work, electrical work, etc., and has nothing but positive things to say. I couldn't recommend BuildMark highly enough.

Emanuel and Alin have done multiple jobs, large and small, for us over the last 5 years. They have remodeled 2 bathrooms to the studs including all plumbing and electrical work, updated the the entire electrical system in our home, and performed numerous smaller jobs (installing new doors, etc). Their work in all phases of these projects has been consistently excellent. Furthermore, their prices have been reasonable and they've been a pleasure to work with. We're in Berkeley where the inspectors are sometimes strict, and we've never had any permitting issues (in Emanuel's words, "if you do the job right, you don't have to worry about passing the inspection"). Finally, they are very considerate of our home, taking care to minimize the impact of the construction and making sure our indoor cat doesn't get out! We'd highly recommend Bay Area Pacific Construction for your remodeling project.

Friends recommended BuildMark and when I saw the work I was sold! Emanuel was incredibly knowledgeable, professional and easy to work with. He turned our vague plans for remodeling a small bathroom into beautiful possibilities, and when we ask for additional changes he quickly came up with a nice alternative. We highly recommend him and the company!

Buildmark remodeled my kitchen in a 1920s bungalow. The job entailed installing a new tile floor, cabinets, tile backsplash, exhaust vent to the roof, and toe kick. They built a custom pantry into the wall, and a laundry table over my W/D. They moved and installed ceiling lights and outlets. I bought custom fronts for my Ikea cabinets, which they also painted in the colors I wanted. Emanuel is very easy to work with - communicative, and brought me in for necessary decisions. When something didn't look right to me, he immediately set to correcting the issue so we were satisfied. His team was friendly and hard-working. I'm loving my new kitchen. I appreciated Emanuel's detailed contract, so I knew exactly what I was paying for as the job unfolded. I would use Buildmark again (and I am!)

Emanuel and his crew at BuildMark were simply fantastic. He far exceeded our expectations and we couldn’t be happier with our new kitchen. His communication was excellent, very professional in his approach, helped us problem solve a few hiccups that came up (which are inevitable in any remodel project!), kept the workspace tidy every day, and we genuinely enjoyed working with him. It was very clear he takes a lot of pride in his work and is very detail oriented. He’s a very positive, kind and caring person which made having him around our house every day pleasant. His team worked so hard and did a fantastic job! Couldn’t recommend BuildMark highly enough.
