Paving Contractor reviews in Berkeley, California

A equipe Smartscaping é meticulosa, completa e perfeccionista.

The Smartscaping team is meticulous, thorough and perfectionistic. We hired Jonny and his team to renovate our backyard earlier this year after unsuccessful attempts to hire other companies to develop our project. Since the beginning of our renovation, we have had exceptional professional support from the design suggested by Johnny, the execution of the project throughout its completion. I felt very confident that the result would be beyond expectations. There was no need to hire a designer or other professional. His team even suggested the material and enlisted other professionals needed such as a plumber and electrician, which saved me time and a lot of money. Best of all, a project that the other companies estimated would take an average execution time of 6-7 months to our surprise everything was up and running in 3 months and we began hosting social events. I was blown away by their knowledge of renovation and the professionalism of their staff. . I think the photos speak more than my words of thanks – here's the before and after.

Great crew. Quality work, and fast. Would definitely hire them again.

Did great work on our brick front walkway, side path and back patio. Recommend if you're in the market for hardscaping.

Johnny and his crew did an amazing job in transforming our backyard and side yard! The turf, walkways, and patios were beautiful! Thank you.

Johnny and his crew did an excellent job on our backyard. They removed old concrete, and laid down new pavers, our yard looks beautiful!

Everything about the interaction was extremely positive. The workmen were a pleasure and I am extremely satisfied (and also extremely picky) with the work they did to create a new walkway to my front door. Would highly recommend.

I’ve had lots of problems with the landscaping that Johnny has done for us. The turf started buckling/rolling pretty much right away, which he said was from the weather and he came and fixed. The driveway is on a hill and he initially didn’t put anything to support the pavers and they started to slide and break off, which he also had to come and fix. Later on the sealant between my pavers started to dissolve. He came to fix but without calling or scheduling. I was on night shift and asleep and BOTH cars were in the driveway, so he fixed the part that he could see and never came back for the rest. Now I’m stuck with weeds growing through my turf and my pavers because of the cracks. His projects and pictures look great right after, but the sustainability isn’t there and that’s just what we all want and pay for.

Wow! These guys do amazing work! 40 feet of two different drainage pipes tied into the old corrugated piles. They installed a catch basin and cemented it in place beautifully. Had to dig thru hard clay and move the large gravel. Perfect slope, took the time to make everything right at the connectors to the old system. Highly recommend. Good communication from Johnny. Super polite installers. Even washed down the driveway. Thank you!

Smartscaping made a beautiful redwood fence and two gates for the backyard property. There were some challenging aspects to the job, but they did the right thing and put in the extra effort to make it all work properly.

My partner and I are amazed at the hard work this Co. has done to make our backyard an entertainment place instead of a sandbox for the feral cats in the neighborhood. It is absolutely beautiful. We were finally able to invite family over. The lovely comments from our neighbors is the icing on a yummy cake. The crew was professional, kind, quick. They worked very hard. We were able to be at home to watch. I recommend this Co will not be disappointing.

Excellent work at a fair price. More importantly, the work was performed quickly and very professionally...Johnny's team work very hard and the final product is outstanding. Smartscaping completely renovated my front and rear yards, built a retaining wall and a deck, both of Brazilian Hardwood. I am very pleased with the result and incredibly happy with this company.

My Smartscaping (Johnny Da Silva) completed ground paver areas, garden walls and landscaping with irrigation for both my front and back yard. Both projects were had several bids. My Smartscaping provided a low cost and well done projects. When some smalllland movement occurred in my backyard wall they came back and rebuilt that small section. They provide very expert construction work, good workmanship and take pride in their construction work. Highly recommended for this type of construction.

I recently hired Smartscaping to tear out an old deck and rebuild a new one. The work was done as promised with no surprises. Johnny, the owner, is personable and professional. My deck was done super quickly and it looks beautiful. Johnny was also helpful above and beyond: he has since done some other work for me and everything has been as promised and without any problems. I highly recommend Smartscaping as a company to do business with. You won't be sorry.

We had a great experience with Smartscaping. We have a 400-square-foot area in our back yard that was transformed from a mud pit into a beautiful patio space using the Catalina 3-piece pavers. Johnny first came over to consult, sent us a quote with a few different paver options--all which were reasonably priced--and then his team started the work a week later. It took the crew just 2.5 days to dig down 7", pour rock and sand, compact everything, angle the landscape for drainage, lay pipe for the drainage, and then they carefully placed the pavers. Our yard has several curves to account for garden beds, and the team did an amazing job cutting the pavers to form graceful arcs around the yard. I am still giddy about how good it looks. Go for Smartscaping--they nailed it!

Had a fantastic experience with Smartscaping. Obtained a couple of quotes, Johnny spent time discussing options and providing multiple solutions. We trusted them with the job and they delivered professionally and with a friendly team.

These folks were responsive and fast. They did a job for me in just a little more than a day that someone else said would take six days. The folks that work there are really kind. They helped me with my design and handled everything. I highly recommend this company.

Johnny did an excellent job with the landscaping of my backyard, he was very considerate and would enquire from me at every stage of the project if I had any changes to make before they proceed. He is about customer satisfaction and I can't be more grateful that I went with him. If you are considering him, you can't go wrong using him and his team for your landscaping needs.

We are happy we went with Smartscaping after doing some research into who to go with for our backyard project. Very hard working and honest people. We are very happy with their work and recommend them for any projects you have.

I've called few contractors and found out that my job was not big enough for them. When I called Smartscaping I quickly realized that size does not matter. Johny with his Brazilian charm, was true to his promises. The price was reasonable, the work was done fast, the place was left clean just ready to step on. If I had another driveway I would do it again with Smartscaping. Enclosed are pictures of before, during and after.

My wife and I are very happy with the pavers, fire pit, and lighting that Smartscaping installed. It's amazing work. We both find ourselves going out into the yard more often because the space is now so much nicer than before. Johnny listened carefully to our plans and then provided feedback, with the end product being exactly what we wanted. In addition to his craftsmanship, Johnny is very professional and timely. His price was also honest and the best--by far--among the 3 estimates we received. Having had a great experience working with Johnny and his crew, all I can say is Smartscaping is awesome!

We had an excellent experience with Smartscaping and are thrilled with the results. Johnny is personable, approachable, and made the entire process seamless. He listened to our ideas, answered our questions, and ensured we felt comfortable with the process.

His crew was professional, skilled, and detail-oriented. They worked efficiently, kept the job site clean, and left everything tidy at the end of each day. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and the finished project is not only beautifully executed but has also drawn compliments from our neighbors and friends.

We’re so happy with the outcome that we’ll definitely work with Smartscaping again for future projects. They took our ideas and turned them into reality. We highly recommend Johnny and his team to anyone looking for high-quality work.
